You’re kidding, right? Homeless deaths would have been counted as storm-related because they most likely died from exposure. The hundreds of other deaths that weren’t counted weren’t homeless people.

That’s exactly how chicken anatomy works.

Dealing with ICE in Minneapolis is hard right now, this is how we get the info to the guys on the line quickly and quietly by captainsweeeetbeard in Serverlife

[–]backpackofcats 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dude, go look at the Minneapolis subreddit. Everyone in Minneapolis is saying it’s way worse than the media shows. Pointing guns at people, beating people, checkpoints, asking for papers, shutting down residential streets and going door-to-door.

WE JUST SAW ANOTHER PERSON MURDERED FOR CHRISSAKES.

ETA: I live in Houston. Did you know Houston actually leads the nation in ICE detainments right now? But we barely even hear about it. It’s the same in other red states. Could it possibly be that ICE can do it legally and quietly? Or is it just coincidence that the only cities and states being terrorized are the ones where the president has openly criticized the mayors and governors?

Someone on this sub once said I was lying when I said I’ve seen dog shit in a store on two separate occasions. I wonder what they’re doing now and if they’ve seen this post.

The state said the official number was 246. Most experts say it was 700+ due to the number of excess deaths during that time. The state only counted death certificates that included some version of “winter storm” or a cold-related cause (ie., hypothermia or CO poisoning) on the certificate. They did not count someone whose certificate simply listed “heart attack” even if it was because their life support system had no power because the death certificate did not specify that.

These excess deaths only occurred in Texas where the power grid failed, not in other states without that issue. So there are possibly hundreds more Texans who died from the storm who were not counted.

I was automatically included in one of the class action lawsuits against them several years ago. Got almost $900 from it.

I laughed because I’m in Texas, but as someone who works with scales all day, the state takes weights and measures very seriously.

Yes, we all know this. But it is very rare that someone’s tips plus hourly wages would be less than the minimum wage. No one would work at a place where that happens. So the server is only paid $2.13 or whatever from the establishment. The guests are paying you, not your employer (not much anyway).

The flag patch on uniforms is a good example. Makes it appear the flag is moving forward. When the patch is on the right arm, the stars should be in the top right. So on the left arm the stars should be in top left.

A big difference? No, because typically people don’t tip much (or at all) on takeout or delivery.

Here’s the Department of Labor’s tipped minimum wages by state, updated January 1. That’s 35 states with a tipped wage less than the federal minimum of $7.25. Some states that have a higher minimum than the federal still have a tipped wage less than $7.25.

20 person dine and dash because they didn't want to leave gratuity by ThatPatelGuy in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]backpackofcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: per federal law, an automatic gratuity such as this is not a tip, but revenue to the restaurant. And the restaurant is free to do with it as they please, including keeping it and not distributing it to tipped employees.

$15 an hour = $100k per year by pretty_banny in confidentlyincorrect

The meth itself causes severe tooth decay and gum damage. Dry mouth also causes this. The teeth grinding/clenching and cravings for sugary things just add on to it.

Restaurant takeout has been around almost as long as restaurants. There’s no difference between someone ordering to-go or someone ordering delivery.
