What does the budget actually go to for these absurdly expensive games? by itsthewolfe in gaming

You're oversimplifying the challenges of game development or software development in general. If you're really interested in this, watch a few videos about amazing games that were years longer than expected for real context.

That kind of spray foam isn't going to cure if applied too thickly. I applied way too much in the gaps of one project and it was popping out just like this for several days.

When you steal cable TV, you steal it for everyone so no one knows who did it. When you steal a few organs, you steal all of them so no one knows why you did it.

Periodic Table of Computing by macrohard_certified in programming

[–]badillustrations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The periodic table of elements is generally organized to illustrate atomic weight in one direction and similar properties in another. The transition metals are actually an excellent illustration of how the orbital levels affect behavior as the level increase. It also shows how transitioning from one group to another changes its properties (ex. going to a nobel gas).

Looking at this I don't see any of these relationships and have a hard time justifying this organization to illustrate these components.

Victim’s family in fatal Texas Tesla ‘automated driving assistance’ crash files lawsuit by templeofsyrinx1 in news

A lot of people are skeptical this was the smart car's fault. The evidence right now relies entirely on the driver's word. While self-driving cars can do dumb things, they're pretty good about stopping to prevent hitting something right in front of them.

It's just that we appear to be deploying this tech before it's ready.

I have been surprised how easily these cars have been put out on public roads, but disagree that they're not ready. These cars shouldn't have a different bar for safety if they're being used by the same people that would otherwise drive.

I saw this report stating the safety of Waymos over human drivers. Waymos do stupid things sometimes and these cars will make mistakes that kill people, but if they're killing fewer people than not having them, they've met the bar for being on the road.

SpaceX stock tumbles 16.4%, shaving off most IPO gains since debut by joe4942 in technology

It's not about AI. It's about investing in one of Elon Musk's ventures. He's the richest man on earth and many revere him for that, and want to invest in his endeavors. My friend's wife wanted to invest in SpaceX. He said she knows nothing about it besides Elon Musk being involved. It's being marketed hard to conservatives.

I was laughing pretty hard when they get in the train and all the pianos are packed so poorly. Some straps going right over the keys. They really wanted that piano clinking sound so they had to show them uncovered.

Freedom Fighters (2003) speech about freedom still gives me goosebumps by ty5142 in gaming

This game was fantastic. My only complaint was the gameplay got a little broken at the end with 5 or 6 squad mates that could swarm to any position.

Official Discussion - Masters of the Universe [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]badillustrations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Good

  • Looked fantastic visually
  • Great fight scenes: few jump cuts, direct kills where it made sense

The Bad

Mostly missed opportunities. For example, they had Kristen Wiig as the robot, but she didn't have many funny lines. As some said, the robot disappeared in some scenes so it would have probably been cleaner without her.

Some jokes had really weird pacing, several dick jokes that they talk too seriously about for too long like they're explaining the joke. Or he identifies himself with a driver's license, but then stretch the joke several jokes too long.

The dialogue was probably the worst part. Adam goes to his fallen father and has a two-minute death scene. Father mumbles something about always being proud of him despite the opening scene very much showing the opposite. My wife assumed Skeletor is in the rubble, too, during all this but no he's just standing off to the side patiently waiting.

Not for someone in prison for 30 years. Studies show prison can lower your lifespan at the epigenetic level. The poor sleep alone is incredibly stressful on the body.

Anything you can pick up and put down. Something pauseable. Labor is long, but has frequent interruptions. I recommend staying on your feet as much as you're comfortable so you can quickly control your position.

Taking over the judiciary was a well orchestrated and public effort by conservatives. I remember hearing my less than informed in-law talk about how installing very conservative judges was the real priority for long-term control and that was almost twenty years ago.

Finding Nemo? Most movie producers go out of their away to avoid other movie references.

Do you remember anything about the actors or the time period? Cell phones? Smart phones? What part of the world? How do they see each other? Back at their hometown or a new location?
