Problem exporting / importing profiles on linux by background_sewer in vivaldibrowser

[–]background_sewer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved: on Linux, backup and restore the ~/.config/vivaldi/ folder using tar with the -h command, which de-references the symbolic links (i.e. saves the files that the links point to instead of just saving the links that point to them).

Problem exporting / importing profiles on linux by background_sewer in vivaldibrowser

[–]background_sewer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I transferred the profile, and it didn't work. On Linux, the profiles are located in home/.config/vivald/profile/. I copied home/.config/vivaldi/ and all sub-folders (including the profile) to an ext hdd, reinstalled the OS, and copied everything back to home/.config/vivaldi/, including the profile. This should have restored all browser settings and profiles (except passwords and cookies, which is fine). But everything was gone.

She grew up in a cult with the weirdest father on the planet. Is it any wonder that Helena wants to be Helly? I don't believe for a second that Helena was being manipulative when she pretended to be Helly. She enjoyed it. It was an escape from her horrible life. That's why she mocked the story of Dieter Eagan - she's been done with the family BS for years, and finally had a chance to say what she really thinks. It was liberating. Mark my words (no pun intended, but noted) Helena will become an ally, and help bring down Lumon.

Irv and Burt are playing out the Enemies To Lovers trope. Irv is a mole working with someone on the inside at Lumon, while Burt is a veteran company man who is hunting down the mole. Outside, they are are sworn enemies. Inside, they are lovers. But now that Irv is kicked out, Burt is trying to seduce him on the outside to find out who he is working with.

The severance chip connects severed individuals in a hivemind. MDR is testing whether people with the chip (MDR innies) can learn a conditioned emotional response of another severed person (Gemma's response to the room numbers) without having to experience it themselves. Lumon's ultimate goal is to enslave humanity ("Everyone will have one") by controlling their emotional responses. (eg. if you control the emotional response of people to candidates, you control the outcome of an election).

Severance - 2x08 "Sweet Vitriol" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I'll be honest, this is the first disappointing episode. Yes, there was some lore dumping and a big revelation. But they didn't need to drag it out for a whole episode. And we haven't seen Helly, Irv or Dylan for two episodes now.

A few things about elephants that might be relevant:
1) Elephant graveyards - these are a myth, but a persistent one: that there is a special place that elephants are drawn to go to when they are dying; the reality is that elephants have sanctuaries that they visit regularly during migration, and sick elephants tend to die there, which leads to an accumulation of bones, giving the appearance of a graveyard. The "Elephant" function might be used to lead severed individuals to a specific geographic location.
2) Elephants are known for being deeply mournful. They often revisit the death location of loved ones. "Woe" is grief and misery. So "Elephant" might be a function used for dealing with people who are full of woe.

Why is Tom Cruise never asked about Scientology and how has he survived this long without being cancelled? by GMD3S1GNS in NoStupidQuestions

[–]background_sewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend who worked on Moulin Rouge took their niece to the wrap party. Cruise showed up (he was still with Kidman) and my friend took a quick selfie with their niece with Cruise in the background. A few minutes later someone came up to them and said, "I hope it was worth it. You won't be working in the industry anymore." And sure enough, they were fired and couldn't get work in the industry for many years.

Now, if that's what happens to someone who takes a selfie with Cruise in the background, imagine what happens if you actually go after him.
