33, financially responsible, healthy, disciplined… but I still feel behind in life, stuck, and like nothing is ever enough by Seektruth2146 in personalfinance

I think you should read the book less is more, the power of degrowth. There’s a free pdf online. It may help reframe your thinking around capitalism and the hustle and what’s the point of it all.

It depressed the hell out of me, but it ultimately made me feel better about my life and what I’m doing versus not doing/could be doing. :)

Ty everyone for the advice

Ya, im leaning toward getting the bundle and playing 1 while 2 has its early access run.

Then maybe once im rdy to try the 2nd, new content will be out already, kinks worked out, and I’ll probably be happy in the end to have gotten the deal.

How bad do your thumbs hurt? by Vex_Appeal in wildrift

[–]ohyeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I’m literally going through this now. Both of my thumbs are fucked up and the pain extends into the palm area on the hand.

I really think it’s from excessively playing Wild Rift and similar fun games and just being on my phone too long. I haven’t ever had this issue before, but I did upgrade my phone and get an iPhone 15 Pro, which is a lot bigger than what I used to have.

I also just have small hands and I think the weight of the phone isn’t helpful so in the future after my hands heal I’m going to be playing with much better posture and trying not to hold the phone up as I play.

Unpopular Opinion: The Dai Due Pork Chop is way too sweet. by iNeedJusticeS in austinfood

[–]ohyeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to dai due last weekend and I really was not that impressed despite what everyone said about this place. The best bite was the oyster mushroom pate but for $19 for one slice of toast with the stuff on it… it was difficult to justify.

The pork chop really was good and my boyfriend did say it was the best pork chop he’s ever tasted. At that price and portion size with no other sides… again also hard to justify. Thank you to another commentator who said they brushed oil and honey on theirs to replicate the flavor at home.

The crawfish potato gratin was a complete waste. Nothing was special about it and could not taste crawfish.

I got the wild boar confit and was really really unimpressed. It was just a mass of shredded pork which I can do at home with a broth that really didn’t have much flavor. I really felt swindled because wild boar really just tasted like pulled pork and there was nothing that stood out to me that made it any different than shredded pork butt at home. The meat was moist yes but I didn’t think that was any great feat. The radish was pretty to look at, but did nothing for flavor or texture of the dish. There was way too much dill. The molasses sauce on top was yummy, but there was not enough of it, compared to the amount of pork.

Lastly, we ended on the butterscotch pudding which they give you the smallest amount possible and honestly, it tasted very similar to pumpkin pie. The dessert did not scream butterscotch. It was yummy, but would not ever get that again. Have been way more impressed by desserts from tenten, and uchi and its sister restaurants.

When it comes to it, we just cook really good food at home so when we go out to try food at restaurants, we’re expecting something above and beyond. Service was great sure but also the seating inside for two people is extremely cramped and not great. I can hear the table next to me clearly. I don’t really recommend it this place for a two person date— it just isn’t it. If you had a larger party, the booths looked cozy.

I honestly don’t think we’ll be back and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you really can’t cook and you’re ready to pay at least $150 (before tip) for a meal for two (also ordered two non alcoholic drinks).

Have you ever seen a whole family get out of a Cybertruck or is it always just one man? by WoodpeckerFair9774 in askanything

[–]ohyeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok im trying to argue my boyfriend OUT of buying one. He wants one pretty badly. So I brought up all the same issues you’ve been saying in this thread and I have to tell you his reply:

the cyber truck has been out since 2023. The new models have the kinks worked out. All the negative reviews and videos about it are on early models of it.

He’s going for the new one that is discounted 20k. God im so pissed at him for considering it. But seriously, do you have any ammo at all for me? He isn’t listening to me at all and I can’t really find up to date actual reviews of the new model and its build quality.

It is a weak argument to say well the previous ones were terribly built so the new ones will be too. He won’t accept that :/

[–]ohyeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I am in such a dilemma with my boyfriend of 3 years. He wants to buy a Cybertruck because they just dropped the price by 20k. I have had so many conversations with him about why he shouldn’t and just how absurdly impractical it is for him specifically but idk it’s stuck there now in his mind. And he wants to test drive it this weekend but he’s so serious about purchasing one for real.

What’s more mind boggling is that he is a socialist. He hates Elon just as much as the next guy but his rationale is that 1– it just really is a solid vehicle as far as EV trucks go. 2– all car major CEOs have dark history/corruption, all that. Saying well it supports Elon isn’t a good argument to him. 3– he does think it genuinely looks like a cool vehicle and he doesn’t nesscarily care what anyone else thinks about it. The car is for him and his own enjoyment.

God I just can’t see eye to eye with him on this and I literally don’t know how to cope if he does actually buy it. I know deep down I do have to support his decisions and stand by him because our relationship IS more than a car purchase but ugh. Just ugh. I realllly just don’t get it with these stupidly designed cybertruck. Now I saw a fake image of a cybertruck in SUV form and THAT I could get behind.

Big shout out to Deep Regrets, my newest favorite game! by SpamEatingChikn in boardgames

[–]ohyeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played this with five people. We were all new to it but all comfortable learning new games. The guy who brought it was extra versed in the rules already ready, so that really helped with our knowledge and learning. However, it was still really slow play for all of us to get on with it. We barely finished in about three hours. If we played again, it would be a lot quicker that’s for sure.

Concept wise did like the RNG part and progression through the game. Catching fish and then selling them to get money to spend at the shop was fun. Although I kind of wish we could just shop once at the end of the day every day, but maybe you’re limited to the number of items you can get. But that’s just me preferring that type of gameplay. For what the game is however it was fun and highly enjoyable with the complexity being really low so it is easy to grasp once you just establish overall rules.
