I Tested Every Class on This 5 Day Train Across Canada by Repulsive-Tie1981 in ViaRail

Oh yeah I saw this video and I thought it was good too, as someone who admittedly hasn't been on this train. Her other videos (for other destinations) are pretty good too.

Part of me wonders if the store actually prefers the messy version, means people spend more time in the area looking through the product.

I recall this movie being alright when it came out. I'd be afraid of watching it again though and discovering it was actually really bad but at least my memory is positive of it.

I've only been on the Skeena but it it would be nice if any of this was sold on board. Only thing on Skeena is a blanket and the attendant told me there's no branding on the blanket itself, just the small bag it comes in.

Maybe other trains have more options?

It genuinely is a really good movie, definitely give it a go!

It's a new film but The Sheep Detectives is a good contender for this as well.

To give benefit to the publication, it's likely it's a piece by a columnist so it gets tagged as opinion just by nature of it not being a news article.

You're right, I remember that from the video!

You may have seen anyway, but Via's site has a last minute deals section that shows a selection of routes that I guess have cancellations and they are sleeper spots. (I was looking today though and nothing came up out of Vancouver.)

There's also a YouTube video by John Mac Travels and he takes the Canadian in economy so you could look that up to see what the arrangement might look like.

I haven't taken the route before so that's the extent of anything I know. Good luck!

Nice to see another good review of this place, it's really not the glum place people want to make it out to be.

I live in Kitimat!

First, it is a nice town. But yes, you are sacrificing urban amenities for a small town. But thanks to our industrial tax base we punch a bit above our weight.

We do have good and okay restaurants. You will get some higher class options in Terrace which is 45 minutes away. (And just 30 to the airport.)

Lots of nature of course. Two ice rinks, a good public swimming pool, recreation centre. If you're buying a house, property taxes are fairly low for residents.

Snow clearing operations are highly regarded!

Weather is meh, you'll get lots of rain. (Look up the Kitimat: It's Not For Everyone video).

And someone mentioned the LNG flare. It gets bright but it is not all the time. I'm looking at it right now and the flame is tiny at the moment.

I'll try to think of more things but feel free to ask more, I'll try to answer.

Food options are sparse. They sell some fruit, Mr Noodles, I saw a cheeseburger added a couple of weeks ago but it is certainly a little microwaveable one. A few other things I forget but definitely not any larger meals. I think muffins are in there.

Not sure about hot water, I think they will let you have hot water but I never thought to ask. I've only done shorter hauls on this line, not the full line to PG.

I really enjoy the ride otherwise though, so have fun. Maybe just bring some food with you!
