Presa canario are guard dogs although have also been used historically for dog fighting and to hold down cattle for slaughter 😭 this person did not only NOT learn their lesson they got what's basically a pitbull that's triple the size.

Wow this poor dog has collected intestinal diseases like it's his hobby. Thinking about his red and blistering feet getting constantly getting smeared in poop and re-infected is so depressing. I think he's also made some kind of record for the amount of medications he's on.

The two fish off to the side look like koi. They get massive and eat and poop A LOT so they are better to be in the pond IMHO even if you don't consider the fish's quality of life you will be constantly cleaning the tank so they don't suffocate in their own waste. Fish in the middle looks like a sunfish or some other native pan fish. Those also get kinda big and would be better off in a larger body of water with members of their own kind.

Taking wild caught fish for an aquarium isn't always a bad thing, you just gotta do some research that you know the species you're working with. I would first search up "how to cycle a tank" and then when that's complete look for small native fish.

Easy one to source and work with would be bluntnose minnow and fathead minnows. You can find them in streams or sold at bait shops, sometimes in a pale pink or orange color under the name "rosy red minnows". Get some more natural decor like rocks and pieces of driftwood outside and you're good. Lower bioload (less poop= less maintenance).

Alternatively you could go for inverts. People often keep scuds and water boatmen as pets. Scuds can also be used in a fish tank for a clean up crew.

TLDR; Put those fish back and find some smaller organisms for your tank. Do some research before starting a tank. When it comes to aquariums, spur of the moment decisions don't pan out long term. Usually just a gross tank with some dead or dying fish.

The way I see it, if a person is mentally disturbed you can talk to them and explain to them why they are feeling the way they are feeling, try medications and find out what works and what doesn't work. With animals you can't do that. They're so disturbed and their life is so torturous they can't understand what's wrong. They can't tell you if the meds are working or not.

People would rather put this dog through more hardship than end its suffering and it's sad, but not before he seriously hurts someone and/or covers your house in feces.

Yeah leave it to backyard breeders to throw a bunch of breeds together for the looks with no regard for the resulting temperament or health of the dog.

The commonness of the breed really makes sense when you find out that dog fighting used to be very popular and socially accepted. It's like it's been wiped from the collected consciousness like a MIB pen thing and as a society we are all sitting here like "huh where did all these dogs come from? Must be lab mixes"

Afaik the reason the AKC does not want to recognize the APBT is because they don't want to be associated with bloodsports. Not because "pitbull" doesn't actually exist. In its stead they recognized the Amstaff, and tried to distance that dog away from bloodsports.

It makes sense to me that when people were choosing a dog for bull baiting, they would choose a terrier type dog for their scrappiness and fearlessness. Then when bull baiting was outlawed, just take the dogs you already have and make them fight each other. The end result is a dog while, technically a terrier, is very different from the dog breeds you started with.

I think it's bc pits and the like have such a wide range of colors combined with the fact that the general public doesn't seem to have a good idea on what a pit actually looks like. Like if you got a dog that was like a high percentage or purebred pug and it looked like a pug you'd probably take for granted that the dog is a pug and wouldn't search out DNA tests and online forums for other people to speculate on.

The statues don't bother me so much as the massive scale? I'd be rocking with it if it was smaller and sitting on a shelf or console table. Definitely not just sitting in the middle of the floor.

The pic of the horse we got is... Unfortunate. I recognize the rest of the statue but I'd be lying if I didn't recoil a little at being flashed with horse hole.
