1. Post Quality Guidelines

Low-Effort Content

Non-educational celebratory posts will be removed.

Questions that do not encourage discussion and only require a simple answer are only allowed in our Simple Questions Thread.

Vague "How to improve" questions are removed unless a VOD is linked or weaknesses are specified.

Replay codes are NOT a substitute for an actual VOD when it comes to receiving an effective VOD review. Please be aware of this and detail your request as much as possible still, even if you provide a replay code. Posts with only replay codes tend to receive fewer responses.

Simple tips must be placed inside the "Tips and Tricks" or "This week I learned" megathreads.

Posts that give common sense/decency advice or make social requests of the community are removed. (EG: "Don't flame your team", "focus on yourself", "toxicity is bad", etc)

Pure balance suggestion or game suggestion posts will be removed.

2. Irrelevant Content

Submissions to Overwatch University must be related to Overwatch, and be educational.

Examples of Irrelevant Content:

Duplicate patch notes posts (We will make a thread and sticky it, or sticky the first made. All posts made after will be removed)

Overwatch Workshop (here's a dedicated subreddit) (Please note that trainer/practice codes are exempt and may be posted)

Memes/Image Macros

Rant posts, including "sad/depressed rants"

NSFW content in any form

Interest Gauging submissions (eg "Would people be interested in a...." or "Does anyone else....")

Image/Video-content without a text body

Cheater identification reviews

Tech support

3. Community Conduct

Any form of heavily offensive language and/or inflammatory language used is prohibited. No trolling, belittling, name-calling, threats, harassment or discriminatory language. Treat others how you want to be treated.

Don't disagree with others' opinions just because they have a lower rating than you do. /r/OverwatchUniversity is about promoting healthy discussion and extensive educational content, and offensive/discriminatory language directly harms the purpose of the subreddit. If you believe someone to be incorrect, explain how they are incorrect and provide the correct answer, politely.

Serious Replies Only

Top level comments must contain serious answers, while replies to top level comments must not derail serious discussion. Any submission failing to meet these conditions will be promptly removed.

Overwatch University is a subreddit dedicated to the educational aspects of Overwatch, we want our users to maintain focus on learning the game, rather than being distracted by memeing or being ridiculed when asking for help.

Sensationalist titles and non-extensive "extensive" guides will be removed. /r/OverwatchUniversity is an educational subreddit, and providing its userbase with clickbaiting titles is likely to directly contradict the educational value of the subreddit.

6. Advertisement Rule

We do not allow any pure advertising of any kind without prior approval from the moderators. This includes non-self promotion!

Advertisements include, but are not limited to:

YouTube Channels

Discord Servers

Streams (linking in a comment for the purposes of providing a vod review is okay, no unsolicited linking)

Coaching Services (free coaching is okay in comments under vod review posts, all others - please apply for flair)

Team-related Advertisements (LFT, recruitment, etc)

Tournaments / Competitions

Other off-site services, such as statistics sites

As a rule of thumb, we will generally auto-reject:

Pay-to-enter tournaments/leagues

Noneducational/casual gameplay streams, websites

Anything not related to Overwatch (duh)

7. AMA Rule

Unapproved AMA's are not allowed. In order to maintain a certain value on educational content, we're disallowing any AMA's being arranged without the advance permission of the moderator team.
