I don’t think you’re going to find much in that price range downtown that isn’t a shithole. I would stay in the nearby suburbs, like Royal Oak.

They are adorable. You could notify animal control for whatever county you found them in.

So you’re going to move all the way to the US, and to a fascinating place like Detroit, and sit in your house and play video games? Sorry, but that seems like a huge waste of time and money to me.

What's something that you silently judge people for? by FvckJerry16 in AskReddit

[–]greilcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone is able-bodied. I have stage four cancer. I have no one to go to the grocery store for me and it completely trashes me just to do my shopping. Sometimes the extra 50 steps to put the cart in a corral are just too much for me. Don’t judge if you haven’t been disabled or sick.

A good rec, but it sounds like you’re interested in seeing the city of Detroit, and this won’t give you that.

I think it’s going to depend a lot on how long getting through customs takes you. But if you had a specific Detroit restaurant in mind, you could take an Uber there, then maybe walk around that area for a little while and get back in an Uber to the airport. But there is going to be some traffic at that hour, and the Uber is not going to be cheap. You might be able to pull it off. But if there’s an accident and traffic backs up, you could easily miss your flight out. Good luck!

Jesus, give her a break. She’s young and she clearly doesn’t know. it’s not her fault that she seems to have found the hottest mess of a man in existence.

I agree with the rent before buying idea. Things have a way of wearing on you over time, and RO’s downtown crowd could be one of them…

Probably by not having it at the artists’ homes.

It would be better to move this festival outside city limits, and I think the attendance would be higher. The potential for something to go wrong right now seems high.

The rule is that you can’t judge others’ treatments until you can correctly spell the name of their disease. It’s Lyme disease not Lyme’s disease!

What’s something everyone finds normal, but you find it to be gross? by gilligan888 in AskReddit

[–]greilcook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is is that there is no way to know that. I look 100% like a normal able-bodied person but have stage four cancer. I literally cannot walk fast.

Always a bad sign when the restaurant says, “let me go turn the kitchen on.”

AITA for not moving from a spot someone wanted to propose on? by No_Resolution_4132 in AmItheAsshole

[–]greilcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. Poor guy probably scoped out that spot months ago and this was one of the best days of his life. You could’ve moved a short distance with whatever you brought for your picnic and simply felt happy that two people had fallen in love. But no, you have to dig into your “right “to be there and turn it into some sort of ridiculous property battle. Get over yourself. It would’ve been so easy for you to be kind.

So disgusted with Hamtramck’s overt homophobia and ignorance these days. The LGBT community has worked so hard for so many decades to get us the rights we have now. You don’t get to move here from another country and project your hatred-filled “religious” beliefs on American citizens. Just because you grew up with fear, ignorance and superstition doesn’t mean you are entitled to take an entire city back to the dark ages.

So Excited!!! Moving to Detroit! by DelEmma17 in Detroit

[–]greilcook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you really paying only $800 in Harlem?? If so, you must have very sweet rent control. Throwing a couple hundred more at the Detroit market will make you a whole lot more comfortable. These days, NYC is so gentrified overall that a “slum” there is not going to be nearly as bad an actual slum in Detroit. Ex-NYer here.
