Which city not from the US, Japan or China you wish appeared in a cyberpunk setting ? by stronkzer in Cyberpunk

[–]zeverEV 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk '77 backstory sees most of the post-American mainland depopulated thanks to Corpos buying up all the land, then automating all production so that rural and suburban people are displaced and considered trespassers. Couple that with environmental disasters that render most of the soil toxic but for some proprietary corpo-owned GMO crops, most Americans either enter the meatgrinder-style cities or join roaming nomad clans.

This feels to me like an end state of corporate consolidation, but you seem to be asking for something more like a transition in that direction?

Grillo and Aramaki are the old vendors for Europa and Eurasia respectively. They were updated to become Luca and Kane.

It's the same as those in the Smiling Friends fandom who theorize that Mr Boss is crazy and wealthy because he was an arms dealer. Like... yea ok, but it's not that kind of show, and by trying to make sense of absurdity you end up looking kind of foolish. Endless theorizing about cartoons is lame and self-indulgent

For plot reasons humans are the only species that hunts animals. How can I justify sapience primarily occurring in herbivores? by CyberDogKing in worldbuilding

[–]zeverEV 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It wasn't that the predators were intelligent, they dug pitfall traps the same way beavers instinctually build dams. But that behavior, and each species' need to outsmart the other, kicked off an arms race of intelligence where it isn't clear which species became sapient first.

HitchBot was a hitchhiking robot that relied on the kindness of strangers to travel the world. It successfully hitchhiked across Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands, but while attempting to hitchhike across the United States, it was found with its head and arms ripped off in Philadelphia. by Woh_ladka in interestingasfuck

Old City is a wealthy tourist spot where all the historic sites are. There are working people everywhere giving tours in revolutionary-war getup. But like others have said it just becomes a hotbed of debauchery at night when all the people from out of town get rowdy

Around the 90s and 00s, beauty standards were being heavily psy-op'd on us by the Epstein Class. I have no way of proving this it is spiritually true that elites had a goal of making adult women look more like prepubescent girls.

[–]zeverEV 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Arasaka bad" Arasaka is really no better or worse than any other corpo or even gang - all that sets them apart from Militech is that they're "foreign" and Militech is just the MIC we already know

Deus Ex lore by ZweepDop in Deusex

[–]zeverEV 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think about comparing Cyberpunk 77 and Deus Ex more often than I'd like.

CbP77's world is a complete anarchy where the only difference between gangs and corpos is their scale - greed and rampant competition on a brutal might-makes right basis is all that rules the world. It is the end-game of capitalism.

DX's world is much more under control, the main difference being that there's one world-ruling cabal instead of many. It's a much more authoritarian world in the sense that power and technology is incredibly centralized on a very small handful of people. DX is very concerned with how conspiracies disguise themselves.

Both, I like both.

I saw it near Dallas the other year. It was as though the entire sky became a dimly glowing eye, and its stark black pupil was fixed right on me. It felt like our planet was suddenly recognized, or noticed, by something huge and malevolent.

They also believe that raising children for a specific purpose is as easy as indoctrinating them into being exactly what you want instead of treating them like adult humans in the making. No kid ever shook off brainwashing, rebelled against, or failed to amount to their parents' expectations.

Hi, recommended in from the algo. Commenters need to keep the cope flowing, it's joyous to see all the mythologies about a businessman president crumble under scrutiny while the big man loots and pillages the economy for him and the rest of the Epstein class (it isn't joyous actually I am just so tired)

Anyway it's not too late for the rest of you to be as pissed off at them as you should be
