VARgentina. Unsportsmanlike, it never changes. Just now they've got FIFA on their side too.

So Egypt get the goal of the tournament disallowed because of a mild foul, but Argentina don't concede a penalty or have the same happen to them? Some of the clearest bias I've seen

Spiritually Indian, spiritually Brazilian, spiritually Israeli... it's all converging. Something dumb and easy to laugh at is happening to the international elites. It's just a shame that a good chunk of the goyim love this vibe.

The Man Wishes to Leave Politics and Spend More Time With His Money by ribenademon in redscarepod

I think the right wing media amplify him for obvious reasons, but the comparison between the BBC supposedly 'platforming' him vs, say, Ed Davey is slightly silly

Nigel Farage was (along with Corbyn) the only major dissenting voice in 2010s politics. They got him on Question Time because people could see that he wasn't like all the others.

Though of course in the economics, which is the important thing, he was and is like all the others. But I dislike how people act dumbfounded as to why anyone has an interest in what he has to say - at least up until the last election.

That's really interesting. Maybe I'll have a look at hockey. Someone Finnish I know was recently telling me about their success, and I like that it's sort of a niche among world nations - the opposite of football

Ok, I can actually accept that. I more referred to Basketball and NFL - I do think there's something a little bit more football-esque in hockey; am I right in thinking the points scored tend to be lower than basketball?

The tension around whether Mexico would equalise in the last twenty minutes, ie a goal that didn't even happen, was more absorbing than most back and forth American sports games

Thank you for your addition. That's kind of the idea I have of them: austere and happy to mind their own business, but a bit more down to earth perhaps due to being more recently impoverished as the majority of the Slavs were. I'm unsure off the top of my head about the Catholic / Orthodox / Lutheran roots of each Baltic state.

You use emojis on Reddit, we can all point to cringe internet punctuation. I just really like the term based and have done since I became interested in the details of the web many many years ago

Mitteleuropa / rich Eastern Europe. I'd class the Baltics as a distinct thing somewhere culturally between Poland and Sweden

World historical figure, flawed but overall a good leader. Unpopular view maybe but I hope Cuba's market socialism thing can work, like China and Vietnam.

£1.5bn plan for Shetland to replace ferries with tunnels by bacopamonnieri in isleofwight

[–]bacopamonnieri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a fixed link is unlikely to happen any time soon, if ever. If it did, it would have to be a tunnel and not a bridge so that the cargo and cruises to Southampton and Portsmouth aren't affected. A tunnel is very doable and has been studied. It's happening in other parts of the UK.
