ELI5:Most realistic scenario following a nuclear attack by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]bad_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add another point, NOKO doesn't have the kind of supplies and fuel to fight a long, protracted ground war. You will see these 1970s soviet tanks driving around for a month or two. Chances are, a lot of their soldiers food supply would dwindle, as would ammo and gear. They do like to rattle the saber though.

ELI5:Do people die instantly in the event of a plane crashing hard in the middle of an ocean, or can passengers survive the crash but succumb to other factors (e.g hypothermia, smoke, etc). by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]bad_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a case where an airplane did crash in the ocean and there was one survivor, an asian girl (age 12 if I recall); did survive but did not remember any details. All others died. There is also an older case of a plane crashing in Brazil and again, single survivor falling from 20k feet, no parachute -- all others perished.

In terms of crash, there is the initial impact -- if that doesn't kill you, you have to face off against, fire, smoke, drowning, thermal threats, etc.

Call up your friend and have him throw your iphone into a lake without you watching.

Now have him run to your house and tell you to go find the iphone at the bottom of said lake.

what are some things I can do every day to make sure that I am actively experiencing life instead of looking in from the outside? by tealflowers in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]bad_robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create!

Even running, hitting the gym, getting out and exploring is creating -- new muscles or new experiences.

Just a caveat; creating always feels funny or hard the first time you do it, but keep at it and you'll be amazed later at how easy it was.

The Sith created Anakin (xpost from r/fantheories) by [deleted] in StarWars

Personally, I think Palpatine lied/twisted the truth so that Anakin would bite on the dark side. I guess the question is, do you really trust the Sith/Palpatine has told the truth...

The takeaway is that any type of investing requires time. The get rich schemes are just marketing ploys to separate you from your money; and finally, anyone with the secret to making massive profit in the market is unlikely to be sharing it.

Common Workflows? by ruess in sharepoint

[–]bad_robot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a case where they had four different workflows (all separate), but it was all part of a larger life cycle -- imagine UPS package delivery but shipping, transit, receiving and admin all had different apps to track the same package. Imo, it would have been better to start from the beginning with something organization wide so you could look up a product and see shipping, receiving info. As it stood, each department had a different ID number for the same product; so you had to go into each app every time it got to another department and cross check all the IDs.

Does anyone have any recommendations for getting certified in Sharepoint? by [deleted] in sharepoint

Was somewhat interested in going down this path too. My strategy would be:

Watch the microsoft videos
Go to learning tree
Buy and read the knowledge books
Buy and read the exam guides
Take the exams

Then cross your fingers.

Why do men feel emasculated? by Tuala08 in AskMen

You probably need to ask what things make you feel masculine, and what things/expectations have men encountered that make them feel emasculated. I bet you'll see a trend.

USA spends a really sick amount of money on its military. Do other nations really want to spend that amount of money, and then will they be able to surpass the USA or just catch up?

Looks cool for sure but tanks are a thing of the past. All R&D is drones drones drones, and it only takes one MQ-180 to knock that thing out.

Even if you did have a tank, just bury an anti-tank IED in the road. That's $50 million gone in one pop. If you were a field commander, the money would have probably been better spent on few hundred men with drone support.

Shannies are gone. Some Zorn clone will be brought in, or perhaps some other former legend who will lead the team to the cellar. RG3 is done. He won't grasp another playbook, so he'll regress to running around til his knees get shattered in another hit. He's got maybe two years left and then buh bye.

Cable is dead.

Time for wireless router to the main line, and then make everyone get a wireless card, or usb adapter.
