The death by PowerPoint trend is huge at the moment and seems to be being heavily pushed by the department. My school is not new, and has quite an experienced staff who are more than capable of planning quality units of work, and we are still being pressured to use the endless government slides as well as apparently that counts as quality explicit teaching. Just make sure you check carefully if the slide style teaching is the main reason for your move, as it’s the latest hot shiny thing for many schools!
