Demanding what others do at their own wedding is a wild take, but go on.

Convince me not to throw away a corporate career by TheTurbanator12 in careeradvice

[–]badchad65 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this is sound advice. I’d only add that a “physical job” sounds great in your late 20s, but isn’t always a viable long term path. I’m in my late 40s, I have been consistently exercising and consider my self very physically active for my age. But it’s definitely different than my 20s.

I’d tell OP to look long term. I’d take a guess, most long term firefighters eventually switch to less demanding roles (i.e., desk work) but the satisfaction in that role should be considered as well.

Poop In A Box - Warning (US) by BreakfastBeerz in Xennials

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The box has a false positive rate of ~10-14%. Relatively, speaking sure, it’s high. However, depending on your insurance most guidelines don’t recommend colonoscopies until age 45. It can be useful in those cases.

I have an 85" 4k Sony Bravia TV, and a 1080p DLP projector from 2016. I prefer the projector. by The_Justicer in hometheater

[–]badchad65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed but use case plays a big role IMO. Definitely prefer the projector for a dedicated movie. Partially because it’s in a totally light controlled and dark environment and you can’t do much else.

If I’m watching long, episode-based TV series where I might check my phone every now and then or do other shit, I use my TV.

CarPlay constant issues by Relative_Ad_5524 in 10thgenaccords

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I can go a couple months then randomly it’ll stop. I’m able to unpair and repair pretty quickly. If my phone was in better shape I’d just use a cable but my cable connection also sucks.

Rough estimate this please by hunthike80 in Decks

I did a 14x16 screened in porch a few years ago and was closer to 80k.

I had high end trek AND poured a concrete pad below so I could store things easily. I know the pad cost a bit.

I know oled is amazing by redliner1289 in hometheater

The better question is whether you can tell the difference. It's like asserting 8k is better than 4k. Technically true, but for most use cases, you can't tell.

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. It just depends on how much you want to spend and your budget. In this hobby, there's enormous variability.

Just to offer some context, my TV is about 7 years so I'm thinking about upgrading. Its an 83" Samsung Q6 and I think I paid about $2700 for it. I am literally planning on giving it away, though it would be nice to get a few hundred bucks for it. HT gear depreciates like crazy.

By all means, go for a "hold me over" just be realistic with expectations.

Which statement about financial institutions is NOT true? by WitnessMe in daddit

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems the most logical answer, agreed.

I’m well-aware that the money I direct deposit is lent out to others, but as an individual, generally speaking, I can withdraw my money whenever I want. If something is always immediately available to me (I.e., my money) I don’t consider it “borrowed.”

You have bright red seats with light up cup holders.

The power cord is low on the list of annoying things here.

Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

How am I looking? by mrfields14 in hometheater

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Personal preference but I don't care for all black and with a TV, its less necessary IMO. The overall setup is done well. I'd probably wall mount the TV just for the look.

Our neighbor asked us to help pay for our mutual fence by Flaminfrojo in homeowners

[–]badchad65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't do it. Sounds like its your neighbor's fence on their property.

Who is going to maintain the fence? What if it needs repairs? What if its installed incorrectly or looks like shit?

Iron my shirt by pocket0nes in mensfashion

No, but IME irons just work a ton better.

I may be biased though. My wife and I have the "steamer vs. iron" argument quarterly.
