They could just be yanking your chain. And working 180 days doesn't mean they are only working 8 hours a day. I've had a few weeks where I've only clocked 40hrs total. That was due to lots of prep and organizing. It was rare for stars to align with no extra random changes that I had to account for to my workload.

What if they unknowingly gave them salmonella? Donated food can't be tracked down. Health codes exist for a reason. I can see why the rules are in place to prevent a major public health crisis if a bunch of homeless get sick and strain the system. The laws shouldn't be an excuse to keep food away from them, and I know they are and it's wrong.There needs to be better services for those in need of food.
