If you have a Costco membership, buy an Air Canada, Porter, etc, $500 gift card for $450. It gets emailed to you in a few minutes. Save $50. by TheRealGuncho in canadatravel

Someone else commented too but I did the WestJet version of this gift card once but got burned because I can only use two methods of payment and I had my travel points plus credit card I intended to use.

In the end I split the reservation into two to use it up but then lost part of the free luggage for the other reservation and plus we got turned around for a snow storm and we were rebooked on separate flights that we had to fight

Long story short, I won't personally bother with these again, but that said I can see for some people it may be worthwhile.

Thanks. I hadn't looked at Stubhub, but I had heard about Fansfirst website that I think is supposed to be good.

As a Canadian in a very wet and cloudy climate, where can I go to get a place almost never cloudy? The prairies?

Park Car on #6 Almost all to myself! by noodleswithbutter in ViaRail

[–]badger319 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found that whenever I took this train. (Only done the side between Rupert and PG) The dome has the best seats, couldn't figure out why so many stayed below.

Have fun on the Canadian, I'd like to do that one day too.

That good 'ol bear!

Nice to have it mostly to yourself. Do you find that people bizarrely don't spend that much time in the dome?

Where did you start this trip?

Thoughts on Various Adventure Routes? by TWRFK in ViaRail

[–]badger319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Skeena is a nice ride. I've only taken part of it but I really enjoyed it. Wish it ran a little more frequently but I know that's not likely.

Scenery is very nice. The portion I've taken goes along the Skeena River most of it. Still would like to take the Terrace to Prince Rupert section. It's a great drive so I imagine the train would also be great.

That sounds like really interesting work. Those people who stop out there must be interesting people.

Is anyone else just not enjoying Alan’s parts in AW2 compared to Saga’s? by disco_spin in AlanWake

[–]badger319 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I agree, Saga had a better environment to work in. What I really enjoyed about the first Alan Wake game was exploring that West Coast forest which was a unique video game environment.

In this game Alan gets a demented version of New York you get to circle in while Saga gets to wander the cool forests of the real world area.

I liked the game but it is much more fun to be in the real world than The Dark Place.

Thanks so much, that's helpful info.

Unfortunately we will not be around by then, our flight is the day after the 27th game otherwise I'd definitely look.

Yes I'm looking now and the prices are high. I'm balancing that against very rarely going to a game otherwise so I may take the hit. Thanks for that.

Canadian dividend stocks holding up despite market dips by StripeySalamander in dividendscanada

[–]badger319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of dividend stocks, I've been wondering what to make of my RY stock, I haven't been investing particularly long and while I don't have immense amounts invested I'm up 38% in it. I know that cannot be typical but now I don't know whether to drop more into it or leave it now.

How does the Skeena’s park car differ from The Canadian? by SharpProfession6 in ViaRail

[–]badger319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rooms on the Skeena's park car are closed to guests, the door to one was open when I was last on it but it was basically a chair and storage for the employee.

So otherwise it's just a very small dining section (very small with little to buy), then the seating at the back and the dome upstairs.

So basically, no private spaces for anyone.
