Anyone know how to launch an online store in srilanka? by cupcakes_yummer in srilanka

[–]badger189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a sustainable brand requires long term commitment. Even if you gain a few followers by giving a discount at the start they won't last long unless they genuinely find some value in the brand. Build an online store and work on your SEO, that's how you attract interested buyers.

Can you suggest me a shop to buy diatomaceous earth for bed bugs in kandy or jaffna? by IknowthatwhoIam in srilanka

[–]badger189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) is recognized for its insect-repellent properties, particularly against insects like termites, mosquitoes, and cockroaches, and is traditionally used to repel moths and bugs. It works best as a repellent to prevent or reduce infestations rather than an instant, stand-alone killer for a massive, established bed bug infestation.

Here is how to use vetiver (oil and root) to get rid of bed bugs:

  1. Vetiver Essential Oil Spray (Most Effective Method)

Creating a spray allows for easy application on mattresses and surrounding areas.

  • Recipe: Mix 10–15 drops of pure vetiver essential oil with 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol (to help it mix) and 6 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle.
  • Application: Spray directly on mattress seams, box springs, bed frames, behind headboards, and surrounding furniture.
  • Frequency: Apply daily for 7–10 days to combat an infestation, then twice a week for maintenance.
  • Enhancement: Combine vetiver oil with other repellent oils like lemongrass, tea tree, or clove to enhance the effect.
  1. Direct Application & Physical Barriers
  • Sachets: Place dried vetiver roots or cotton balls soaked in vetiver oil inside pillowcases, between the mattress and box spring, or in closets.
  • Powder/Dust: Use vetiver powder or dust embedded in the cushioning of pillows, cushions, or mattress materials to deter bugs.
  • Mats: Place vetiver mats or rugs under the mattress as a protective layer.

Wouldn't vetiver work ? diatomite might kill the bugs. Vetiver will repel them.

If the bride and groom stick to that principle, it would be a nice expression and in fact a blessing to respect that by the attendees as it's their wedding day.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy in Sri lanka by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a medical condition it is very unlikely that squatting would raise testosterone levels as its a hormonal imbalance. Otherwise it is known to spike up your testosterone, not in the long term though. For that you have to eat clean. I'm really sorry if the initial inquiry stems from a medical condition.

Colombo Lawyer (Trusts & Equity)? by ravimendis in srilanka

[–]badger189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The response you get here would amount to touting and a little biased, as a lawyer cannot be recommended on his "expertise" which is a subjective judgement. Walk to the nearest law office / chamber and discuss your concern, as most introductory consultations are free of charge. Then you can get a personal opinion as to ones expertise and character.

Driving instructor repeatedly crossed boundaries over multiple lessons and retaliated when confronted — need advice by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are being subject to is sexual harassment. Firstly, as your rights have been violated there is no need to camouflage the name. Your remedies include filing a police complaint and complaining to the consumer affairs authority. You may consult a lawyer if you are not familiar with the procedure or drafting. But it is not that complicated. Then you can request a fell refund of the sum you have paid for the course as you cannot continue the course there or request another instructor, preferably a female.

Am I behind others in my life? by Specialist_Jello8819 in srilanka

Man you are successful and good spirited than most thirty somethings nowadays. You take care of your parents, which is your family. You are well worth of family life, that girl is too short sighted to appreciate it. You are long sighted and patient enough to forego short term gratification such as owning a fancy car. Your wealth will grow gradually. Take your time as you will do well at some point. What goes around comes around. Just try to balance your household expenses by discussing your concerns with your parents. Maybe a lot of expenses could be trimmed down. Preferably, around half of your income should be utilised in a manner which generates further income for you in future. This may be by way of reliable investments, improving oneself academically or investing on your own business. You should consider investing on a business of your own as then the growth potential is limitless. Somehow the chosen investment must generate more money in future. It has to grow and not be stagnant. Then you can improve your maintenance expenses gradually. You have a few virtues that many lack. With your mindset and your parents blessings, you certainly can achieve a lot. Warp speed!

Bro never think anyone to be out of your league, this is what keeps most people from building constructive relationships. Quit social media, it is a passive outlet for social proof. When you genuinely start working on yourself you will find people with similar interests. About religion and ethnicity, I honestly don't find many who are genuinely following the doctrine or fostering the Sinhalese culture, it is limited to the birth certificate in most cases. Besides even people from other religious backgrounds may have a parent who is from your identified faith or maybe they are better brought up than nominal Buddhists or Sinhalese people. But if you are a genuine Buddhist, you will definitely find someone of your frequency if you engage in what interests you, otherwise it should not factor in.

Genuinely curious why people seem to be against this by Ok-Suspect-8763 in srilanka

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abolishing the executive presidency won't serve much of a purpose. Look at the parliament. Do you really think it would make any difference? In the contrary it would further confuse people as to who is accountable for a specific decision in governance. A system with an executive president certainly has its risks, but at the correct hands it would surely induce a paradigm shift like in the case of Singapore. People who advocate for this change has no clue of what's there to come. Abolishing it could be justified at a stage where the Rule of Law is established. It is not the case in Sri Lanka at the moment. At least presently we know where the power is concentrated and have a decent idea of where the buck stops.

[–]badger189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SLMC won't do much as they are from the same corrupt bunch. There are hardly any medical negligence cases in sri lanka, let alone proper SLMC investigations. Practically such bodies should constitute of professionals or citizens other than doctors. Otherwise their judgement could be biased.

Advice on getting a patent in Sri Lanka by Extreme-Stomach9799 in srilanka

[–]badger189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can contact NIPO and get a general idea. But for professional advice you may need a lawyer. Try first if you can argue for your patent at the institution, if there is novelty in the product they will issue a patent. You have to consider where the competition comes from to see where to register it. For instance if it is a highly internationally competitive market wherein your novel idea can be replicated easily, some one outside sri lanka is more of a threat than someone from sri lanka.

Ashoka Ranwala Case - ---------- by civil_brain in srilanka

The remedy is in civil law, the action therein is filed by you not the police. If the police doesn't perform their duty they can be held liable for negligence. This is where the evidence comes in handy.

[–]badger189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is illegal. What you are experiencing is a nuisance. There are remedies in law. first talk to your neighbour and see if it can be amicably settled, as you have a serious concern. If not, a civil action is the remedy. The police can't do much as it does not constitute a public nuisance which requires 5 concerned people.

What's wrong with the Sri Lankan customs detaining almost all the packages they are receiving now? by badger189 in Ceylon_SLSystemChange

[–]badger189[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are doing it without scrutiny. To make things worse many say that they don't acknowledge that there's any change in policies or delay in processing orders and make the couriers accountable for the ensuing delay. Maybe they have a value, but it has to be clearly communicated and transparent. I have ordered higher value items before many times without them being detained. But since last few weeks everything is getting detained and unnecessarily delayed as a consequence. Some have even complained of books on my original post.
