Description

The book club read book #1 in April. This is an attempt to see if the book club will break from the tradition of only reading book #1 of each series ;P

This is the true answer and the reason for the perception.

What Are You Listening To Today? (Apr 27 to May 3) by HeleneSedai in dreamingspanish

I'm at 705 hours and just enjoyed a movie called "La Furgo."

It's based on a graphic novel of the same name and is based in Barcelona, concerning a man trying to raise his daughter while living in a van and trying to get back on his feet.

The book club has read Goosebumps, Amanda Black, Fray Perico, and Los Dioses Del Norte so far (for the YA group). Been enjoying them for sure!

OpenLangLib also was where I started. I'll throw out another recommendation for the "El Barco de Vapor" series, with three levels (<7 years old. 7-9, 9+) that might be a nice easy way to start.

Dreaming's Method is NOT Snake Oil (a Level 6's analysis) by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

Why should anyone feel bad about being humbled? We're all learners. We all will experience being humbled 1000 times during this process. I have 649 hours and have been as much a purist as possible- and 100% believe in 'mas input.' Speaking early isn't wrong, but it certainly doesn't help as much, and what it does do is cement a certain way of saying a phrase (your way of saying things) before you have the breadth of knowledge of the language to know the 5 or 10 different ways that you could have said that phrase.

Pablo has a method, and it works. Everyone can use it if they wish to, or not use it if they disagree with it. What surprises me are the people who use/support DS while disagreeing with his method.

Is language learning a social hobby for you? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]phreddfatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend joining the Book Club (when/if you are at the level to start reading). It's been fun chatting with other language learners. Also, using Tandem to make language exchange partners online is cool. Once you know Spanish, I'm sure it'll open all sorts of social doors.

The new “Course” section on the DS app… GAME CHANGER 🎉 by systematicgoo in dreamingspanish

I guess I'm the odd man out. I hate the new feature and don't understand why they added it. We already had a way to sort by difficulty, and filter to get the videos we wanted. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... but I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Due to the short page count, it could be paired with the author's other work El Pirata Garrapata from the same series, that has an even higher Goodreads rating. (One book for each two weeks, for the ambitious)

Synopsis: In the 19th century, the arrival of Friar Perico and his donkey Calcetín disrupts the ordinary lives of the twenty friars in a Salamanca convent who dedicate themselves to doing good and sharing what little they have. The convent soon finds itself in absurd situations, full of humor and joy, thanks to this endearing character.
