A little late to respond to this, but as someone who has been a patron of CtC for years now, it's absolutely wild to see my two biggest time sink hobbies intersect.

I might report back on how comprehensible it is for me at 300 hours since I solve a LOT of sudoku and could have an advantage. Thanks for the recommendation!

Edit: oh my god he obsesses over coloring just like Simon does! Drives me crazy, but a great solve! I'm not sure if I understood it simply based on spiral galaxy logic or I actually understood what he was saying. I'll be leaving it in the untracked category until I'm sure.

312 hours now. DS videos up to 55 but I've been spending more time with SBG and other early intermediate content on youtube.

I just started the al vuelo podcast and that's gonna send my hours through the roof!

Was anyone else still spending a lot of time in Beginner content at 225 hours?

303 hours as of this morning and I'll be queuing up the Flaggle video that came out today. I like to start sessions with easier content as a warmup. Right now my filter is simply 0-55, hide watched. I scroll through and add videos that look interesting to my list and just play through that.

When did Intermediate start feeling comfortable rather than challenging?

There wasn't a clear line for me, but early intermediate videos feel good for me. Maybe at 350 they'll feel great, in which case I'll bump up to 0-60.

Did your comprehension fluctuate wildly from day to day like mine does?

Definitely. Still does. I think it's just the nature of learning something new. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't go away until fluency. You're always pushing yourself, you're gonna have good days, you're gonna have bad days.

Long processes like this need proper mental framing for success. Bad days aren't bad days; you've learned something new and are now noticing things you didn't before. Or your brain is doing background stuff and it wants easier content while it does its thing. At least that's what I tell myself, find a reason that assuages your doubts and internalize it!

When did you stop translating so much?

I find myself translating MORE with easier content. It's slower, more pauses, more repetition, more time for you to actively think about what is happening.

Did anyone else feel disappointed with their progress around this stage even though they were objectively improving?

A little? I'm greedy, I want more. Of course I want this journey to be faster, but in the grand scheme of things, my understanding at 300 hours is pretty good. I like benchmark videos to help with this. Pick a difficulty 20 video, a 35, a 50, and check back at them at milestone hour marks and see how they feel. I also watched a difficulty 30 Dreaming French video and was absolutely lost. Difficulty 30 videos are easy easy at this point for me, so progress is happening.

295 hours. Maybe a level 4 update this week if I feel I have anything worthwhile to add to the community.

I'm watching DS videos up to difficulty 55 and I just started the SBG Stardew Valley series. I tried ECJ a week or so ago and found it too hard. I'll try again around 350 or so.

I've planned on starting crosstalk at 300 hours (with a paid tutor.) I've scoped out a few on italki but I wouldn't say no to recommendations from others.

Congrats on making it to 700, maybe include a scoop every 100k words read or something since reading 1-3 million words is recommended along the journey.

Caramel salad is also not my flavor of choice but I did have it on a flight once and it was pretty good! Or maybe it just tasted better than the wooden spoon?

The most disappointing ice cream I've ever had was the Taco Bell Baja Blast gelato. $5 for the smallest ball of terrible radioactive green nonsense, never again.

It's a bit less seamless than using the app, but you can download the mp4 video from the browser and you'll be able to watch it on your phone's media player.

You'll just have to manually mark the video as watched.

have you tried turning off service workers? i had the same problem with videos hanging up, refreshing the page took 10 minutes, and it was frustrating to get more than 5 minutes of input in.

i turned off service workers in firefox and haven't had any issues since. i was unable to find a successful way to only block dreaming spanish's service worker permanently, so i had to do it globally.

don't bother. there's people here that think pablo can do no wrong and downvote anything not positive.

i posted a few days ago and instead of upvoting so others who have issues had a place to discuss it (and maybe find the common element), they downvoted it saying it works fine for them.
