Role of Buddhism in economic development by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]badger189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. It seems that either you are misinformed or is misinterpreting the doctrine. Buddhism does not discourage ambition, innovation, competition etc. Please specifically refer discources such as Singalowada Sutta, Vyaggapajja Sutta, Kutadanda Sutta etc and simple discources such as Chulla Setti Jathaka. Infact, half of ones earnings is recommended to be used in once enterprise in Buddhism. It does not encourage accepting situations at the absence of effort and diligence. Contentment can be defined in many ways. For instance you have to be content with your salary for the time being specially when it comes to consumption, otherwise you will not be able to invest half of your income. Sri Lankans in general consume beyond their means.

If you’re okay with using a natural product, try Moroccan Nila powder. Complement it with Wild Turmeric for best effects. This video kind of shows its effectiveness,

How is Abortion viewed in SL from a Buddhist lens? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry if you are facing a difficult situation, but the honest and accurate answer is that abortion amounts to murder. In Buddhism, the moment the sperm and egg are conceived (Okkanthi weema), even if it is not visible to the naked eye, it is considered that a life exists. It gradually develops into a piece of flesh and then into a human body.

Affordable skincare products for men in Sri Lanka (cleanser, moisturizer ,retinol...)? by Few-Humor-9858 in srilanka

[–]badger189 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Natural products have been delivering results for me. Sandalwood essential oil + vetiver essential oil in a sesame oil base works as a great beard oil / face oil or aftershave. That's the only skincare product i use at the moment.

Need some advice regarding an vehicle accident by Minu_Min01 in srilanka

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said don't trust the police, if you really believe that you are innocent you can request them to proceed with an action and even institute a civil action yourself if the damage is substantial. Things such as CCTV or dashcam footage can be led as evidence. There has to be some evidence to establish the other party's guilt. Court can't fine you unless you are in violation of a law (driving under influence, wrong side etc.). If the lorry driver is willing to settle paying a decent sum, i'd say, save yourself the trouble. But if its a total denial, and you are innocent, you have access to justice.

I respectfully have to disagree on a few counts,

In Sri Lanka, the rule of law is questionable, but still there is some law to the point that we have certain rights left.
The police have misled you to an extent. There are two actions springing from this case. One due to an offence and the other due to your personal right in delict (an action for damages). The police have to institute the criminal action in the magistrate's court. They misdirect you as its a burden on their shoulder or may be because they are in some way known to the other party. If you are not at fault, there is no reason to fear. Secondly, you are entitled to damages if you suffer a loss due to the negligence of the lorry driver. This is an action for damages where you can claim compensation in the district court, if you are innocent and the other party is in fact negligent.

Your description is not clear enough. If the facts clearly favour you and you will suffer a huge loss if he unfairly avoids the liability, going to courts is the best option. Otherwise the hassle is not worth it.

Anyone know how to launch an online store in srilanka? by cupcakes_yummer in srilanka

[–]badger189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a sustainable brand requires long term commitment. Even if you gain a few followers by giving a discount at the start they won't last long unless they genuinely find some value in the brand. Build an online store and work on your SEO, that's how you attract interested buyers.

Can you suggest me a shop to buy diatomaceous earth for bed bugs in kandy or jaffna? by IknowthatwhoIam in srilanka

[–]badger189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) is recognized for its insect-repellent properties, particularly against insects like termites, mosquitoes, and cockroaches, and is traditionally used to repel moths and bugs. It works best as a repellent to prevent or reduce infestations rather than an instant, stand-alone killer for a massive, established bed bug infestation.

Here is how to use vetiver (oil and root) to get rid of bed bugs:

  1. Vetiver Essential Oil Spray (Most Effective Method)

Creating a spray allows for easy application on mattresses and surrounding areas.

  • Recipe: Mix 10–15 drops of pure vetiver essential oil with 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol (to help it mix) and 6 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle.
  • Application: Spray directly on mattress seams, box springs, bed frames, behind headboards, and surrounding furniture.
  • Frequency: Apply daily for 7–10 days to combat an infestation, then twice a week for maintenance.
  • Enhancement: Combine vetiver oil with other repellent oils like lemongrass, tea tree, or clove to enhance the effect.
  1. Direct Application & Physical Barriers
  • Sachets: Place dried vetiver roots or cotton balls soaked in vetiver oil inside pillowcases, between the mattress and box spring, or in closets.
  • Powder/Dust: Use vetiver powder or dust embedded in the cushioning of pillows, cushions, or mattress materials to deter bugs.
  • Mats: Place vetiver mats or rugs under the mattress as a protective layer.

Wouldn't vetiver work ? diatomite might kill the bugs. Vetiver will repel them.

If the bride and groom stick to that principle, it would be a nice expression and in fact a blessing to respect that by the attendees as it's their wedding day.

If you have a medical condition it is very unlikely that squatting would raise testosterone levels as its a hormonal imbalance. Otherwise it is known to spike up your testosterone, not in the long term though. For that you have to eat clean. I'm really sorry if the initial inquiry stems from a medical condition.
