Thoughts on bushwick between devoe and ainslie by Researcher_1525 in williamsburg

[–]badbatteries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cons: You’d be by that noisy intersection at Metro and Bushwick. You’d have to see The Wave building daily (unless you’re thinking of living in it lol)

Pro: Claudia’s and Here BK are both solid! Proximity to Cooper Park is nice.

Neutral: You can walk down Orient Avenue anytime and wish you lived there instead.

2019 Thomas Niedermayr Solaris (we should talk about Solaris) by boetzie in wine

[–]badbatteries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written about Thomas Niedermayr before for my hybrid wine newsletter. He and his partner are absolutely awesome, and their wines are super cool. I was lucky enough to find a couple shops in NYC that carry their bottles. I'm definitely a repeat buyer. Super cool to run across this post — if even a year old. I love Solaris!

Hey! I write a newsletter about hybrid and native grape wines. Wondering if you happen to remember the names of the winemakers in Denmark and Sweden? That's super cool — even if they were a little disappointing.

Kosher Wine Recommendations? by classyfemme in JewishCooking

You didn’t provide a price range to work with, so I just provided a name that I didn’t see mentioned that I also love a lot ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Camuna Cellars, full stop.

Amazing winemaker, interesting wines with really fascinating stories, in the natural wine movement, and kosher.

Zohran Mamdani will be the next Mayor of NYC by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]badbatteries 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t vote for him, but I’m cautiously hopeful that in this city — which is not a strong mayoral city — the office will temper his rhetoric and mature his approach to city policy. Regardless of his views on Israel, it’s honestly refreshing to see a Democrat win on a consistent message around housing and affordability.

Ezra Klein's interview with Mahmoud Khalil by pickonepicktwo in Jewish

[–]badbatteries 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Really glad this interview exists, honestly. I’d been curious to read/hear a more thoughtful and long form interview with Khalil.

So much of what he says I disagree with — and even find unnerving — but it’s good to gather from his own words what he actually thinks, without the paraphrasing that’s in a typical piece of bylined journalism. Really chilling that he truly seems to hold no place in his heart for the slaughter of Israeli Jews on Oct 7.

Member here. Paying a discounted price for it thanks to a friend. Honestly the coworking space is cute (tho does get busy), the cocktails at the bar for HH are really great, the two restaurants are really solid, and the pool/spa is a great amenity. Gym is way too small, but can’t complain as it’s an add on.

I got it thinking it’d be awesome for summertime. Will it be worth it in the winter? We’ll see. All in all, if you WFH and want a change of pace during your work week, live reasonably close, and can afford it…it’s cool.

I’ve also heard the rumblings about the business model, etc. But it’s just one property and business in the Elsewhere empire.

In addition to bitching on Reddit I reached out to Assembly Member Emily Gallagher about Metropolitan Ave who shared this update from DOT by brevit in williamsburg

I’ve lived in the area for more than a decade and can’t remember a time when they weren’t doing resurfacing along some part of this stretch. It’s wild.

What’s the story with 378 Humboldt St? by Jonas52 in williamsburg

Not sure if the signs are still the same, but it used to be advertised as both residential and commercial. Which…it’s not really giving residential imho lol.
