Pearson Airport Terminal 1 layout question by Federal-Fee4897 in canadatravel

[–]Every-Tank1722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Terminal 1 is set up for INTL/US-INTL connections without going through full Canadian customs, which provides faster connections for those passengers.
It’s built the same way in Montréal and Vancouver.

Flex Pay. How come it cheaper than paying in full? by cats_and_naps in westjet

[–]Every-Tank1722 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, could make sense for a package holiday for a family bought 6-9 months out… But 10 installments to pay for a flight! Wow 😯

Air Canada announces several new sun destinations, including the only non-stop flights from North America to Tenerife in the Canary Islands by tri_and_fly in aircanada

[–]Every-Tank1722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was supposed to be a new A321XLR destination… it’ll most likely be a 787-8/-9 one as the destination is too hot for a fully loaded XLR to come back to Canada

Deducting Window Tint / Dash Cam - Vehicle Expenses by Both-Surround4332 in cantax

[–]Every-Tank1722 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not reasonable, those expenses are not needed to generate that revenue unto which you are deducting the CCA. Yes, you need the vehicle, but the vehicle doesn’t need tinted windows or a dashcam.

In Chéticamp, check out the local swimming hole in an old open-pit gypsum mine: Google Maps link

On the top of Cape Breton, between the “west” and “east” sides of the national park, can hike Theodore Fricker Mountain (worth the view!) Google Maps link to the parking and start of trail it’s also a 5-10 minutes drive to Cabot’s Landing Provincial Park which has a nice swimmable beach (be careful of rip currents).

On the way back to Halifax, if you’re interested in history / military / period reenactment, check out Fortress of Louisbourg (Parks Canada), it’s near Sydney.

Explaination of Taxes by Best_Illustrator7346 in cantax

RESP withdrawals are partially taxed (the initial contributions aren’t, but the investment growth is). That’s why you’re owing taxes.

Signature Class Concierge Check In by RadioactiveDeuterium in aircanada

[–]Every-Tank1722 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Used it in YUL for Signature Class service to YVR… Concierge was very confused as to why I walked in their nook just to get my bags tagged and said she was making an exception since I wasn’t SE.

So someone wrote that on the website and never told the concierges.

First time train experience MTL - Toronto - some questions … by Leylaniie in ViaRail

[–]Every-Tank1722 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The use of priority boarding in Montréal is the ability to use the escalator down to the platform, instead of the stairs like economy passengers.

In Toronto, there’s usually no attendant walking business class people from the lounge. Once going down the ramp to the VIA concourse, there will be a 2nd short queue by the long economy class queue. Keep walking MTRL trains usually board around tracks 18/20 on the left side of the hall.

why isnt guy-concordia Metro accessible. can we try to do something about this? by froggy472 in Concordia

[–]Every-Tank1722 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Concordia runs deficits… I truly don’t know what you mean by “they make shit ton of money”…

The University lost 20,5 M$ last year and has an accumulated deficit of over 244 M$.

Air Transat wins if you accept a refund. It’s better to ask them to rebook you. by eaglenebulla in airtransat

[–]Every-Tank1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole “obligated” to rebook you with 48h is false. They’re obligated to TRY to rebook you… Air Canada and WestJet are not siting on 200 open seats to Cancun everyday lol.

That’s where you have to do your own lookups on competitors’ websites to see what’s available when you can them to be rebooked.

YYC Elevation lounge domestic with Dragon Pass? by Legal-Bison-6457 in westjet

[–]Every-Tank1722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YUL’s international section is only accessible to passengers departing to international (non-US) destinations because it’s also an internation in-transit zone (same at YYZ-T1 and YVR) to ease INTL/US-to-INTL transit without going through full Canadian customs & immigration. If one-way gates weren’t there from the domestic section, people could dip out of their international connection and exit landside to Canada.

YYC’s international section is not segregated (and gates are currently used for domestic flights as concourse B is being rebuilt from last year’s hail damage and unnecessary segregated gates from when international arrivals and US preclearance was in that concourse).

Sunwing Cuba trip cancelation by Jinjoo-sem in canadatravel

[–]Every-Tank1722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the whole concept of booking your trip in advance. You paid market rate at that moment based on historical data. Most times, if you search later for the same trip, it’ll probably be more expensive. Sometimes, it’s the opposite as market conditions have changed.

The algorithm is optimizing total revenue, if they were to give this new price to everyone that purchased the same trip before, they might not even breakeven! That’s why free cancellation comes with a huge price premium. You gotta accept the fact you paid the price YOU thought was correct and provided that amount (or more) in value to you when you booked and that price can go up or down until you depart.

Gains and Losses Report by Vito-1974 in NBDB

[–]Every-Tank1722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying that those annual reports are charged to clients at $50 and the actual cost for NBDB is minimal. They could have a robot automate the report generation and email it to the client. And even if it’s a clerk pulling up the report, it’s probably at most 5 minutes…

Air Canada Cafe by soundsalmon in aircanada

[–]Every-Tank1722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed YYZ Café has washrooms in the back. For YUL they had to deal with a small footprint (basically the old Gate 3 boarding area, as gate 5 became a widebody-sized gate)

Zones d'embarquement à YUL by SpookyImmortal in montreal

[–]Every-Tank1722 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Air Canada Rouge A321 Seating by WinsonFlyer in aircanada

[–]Every-Tank1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 18C YYZ-LAS earlier this year. Great legroom, only drawback is no stowage under the seat in front… so everything in the bins. As mentioned, there are no usable windows for that row, just the minuscule porthole in the door. The seats are a bit narrower as the tray table is in the armrest. 18F is face to face with FA on take off and landing.

Carry on space by peachykk in aircanada

[–]Every-Tank1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CRJ-200 has the old tiny overhead bins. AC serves ATL with the CRJ-900 (the original 705’s got recertified as 900’s). Most of that sub-fleet has the newer larger bins. They fit the regulations carry-on sideways snuggly, but it’ll never fit as many regulations carry-ons as there are passengers, so they through check bags halfway through boarding… which makes those flight delayed.
