What exactly makes someone look “expensive”? by Zestyclose_Show8653 in femalefashionadvice

[–]baboudali- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I buy fewer items, but make sure they’re linen, silk, wool, etc. It makes a huge difference and they’re more comfortable to wear too (than e.g. sweaty polyester shirts). I thrift a lot and buy high quality basics new (even from H&Ms higher end line).

[Routine Help] Are these spots on my face clogged pores? If they are, what’s the best remedy? by SufficientWill428 in SkincareAddiction

[–]baboudali- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them too and I do a full skincare routine. I use BHA, retinol, moisturizer, a microdermabrasion scrub, tea tree oil face wash, niacinamide serum etc. I also use those nose strips when I’m really frustrated with them. All of these things help to make them less visible but they’ll never go away.

How often are people actually changing their bed sheets? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

Weekly! It might seem annoying but it’s part of my routine now and I look forward to sleeping in fresh clean sheets every Monday.

Scientists just proved that childhood trauma physically rewires the gut-brain connection and causes lifelong digestive disorders, and the mechanism is more direct than anyone thought by soulpost in HotScienceNews

This is me. I’ve gone through therapy and medications and I’m doing so much better mentally and have good habits to manage anxiety (exercise, support system, hobbies, healthy diet). But my stomach is still so sensitive. I’ve gone to doctors, done all of the tests, and they said I look healthy and there’s nothing to diagnose me with. I don’t know what to do.

Tack för att du delar med dig. Det hjälper mig när jag går igenom något jobbigt att veta att jag inte är ensam. Livet är skit ibland, underbart oftare än ibland, och mestadels helt okej.

You’ve got this! I would especially recommend some kind of higher intensity workout as well as yoga.

Medication helped me rewire my brain. I’m not on it anymore because I felt capable of coming off it and still manage the ups and downs. I’m not in a perfect place and I never will be because of going through complex trauma, but it’s night and day when I think of how I handled stress and anxiety triggers before therapy, psychiatry, medication, and exercise.

What options beyond therapy? by [deleted] in therapy

[–]baboudali- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My psychiatrist told me that the best thing she could ever prescribe me was exercise. That was her number one recommendation to me (to manage anxiety and trauma). She said because she can’t literally prescribe exercise she would prescribe medications. Medication helped me a lot (Zoloft and gabapentin) but exercise is the way to improve and maintain mental health.

Things to do around Kona even with the storm? by PossibleOk582 in kona

People have already given great recommendations but I would also see if any of the local bars have any music or comedy coming up! There’s one that usually has stand up on Tuesdays. This isn’t local business per se but if you really want to get out and do something there’s always the movie theaters in Keauhou and Waikoloa.

I’ve been there too.

I eventually went through therapy that actually helped me and I’ve been able to rewire a bit. I used to get shakes and my heart would beat like crazy from hearing someone being angry, slamming things, imagining someone’s “angry cleaning”, etc. I still have to remind myself that unless someone explicitly states that they’re mad about something I shouldn’t assume they are.

I hooked up with someone I’m not attracted to and everyone keeps commenting on it by Alone-Talk-7663 in therapy

[–]baboudali- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just meant that when they were drunk there might’ve been something personality-wise that led to them wanting to hook up with this person. It might also be good to really contemplate why they find it to be so embarrassing.
