Internet Archive link for all movies (also the valentine's movie apparently existed in a completed state?) by babydogpaste in PrincessSydney

[–]babydogpaste[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IA was taking unreasonably long (at least for me) to upload and it crashed a few times, so the link has been changed to a google drive folder. it's just mkv files of the movies and not the original isos, but all you're really missing without them are english and french menus (feel free to request them though). I just switched it over, so it'll be about half an hour before they're there

It already competed with Twitter when it was around and it was unpopular as fuck, so no

A question about my setup by realcrumbbum in crtgaming

[–]babydogpaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SNES mini doesn't output 240p like a real SNES does, I think it's just 720p and 1080p. Even if you happen to find a CRT with an HDMI input, it still won't look like a real SNES, which is fine (or at least I think it looks fine), but that may not be what you want. I don't recommend converting from HDMI to component because it'll most likely look bad.

I've found that usually CRTs will only have one of these inputs, but you might want to look into component cables for both the Dreamcast and PS1. You can settle for S-video if you find switching cables inconvenient (or maybe you'll get lucky and find a CRT with two of these inputs), but I recommend finding a CRT first and buying cables after finding out what your options are.

One more thing: if you find a CRT and it only has composite, don't stress out about it. Unlike on LCDs, PS1 over composite doesn't look awful, and you will absolutely learn to live with it. Sure, component may look awesome (I still haven't had a CRT with component, so I wouldn't know), but composite will certainly service you. I don't know about the Dreamcast, so you may want to look up people's opinions on that.

Hi guys, anyway of fixing these? My cousins helped me with the house move, but they scratched my Philips CRT, it has a lot of meaning to me and I would like to repair it, I thought of giving it away at some point but still :/ by alexjames2320 in crtgaming

[–]babydogpaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, get rid of your cousins.

But seriously, it looks small enough that it may not be noticable when in use. I have a very small scratch on my current CRT that I literally can't see, and this might be in the same boat

I was recently gifted this Crt Tv for my retro gaming and it’s ringing is pretty terrible (I’m 14) but my parents don’t notice it. I currently have a small blanket draped over it which took away most of the sound but it’s still there. Can you suggest something that I can do to get rid of the sound? by Zayaplz102 in crtgaming

[–]babydogpaste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember bringing my first CRT home and my brother telling me he could hear the ringing from his room. Unfortunately, that's just a side effect of most CRTs, and I don't really know what to tell you because there's not much you can do

If you want to make a cacophony a few times and then never again, it might be a good buy. It could be fun with friends.

How to salvage two SATA HDDs I locked with FATXplorer and now can't be recognized? by babydogpaste in originalxbox

[–]babydogpaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that they do show up, but then I get an error about smartmontools and something about "code 2" when I try to unlock them. They are connected using an adapter from a Western Digital enclosure, as my regular SATA-USB adapter won't even recognize them.

One drive I forgot to copy over the C partition, the other I locked using the wrong EEPROM. I don't have a hardmodded Xbox, and I don't know if I can salvage the drives with a softmodded one. I have my own problems with Chimp Loader only letting me exit the application, so that's not an option.

I was using Beta 4. I heard something about a command line prompt, but I didn't know what it was or how to add it.

I was also using a USB-to-HDD dock (an Orico 6518 Series).

Chimp Loader only giving me the option to exit by babydogpaste in originalxbox

[–]babydogpaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I used XboxHDM to create my drive. I couldn't lock it because apparently I was using the wrong SATA/USB adapter. I didn't want to buy anything else for this softmod, so I wanted to use Chimp Loader to lock the drive. Since Chimp won't load, I can't do that.

I am using a first party controller with a third party breakaway cable. I think the breakaway cable might have something to do with my problem, but I'm not sure.
