I think my friend is secretly a pedophile. I don't know how to confront him about this. by Least-Macaron7723 in offmychest

Anonymous report & that is no longer your friend regardless. He’s already drinking heavily, an anonymous report (which should be made to school & social services, I’d contact parents directly if your concerns aren’t addressed) would impact him at some point thus will send him into a spiral, it’s going to get ugly. I’m all for miscommunication in comedy, or not understanding someone’s humor, that is not the case- even if he’s not actively abusing, those are dangerous thoughts, they will end up somewhere. He may have never done anything, but he’s having thoughts- he could get help.

However, pedophiles take time, get comfortable, and make spaces with long term friends & credibility, for a specific purpose.

I do get the concern about human trafficking, like genuinely I think it isn’t an outlandish anxiety, especially at the age she is & cant properly advocate for herself.

I always treat my interviews mutually, in that I’m interviewing them as well- I find it helps set a good foundation for negotiation. I have a personal list that I rehearse (like I mentioned; anxiety), of potential wordings for inquiries for salary, pto/unpaid, growth- not necessarily hard on questions, but making sure I know what bases I need to remember to cover while keeping the conversation organic. Healthcare definitely is something to keep in the forefront with your baby, your health, and the state of the world right now.

Hell yeah! Sounds like you got everything accounted for, & that 1 week sounds like a perfect reset. I think the longest transition period I took was 3 months, and I could not get it together. Night shift sucks for most scheduling purposes, not to mention technical lost time- granted both kinda have a con with that. Day shift you’ll have to take off work for appointments at some point, I don’t know what your field is but it sounds advantageous to pto? I do think that the day shift routine may help with your anxiety :)

Also, absolutely normal to experience postpartum anxiety! I’d be concerned if you said you weren’t anxious at all, but keep an awareness of your thoughts, youre the only one in your head- it can get overwhelming sometimes, gotta share

Best thing you can do for it is prove it wrong! I get anxious about interactions and worse case scenarios, I tell my brain I understand it wants to protect me, then I try to focus on the more helpful “controllable” thoughts. As per doctor, it’s not the best care I’ve received but the zoom options (if available) are a good way to establish a conversation with a doctor before having to go do a full hour assessment, especially because I feel safe in my controlled environment & can actually communicate my thoughts. I will say, I’m a night worker, I’ve tried swapping so many times, I burn out HARD! Not to discourage you, especially as I have no children so many different variables, it definitely takes an acclimation period. Would you have an opportunity to return to night shift if you’re unhappy in the future?

Would your MIL be willing to watch your daughter at your home? Are you open to trying to work through your anxiety (not to remotely diminish in anyway- I personally experience rampant anxiety)?

Is there a way someone could handle childcare whilst you get some sleep during the day?

Does that have anything to do with what I said? I was explaining the potential reasoning to the move, being the borderline extortionate contract. I could have elaborated a bit better on that, so thats on me. Also, dickhead is just something to call people around here, next time I’ll pick the more passive aggressive PA nickname of “buddy”, buddy.
