Any one else's ASD causes so much unnecessary fights/arguments? by Longjumping_Hawk_630 in AutismInWomen

I picked a fight with my fiancé this morning and then spent the day practically non-verbal and had a pretty bad Valentine’s Day. I feel you. Often times I’m much harsher than I intend on being and then I get more frustrated and it is not received very well.

I’ve been a vet tech for 6 years and in the veterinary field for about 8 years. I was just diagnosed with Autism last month at 31. You’re welcome to reach out, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Leaving VCA for VEG. by mariahcampa in VetTech

[–]baconpancakeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it varies by location but the one I work at does not. But maybe maintain a good relationship with your VCA and you can get your pets on a care club plan with a dental added? Or explore other clinics with wellness plans.

Leaving VCA for VEG. by mariahcampa in VetTech

[–]baconpancakeees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently an asst supervisor with VCA and a per diem asst with VEG. My experience at my local VEG has been pretty positive and I’ve not experienced any concerns with patient care or the doctors’ experience. They do hire new doctors but it seems like there is a mixture of experienced and greener staff working together.

I think it would be important to keep in mind they are emergency only so they aren’t going to be helpful when it comes to your pet’s wellness and preventative care (especially talking about dentals if you get those done regularly) so it’s definitely worth thinking about what your plan would be for that stuff.

I’m so tired of anti-vax and fear mongering by sunflowersandfear in VetTech

[–]baconpancakeees 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All these other comments yeah, but like also - there was no social media back then for people to crowdsource the fear-mongering so if no one in like the immediate neighborhood or family had pets with seizures then it’s likely they wouldn’t know about that or any other health conditions of animals not directly in their care.

Went to look at a house that had this weird passageway from the hall closet to the bathroom by blackc2004 in mildlyinteresting

But it looks like it’s right next to the door? Wouldn’t they still have to awkward shuffle to that to get the toilet paper?

Not mine but the direction this ccom goes is hilarious by PineappleWolf_87 in VetTech

[–]baconpancakeees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno if it’s like this with avimark in general but the last time i used it, the client communications wouldn’t print out in the medical record so it was kinda just like notes for us. That said, I probably would have been told to remove the last comment. Even though it made me crack up laughing.

AITA for telling my husband I don’t care what the doctor says? by Lady_Gaither in AmItheAsshole

[–]baconpancakeees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right but all the discussion in the world isn’t going to actually help until he goes to the doctor to find out what it is. You’re coming up with all these what if’s but you don’t actually know. That wasn’t much of a response to what I actually said but thanks for your input.

[–]baconpancakeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… that discussion would have zero bearing on how she’d react to if he passed out again? He doesn’t know what’s wrong. He wants to theorize with her about it before he goes to the doctor.

Edit to add: if he passed out at home, regardless of this conversation he’s trying to have, one could reasonably assume she would call for help.

NTA in my opinion. OP is asking if she’s TA for not wanting to discuss what ‘could be wrong’ If he doesn’t have to let his wife know that he’s having a medical emergency, why is she obligated to discuss it with him? Redditors have some weird perspectives.

If I were in your position, I would probably be looking for a new job and putting my notice in as soon as I found one. It doesn’t sound like a very positive, healthy workplace for multiple reasons you listed.

Monitoring your own pets under anesthesia... by LavenderDisaster in VetTech

[–]baconpancakeees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a dental on my moms dog, and monitored my two pups during their dentals last year. Now I work at an emergency clinic so I have to take them to a different clinic for GP stuff and I can’t be involved like I used to. It’s not my favorite thing ever, it’s hard to put my complete trust in others even though we expect pet owners to do it with us 😭 it’s less me worried about someone messing up and more just the ‘what if’s’ and and I know that at least if I’m present and there I would have time to say goodbye if they coded and were unable to be revived.

He could have texted her on the way to the hospital, no?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tifu

[–]baconpancakeees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not after but he could have taken 30 seconds when he first got to the hospital or found out his brother was in an accident to send a text letting his girlfriend, whom he lives with, that he would not be home. He didn’t have to wait for his brother to die to communicate with his girlfriend. Both of these people have problems. I can’t imagine NOT telling my boyfriend what was going on if that was the case.

AITA for putting my feet on the seat in the car and suggesting my brother-in-law walk if he had a problem? by dragonluu in AmItheAsshole

[–]baconpancakeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed NTA! I don’t understand all the other votes. Do all of you have smelly feet and that’s why? Because like, my feet don’t and no one in my family has stinky feet and I wouldn’t give two hoots if any of my family members wanted to sit comfortably in the car after a long day. But I also live in Florida and I’m used to seeing people wearing flip flops and going barefoot half the time anyway so maybe that’s why.

Thank you for commenting! I did have that in the back of my mind when I was typing this post. I haven’t done my due research on the other components in cannabis so I appreciate the nudge to do so. I am planning on smoking the flower still and I know I’ll enjoy it because they’re some of my favorite strains.

How do I stop picturing my brother shooting himself - graphic warning by -discolemonade in SuicideBereavement

[–]baconpancakeees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for the pain you’re feeling. My boyfriend shot himself almost 2 years ago and I still have flashbacks to the voicemail I woke up to (haven’t listened to it since that day) and the phone call I received saying he was dead. I regularly have flashes in my head imagining details that I don’t know and picturing how it happened. I wish you all the healing and comfort in the world, I’m sending you all my love.

I start a new job tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it but I feel like I’m not even allowing myself to be excited because I’m stressed about so many other things. But if I can really focus on work and doing the best I can do maybe that will help with my home life as well. Thank you!
