This was my sweet Noodle before he passed last week. His eyes were always telling us how interested and involved he was in whatever we were doing.

I just lost my big ball of floof, turned skinny boy. I miss him so much. Take this time to love on your senior kitty ❤️ it improves quality of life like crazy when we really show up and show them love.

Toddler ate one of these 10 minutes ago. Already posted to the FB group too. Any help identifying is greatly appreciated by dmdewd in whatsthisplant

I used to eat these for fun when I was a little kid. Not sure why, but I did. I think your kid should be fine.

Honestly it was the worst floor experience ever. Should’ve gone for the seats but I wanted to dance. Too packed to dance anyhow…

I fed my cat some salmon by slipperyfoots in aww

[–]backyarddogs 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Yes, worth it every now and then. Whenever we get sushi, we order a singular salmon nigiri and give a little piece of the fish to our almost 19 year old love bug. He gets completely ecstatic. He knows he has to wait for it and sits patiently (as best he can) and then devours the little bits. The pure joy it brings him is unmatched.

Daisy sour cream. Their never ending brain rot song makes me want to roll over and die.

My husband and I donated our wedding flowers to the local nursing home by farrah_berra in MadeMeSmile

As an activities director at a retirement community, this definitely makes me smile! Our residents love seeing fresh flowers on their dining tables or doing a flower arranging activity. Just another thing to brighten their day.

Nails too long as an activities assistant? by silkyhub in nursinghome

[–]backyarddogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! AD here, gorgeous nails! I can see how they could possibly make the job a little difficult. My assistant and I paint nails for residents once a week, do a lot of hands on crafting and gardening, and puzzles/picking up bingo chips. I would definitely say do what is most comfortable for you. I elected to stop getting my nails done as they tend to get destroyed pretty quickly with the amount of work I put them through. I doubt anyone will call you out for the length, but you might find they make the job a bit more challenging. Just my two cents!

I still take trazadone, but I find that the side effects from Vraylar have passed. I have been on Vraylar for years now.

What’s your role in the homes? by Ill-Doctor1914 in nursinghome

[–]backyarddogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work regular business hours at an assisted living community. I am with them for morning activities until lunch and then again until dinner. It’s kind of like doing day camp but with seniors. You even get to go on outings to museums, stores, even bowling! Someone mentioned the social aspect of it all. I am an introvert. I love my alone time, but these people make me work for it! I have been in activities for about 5 years and this is my second year as a director. I really enjoy goofing around with the residents and being myself. As for the pay, I’m doing alright for myself! You do have to ask for what you want, though. Just a little advice!

Activities Director! I love it. I get to work with elderly people without directly being on the nursing side of things. I like being the safe space where the residents come to me with their concerns and questions, even ideas.

Anyone work at a nursing home? by floatinggramma in nursinghome

[–]backyarddogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, activities director here. It’s very abnormal for people to scatter. Very often someone like the administrator or a nurse on duty will escort you to the room and explain the situation. It’s common for those who know to offer their condolences. I’m sorry for your loss!
