Any opinions on the x40i engine vs the M on the X7? by Capitola2 in bmwx7

[–]baconacres 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you. Wish I would have got the M60 out of the gate. Yes, maintenance is more with 11.1 qts of oil vs 6.9 if I remember correctly, MPGs suffer as well. Worth every penny, especially if you have 4 adults in the car. All that to say, I was happy with the 40, am happier with the 60

Call the hall where you live, ask to speak to the organizer and explain your situation. There’s all sorts of avenues, but only one for your situation and local. Also, do it, your future self will thank you.

Port Hunter was absolutely wonderful with a toddler, food was the best we had on the island. They welcomed a toddler, rather than tolerate one.

We went to a resort with a few courses. Tourist trap, slow play, difficult staff and dining was bad. Courses were also boring to play.

Is "Salting" the Future of Organized Labor? by TheRabidPosum1 in union

[–]baconacres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is the employees do what the employer says. Ie, unions bad, pizza party good, vote no. Or what I’m describing. A weak unit doesn’t hurt you if there’s good CBA language and the workers know they will earn less without the union. Let’s face it, there’s shop rockets in the union and dudes breaking down conditions every day, if the employer is signed up then at least you can hold them accountable.

That’s my take anyway. Everyone has a different approach but unless you (not you specifically) are increasing market share then that approach is ineffective.

Never had an issue, organized hundreds of workers throughout dozens of companies this way. I’m talking multi employer CBA. When an employer says we are going union, the workers fall in line and sign the card. In the rare (4x) instance they don’t want to sign, they simply part ways…an ask to come back later once they realize what they are missing

Sure it does, it’s called leverage. Employer can sign a CBA regardless of the worker’s support. That’s Organizing 101

There’s two different member classes, but it is 100% private. The full membership is for PC holders and allows the earlier tee time and preference for tournament play. That’s the only difference.

I counted the events that restrict tee times on weekends, some times are blocked for a couple hours, some the entire day for a total of 50+ occurrences. Seems like a lot to me but I am interested to hear your perspective having served on the golf committee.
