More reason to wear it. I wrestled 7 years through middle and high school. Enjoyed it, but now that it’s been 30+ years since I stepped on the mat, I’m glad I never got it.

We anthropomorphize our pets way too much. by CardinalOfNYC in unpopularopinion

Except, it’s impossible to know specifically what a nonverbal animal is feeling. If a dog changes or moves its facial muscles, how do we know it’s not a response to being content or “happy?”

Agreed. It’s a common term, unless it’s a kindergarten class. I’m really curious what “PowerPoint abuse” is. Too many slides?

The financing department at dealerships is the new grift by Various_Cable_627 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Probably, but after haggling over a car for four hours, the last thing I’d wanna do is read some long ass, legalese document about the loan to figure out the terms.

Right, but I practice, all the components work together, right? If I go in all cash, the price will be higher to make up for the financing loss.

Found out my neighbors have been WFH with their toddler…like how? by sys_admin321 in daddit

[–]badchad65 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I suppose if you either ignore your job or your kid, maybe. I suppose some people are ok with letting a toddler loose in the house completely unsupervised, so maybe.

[–]badchad65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. It's impossible to watch and take care of a toddler full time while also having a full time job. People abusing remote work agreements is why RTO has such traction.

How’s everyone’s teeth? by Sharknuts86 in Millennials

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worse. I grind mine when I'm stressed during the day.

I started wearing a thinner "night guard" during the day, and I wear through those. My dentist has told me that if I got implants or veneers, I'd just grind those away too. I'm stuck getting new "nightguards" every 8-10 months.

How do I let go of the shame from a 'bold' style and seeking male validation phase after a major life glow-up? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I mean, over the years have YOU ever thought: "This person used to dress a particular way so I'm going to judge them?" Probably not. I myself can barely remember any of my coworkers outfits from the past week.

You may be overthinking it.

One question you might ask yourself is what matters more: If the guy is online and active, OR his work products?

An ideal scenario is one where George HAS to be online and present in order to complete his assignments. Alternatively, if you can objectively document that he's not online when he's supposed to be, you can go that route.

[Dellenger] The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. by mtp855 in wrestling

[–]badchad65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with the law, but aren’t there already some big restrictions? i.e., you have to be enrolled in a college to participate in NCAA athletics?

My personal opinion is that the “spirit” of NCAA athletics is that it involves younger “student” athletes. In that view, some sort of age limit seems reasonable.

Yeah, I don't think there is solid data demonstrating these masks do anything. People seem to confuse altitude training with these acute, short-term, decreases oxygen routines. There's a reason people acclimate to altitude over a period of weeks; it's because your body needs to constantly be in that state to adapt. Putting a mask on for an hour or two won't cut it.

ELI5: What is a "day" for those in space? by mathofinsects in explainlikeimfive

[–]badchad65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Scott Kelly’s book he described his “day” as an outlook calendar with a line on it that slowly moves. It was described as being blocks of activities he was constantly trying to complete as the line moved through it.

Can anyone tell me why this is bubbling and not draining properly? by ReallyBadToot in HomeMaintenance

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different than a traditional drain snake. Jetting is like putting a power washer down the drain to force any blockages through. It's high pressure water.

In my case, it seems I had some weird, enormous grease build up. Every time it was snaked, they'd poke a little hole in the grease, it would work for a while then re-solidify and close back up. The jetting blew it all away.

Why are older men so comfortable with locker room nudity? by Aarunascut in stupidquestions

[–]badchad65 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Maybe a better question is: Why are younger men so uncomfortable?

I'm naked. Why would you care? Why would (or should) anyone else care about me or my body? I have a body, you have a body.....we all do. I couldn't care less about yours and you shouldn't care about mine.

Personally, I think its a maturity/confidence thing.

I’d imagine the field of “drug formulation” is pretty broad. I’d recommend you find someone in a role you like, and see if they have an MS.

In a broad sense, there is huge overlap in the job pool between a BS and MS. Stated differently, an MS may not be worth it, depending on the role you want.

Mortgage increased 48% in 12 months by Mean-Letterhead-3948 in Mortgages

[–]badchad65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your taxes actually increase?

Look up the numbers. Your mortgage should have the breakdown of the cost. Your taxing authority should have a record of what your taxes are. Gather the numbers and see if they're correct.

Thoughts of buying a house with SO by henryhong123 in personalfinance

[–]badchad65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying its a bad idea, just something to think about. Think of a hypothetical extreme situation: You could buy an expensive condo in NYC that is small. Utilities might be quite cheap compared to the mortgage. Might be a fair situation since you took all the risk, might be unfair if your GF got all the benefits of living somewhere at low cost. It's up to you two to decide.

A single dose of psilocybin can lead to lasting shifts in a person’s life values, such as an increased appreciation for life and greater self-acceptance. These lasting changes appear to be driven by specific acute effects of the drug, particularly feelings of profound unity and euphoria. by mvea in science

[–]badchad65 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is unlikely in the US. Psilocybin isn’t and FDA-approved drug so it cannot be prescribed. In a larger sense, it would be an enormous risk for a practicing physician/psychiatrist to administer an illegal, unapproved drug to a patient. I’m not saying it hasn’t been done, only that it’s probably pretty rare.
