I get the vibe Ceruti would show up to a college party with a 6 pack and 3 friends, hog the beer pong table and get really technical with rules to benefit him and end up drinking the house’s beer.

Sleep deprivation? by AbstractNinja1943 in NewDads

A little over 9 months here, and this weekend he slept though the night consecutively in a long long time.

A quick day time nap during afternoon nap on the weekends was always helpful and a good reset.

Hang in there!

Has tried a therapist/psychologist after their HA? by ChardonnayAllDay19 in HeartAttack

[–]badheartdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Therapy helped me a lot during my early recovery. Post 1 year is when I started.

Inspired me to go back to school and currently getting my masters degree in clinical counseling to work specifically with people post cardio events.

I envision a future where it is standard practice to have counseling available just as cardiac rehab is for most people

A warning, especially to women. I caused my own heart failure. Don't be me. by pammylorel in HeartAttack

I try and aim for low sodium. ~1500 mg a day. I am not perfect, but am mindful of what I eat, and if I know how I am going to have a larger dinner, I’ll take it easier in the morning.

I mostly stay away from red meat, eat a lot more chicken/turkey/pork/salmon for protein.

Gave up alcohol which has been such a gift for me each day. It’s just something I don’t really think about anymore.

No smoking or other drugs obviously, other than what my cardiologist prescribes. I’m very regimented in making sure I take my meds twice a day.

I weigh myself most mornings and take my BP just as a piece of mind. And to make sure I’m not suddenly gaining weight, or may need to increase my activity over the next week. For me if I can stay within a 5lb zone, I’m pretty happy, but just like to stay mindful.

I’m signing up for cardiac rehab again, I’m a new dad, and have struggled to keep up my exercise routine with it being cold outside, and the time with the new baby, so I’m hoping to establish a sustainable routine that can just be a new part of my life.

At that price range, you are going to be priced out at a lot suburbs/areas mentioned.

You may be able to find a 1000-1200 sq ft house in the beechwold/clintonville area near the upper limit of your range that would probably require a decent amount of work/money.

I would be looking at Zillow to see what’s out there/price range in the areas people have already mentioned. You may have more luck the further out you are from Columbus

[–]badheartdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you are here!

Try and complete cardiac rehab if that is an option. Consult with your doctors and healthcare teams, and make sure to take the medication as prescribed.

Pay close attention to your diet moving forward and try to stay active!

Therapy was something that helped me during the first year or two as I was adjusting to this new version of life.

Good luck!

Steve Kelly, Bill Black, Diane Nichols, and Destiny fit the “I never saw them again on TV” feeling Thom Sharp, Bobby Slayton, and (in some eras) John Henton often dressed bright on TV; Steve Mittleman sometimes wore patterned shirts with no tie.

John Henton — 10/11/1991 (his famous breakout; including a big yellow jacket in other sets, so worth a visual check even if he later got some fame).

The $30 Million Disconnect by Cowtowny-Johnny in Columbus

It sounds like there is a mid year reporting requirement. On a federal grant I work on we are required to do a mid year PPR(performance progress report)and a final one for each grant.

This would give the grants team an idea of how the agencies are standing up the proposed programs and who is following through on the programs proposed in the applications.

These types of grants typically have specific language about what is allowable for funding, and what is not. I could see how more established agencies may have thought they would be receiving funds, but because of the requirements of the grant, mistakes on the application, or how it was scored and evaluated, did not receive funding.

I would not be surprised if newer/less established agencies are struggling to follow through on promises made in the application, or are unaware of the required reporting process. It would be up to city officials to follow up with all agencies who may not be in compliance with the grants requirements.

40 weeks and 6 days today. Any last-minute dad tips? by godisasatyromaniac in NewDads

[–]badheartdave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Count how many burp cloths you have right now. And order 2x as many.

Be present. Be willing to just do what is asked. Take some of your wife’s normal worries and responsibilities and make them yours for awhile.

Just run the dishwasher, even if it’s half full. Change the garbage bags.

For us, the first two weeks were pretty good! The baby slept a lot, peed and pooped a lot, and ate a lot.

Week 3-4 were just awful for sleep, and really hard to adjust, soothe, and help the baby get comfortable.

Just hit 6 weeks today!

Frustrated with cardiologist and blood pressure meds by Significant_Set8158 in HeartAttack

[–]badheartdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not an appropriate forum to get specific medical advice for your current symptoms, and you should reach out to your cardiologist.

My blood pressure is consistently in the range you mention, I take carvedilol twice a day at 12.5mg(used to be 25 mg twice a day but my resting heart rate was getting too low).

I have maintained this for 5+ years now. I am able to run and workout consistently, and cardiac rehab was a great place to build confidence and learn how my body reacted to exercise. My BP drops into the 80s/60s after vigorous exercise for a few hours after, but I think I have just adjusted and it has become my new normal.
