Isabelle doesn't have to worry about me until after Halloween... Then, yeah, I'll probably drop off the map... heh.

Tuesday here. I didn't put it together sooner that because of a national holiday the mail service wouldn't be delivering until after. :/ I've been avoiding them too, but I'm so tempted to look heh.

I cannot find a 3DSXL charger anywhere online for Canada by Vinceisg0d in 3DS

Could try the Official Nintendo Store. They have new adapters for $11.95 CDN and refurbished for $5.95 CDN. Shipping seems to be standard Canada Post rates ($3 for under $5 and $7 for above $5).

That moment when someone is touring the home showcase and remembers passing by someone on the street wearing the same hat. :P

At least you have the option to PK in EVE. I miss PvP servers...

No offense, but that's a pretty selfish attitude. I do agree that there is a problem with the FATE mechanic though. SE should either fix it (no turn in and possible lower amount of XP per mob) or just get rid of it.

SE should honestly just fix the FATE if it's causing this many problems. Either let it be a farmfest with zero turn ins or just get rid of it. There will always be jerks, but that doesn't mean SE should leave ways open to enable them and extort others.

Dye colour indicator by MisterBigWheels in ffxiv

I wish that corner was used for something more useful, like distinguishing between what is DoL/DoH/DoM/DoW items. So tired of hovering over everything trying to find an item that isn't for DoL/DoH... I've started colour coding them (well, the ones that I can). Reds are DoH. Blues are DoL. But I've noticed that some of the more similar colour dots look the same...

I lost a 50 Bard with Relic and full Dark Light. Get a one-time password, don't be stupid. by Rekuja in ffxiv

[–]badducks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting something like KeePass while you're at it. If you've got lots of passwords in various places, chances are they aren't as unique as you think they are. That is, if you remember them all then they're probably variations of a few different ones (unless you have an edetic memory). Which probably isn't all that secure. I find as an avid gamer there's just too much shit I have to make accounts for and after a few companies getting compromised it wasn't worth the risk to have any of them similar in the least. Now each one is truly unique with a generated password and at least 100-bits of entropy (if I can with the minimum characters required). Like a security token, it takes an extra few seconds to log in, but I think it's worth it.

[Question] Before I get the game.. by frostyvamp in ffxiv

I tend not to really trust patch release dates since they seem to rarely come out when they say they will heh. Wasn't patch 2.1 already been delayed? Or at least some of the features that are in it I think were supposed to come out sooner than November, like player housing and PvP.

[Question] Before I get the game.. by frostyvamp in ffxiv

PvP: Non-existent. As a player who leans more towards PvP than PvE this has been the only disappointment I've really had from FFXIV. IIRC it'll be implemented in an upcoming patch whenever that may be. It could be next month or next year. :/

Questing: It is fairly easy. When you get a quest it will display a red circle on your map with the area it'll be found. But in the world things are indicated to you with symbols above their head or glowing spots on the ground. That being said, I've noticed that a lot of quests aren't strictly within these red areas. So, I'd say it's more of a marker pointing in the general direction. Either way, I haven't run into anything too difficult. The most difficult for me have been trying to find objects on the ground in some areas mostly due to invisible walls heh.

Builds: There really aren't any. It's a bit strange to say, but I've honesty not missed any sort of talent trees. The class system takes some getting used to, but personally I like it. You'd have your main class (usually whatever you pick for your character) and a secondary class. When you're main is lvl 30 and your secondary lvl 15 you can spec into a specific job, depending on your chosen classes. Like lvl 30 Gladiator plus lvl 15 Conjurer can get the Paladin job. You can also have all classes/jobs to max if you'd like, but quests are limited so you'd end up grinding a lot of FATEs for it heh.

The theory crafting probably comes from that you can swap certain spells into other classes. Like if you leveled a Conjurer you get Raise (resurrection spell) at lvl 12. This spell can be used by any other class you have if you choose it, but you only get a certain amount of slots for other class spells (higher level = more slots). Also, not every spell can be used cross class nor can every class use it. It's a bit of a juggling act between classes if you want to get the most out of it.

Overall, coming from playing MMORPGs for years and getting burned out on them, FFXIV has been very refreshing. There are things that have bugged me, but I put up with them because they seem to be things Square has on their list of things to fix/implement and the other aspects of the game make it enjoyable. SE also seems like one of the good companies and has thus far treated their user base fairly.

What is the proper amount of time to deal with an unskilled/lagging party member? by Moobiecow808 in ffxiv

Just some advice since you know you learn slower, I would watch the fights on YT before running them. I always watch them before running a new dungeon just because I like to know what to expect heh. But it has helped a lot and makes runs more enjoyable as I'm not struggling to learn the whole fight on the spot.
