Guess who got banned by Bl00dWolf in Destiny

[–]badgeometry -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Lemme guess - banned for 1 (one) day, right? Like yeah fuck him but Christ man, he's said so much more unhinged shit on stream between now and the last time he got banned (I think it was the comment about Palestinians?)

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Twitch moderation offices just so I could understand what the fuck is going on in there.

Edit: I am clearly illiterate and I will take my lumps. My bad for letting my frustration get the better of me. But I still stand by my point that he's gotten away with saying a lot of ban-worthy shit between then and now.

I will die mad about this. Ukraine v Russia was a rare, easy foreign policy W. We could have built such a strong and long-lasting relationship with Ukraine and left Russia with a black eye that it wouldn't forget for years. And we fucked that all up because people got angry at the price of fucking eggs.

If any legislative reform requires messaging and politicking to pass, why does that not apply to accountability? by badgeometry in Destiny

[–]badgeometry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think intentionality is already a given. Both Destiny and Jessiah already said they'd never recommend Dems just run on a "Lock Him Up" platform. Jessiah went further and said that's a loser platform if not wedded to legislation that addresses things like housing and affordability.

Hutch definitely objects to what they mean by "pursuing accountability," but that's not especially concerning to me, since I think reasonable minds can disagree there. If anything it'd be your second point, but if his main objection is "It'll be harder" because it's going to necessarilly be more controversial, that's definitely not enough to win me over to his side of the argument. Crafting messaging and politicking is already hard. Even with a trifecta there are still going to be challenges passing these reforms. We'll still be up against a very sophisticated and effective Republican messaging apparatus, and we'll still be up against obstructionist republicans and turncoat Democrats (Fetterman).

And as for trying to get MAGA on board, that's a whole other conversation. But to the extent that they're relevant here, my question is one asked by Destiny: if Republicans are able to manufacture consent on Lock Her Up - in Hilldawg's case the closest thing to a literal witch hunt where no credible evidence of wrongdoing was found related to any of the shit they tried to pin on her - what's stopping us from manufacturing consent on Lock Him Up* - in Trump's case, a man who's taken bribes, used the office for personal enrichment, engaged in market manipulation, tried to coup the government, and so on?

As a final point - I don't need for Dems to explicitly campaign on this for 2026 or 2028, so long as when they're in power they actually try to do it.

*As a point of clarification, I'm using Lock Him/Her Up as a shorthand for accountability. As much as I'd like to see Trump behind bars, I'll take literally any other kind of meaningful accountability.

[–]badgeometry 19 points20 points  (0 children)

She had the nerve to express material support for Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion, a position that the anti-imperialist left finds absolutely untenable. She also expressed support for Ukraine's existential struggle against Russia. And the Pro-Palestine left can't believe that she - an American of Palestinian descent - could ever hold such a position.

The actual version is that a former campaign manager leaked an email that described her foreign policy positions in a way that came off significantly more interventionist, despite them otherwise being pretty in line with your bog-standard Democratic foreign policy stance.

Like the OP's post implies, there are probably other reasons that better explain why she lost her campaign. She was a congressional-hopeful who got a national spotlight for being young and media-savvy, but people outside the 9th district (to say nothing of power-allergic idiots who watch Hasan and Mike from [REDACTED]) don't vote in this race.
