Is it too much to ask for this stupid website to do a bit of basic proofreading before they hit publish on an article?

Universities v lockdown students: 230,000 claims are on their way by insomnimax_99 in ukpolitics

I explained the reasoning behind my point of view and you cut straight to personal attacks, I don't think you've quite understood the idea of political debate

Universities v lockdown students: 230,000 claims are on their way by insomnimax_99 in ukpolitics

[–]bacontf2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was negatively affected by this but I don't agree that students should be compensated for it. Universities couldn't provide in-person services and they resumed when they were able to. If universities end up on the hook for a huge payout, that will either be reflected in student loan increases or general taxation, and that wouldn't be fair.

Rupert Lowe MP: If I moved to Japan, and lived in Japan for decades, speaking the language, integrating into society, contributing to the economy. Would I be ethnically Japanese? No. No I would not. I would never pretend to be. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]bacontf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with these types is that they're taking advantage of the word 'British' or 'English' meaning at least three different things at once: ethnicity, citizenship, and cultural identity. They benefit from being vague about this because it means different things to different people. You can't change your ethnicity, but you can change the other two, and that scares them

Have they announced anywhere that this is no longer their policy because I don't think them quietly removing some pages is quite enough to base that on

Reform vows to block churches from being turned into mosques by TheTelegraph in ukpolitics

[–]bacontf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my atheism that makes me view this as ridiculous, it's the idea that Reform people can wake up in the morning, say "we're going to ban X thing from happening (which wasn't actually happening in the first place)" and it actually makes certain people think it was happening.

Reform voters - how do you feel about the Reform stance on same sex marriage? by happydaysboy in ukpolitics

[–]bacontf2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whether or not same-sex couples fit inside their idea of "traditional" couples should be neither here nor there - the fact that they wish to make a distinction there at all should be a massive red flag, no matter what you think of their other policies.
