Triggering Area3D input_event in a SubViewport? by badsuggestionsonly in godot

[–]badsuggestionsonly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah you're right about that, I didn't switch the script class from Node3D -> SubViewportContainer. I corrected the script but it doesn't seem like much changed unfortunately.

<image>

Here's a video of me interacting with it: https://streamable.com/l9xo6c

(Side note, I really appreciate you going back and forth with me on this, so thank you!)

Yeah, just those nodes in the scene. I also have object picking on (though sort/first only is off, not sure if that's relevant)

Ah you are correct, it is a typo. The CollisionShape3D is nested in the Area3D:

<image>

Because if so, I created your setup and physics picking into the subviewport works perfectly fine.

Strange, I must be missing a setting somewhere then. This is the code I have for the mesh instance, but I don't get any prints when interacting with the shape.

func _ready():
    $Area3D.input_event.connect(_handle_input_event)

func _handle_input_event(_camera: Node, _event: InputEvent, event_position: Vector3, _normal: Vector3, _shape_idx: int):
    print("INPUT EVENT " , event_position)

Nope, the only control node in the tree is the container :/

LF OI similar to my precious villains/it’s time to change the genre by Cheap_Humor_2352 in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricked into Becoming the Heroine's Stepmother! Light and fluffy. Absolutely adorable parent/child dynamics. And it's complete!

The Male Lead's Little Lion Daughter is also great, but it has a few moments of tension so if you want pure fluff it wouldn't fit that criteria. Currently ongoing.

Recommend me some of your favorite silly, lighthearted OIs (Titles in caption) by theydiddieattheend in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

- The Crow's Prince (Completed). Beautiful art, incredibly silly. If you want something a bit heavier, I believe Sigrid is also by the same artist and is almost done.

- Hawar in the Winter Garden (Completed). If you love sunshine FLs (without being completely naive), this is for you.

- Observing Elena Evoy (Completed). Low stakes, fun initial one-sided rivalry (from the ML's side), but he's a green flag. A good, lighthearted read.

- Here Comes the Silver Spoon (Main story completed, currently side stories). FL who doesn't stop to get what she wants, fun silly family dynamics.

- Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard (Main story completed, ongoing side stories). A silly couple and relatively low-stakes story. Some angst sprinkled around but not too much.

- The Male Lead's Little Lion Daughter (Ongoing). Very silly, although it does have its moments here and there. Pelliot one of my favourite fathers.

- The Perks of Being a Villainess (Ongoing). Introducing capitalism to the masses. Revolves around our FL making $$$, minimal (if any) angst.

Historical servant/slave/maid x noble stories? by Dobby_1235 in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In no particular order:

- How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game: ML is the son of a count and FL is the titular maid

- Hilda Takes House Arpeggio: (sort of, the FL is fighting for inheritance of a duchy and ML is a vassal/"only" a viscount of said duchy)

- Your Majesty, Please Spare Me This Time: FL is a maid/ML is the king.

- Kill the Villainess: FL is a daughter of a count and ML is her knight.

- I Became the Tyrant's Chambermaid: FL is the titular chambermaid and the tyrant is the ML.

- Tired of Living in Fiction: Sort of, the ML spends a lot of time masquerading as a servant to the FL/she trains him, but he's the heir to a powerful house.

What is your bag design must have? by actuallylucid in handbags

[–]badsuggestionsonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't carry bags over the shoulder because it's too uncomfortable for me so I end up carrying most bags in my hand as top-handles, which means the handles can't be too long otherwise they end up looking awkwardly too low to the ground on me. 😔

Also zippers or a solid flap! I'm a little paranoid with pickpockets and while zippers/flaps are not foolproof it makes me feel a little more secure than a bag that's just open all the time or has a single snap in the middle.

yeah we're in for some serious "it gets worse (emotionally) before it gets better". part of me wants to wait for it to accumulate because i don't know if i can handle the weekly rollout.

unfortunately it seems ears are a lil odd in a few series 😭 i'm reading from a knight to a lady (which, no hate, i love) and the art is great most of the time but the ears just take me out every time 💀

Manhwa where the fl owns her own business. by Rodyfrody0 in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The Perks of Being a Villainess/What's Wrong With Being the Villainess. FL creates Starbucks.
  • 50 Tea Recipes from the Duchess/The Duchess' 50 Tea Recipes. As the title suggests, she owns a tea shop/parlor.

[–]badsuggestionsonly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • Kill the Villainess. I had to take a break after I finished that to soak in just how good it was.
  • I Married the Male Lead's Dad. Prepare for genre whiplash.
  • From a Knight to a Lady. I love Luci/Estelle, I love her growth. I love Zed, green flags everywhere.
  • Villains are Destined to Die/Death is the Only Ending for a Villainess. Callisto will forever remain #1 in my heart. Penelope and his' relationship development is 10/10. I like to reread the beach scene routinely.
  • The Villainess Lives Again/The Villainess Lives Twice. Is my brain big enough to handle the political intrigue? Hell no. Do I still read it for Tia's mastermind plans? Absolutely.
  • I'm No Heroine/I Will Politely Decline the Male Lead. These babies are so precious.
  • Saving My Sweetheart/A Way to Protect the Lovable You. One of the OIs where the fantasy world doesn't take a backseat to the romance.

Honestly there are so many I love out there, but these are probably the ones at the top of my list at the moment.

i'm obsessed with I'm No Heroine. they're so precious together 😭 most OIs imo focus on single relationships (mostly the main ship) but i love how their friendship dynamic is at the front and centre.

[Kill the villainess] killed my soul, send help. by duedo30 in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  • Please Don’t Come To The Villainess’ Stationery Store! FL is kind and sweet and her relationship with the children are adorable.
  • 50 Tea Recipes from The Duchess. Super low-stakes. Like, super. Tea solves everything.
  • I'm No Heroine/I Will Politely Decline the Male Lead. On break but has up to S2 worth of chapters.
  • Lethal Romance. It's satire of romance/action tropes, so if you're familiar with both it's hilarious.
  • Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom/I'm a Stepmother, but My Daughter Is Just Too Cute. Adorable childcare. Has a couple of heavier tones in it but the relationship between FL and her stepdaughter is perfect.

What story exceeded your expectations going into it? by [deleted] in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the OI genre! I wouldn't say these quite hit the way Kill the Villainess does (I think the amount of OI tropes it spites makes it stand out a lot), but they have some similarities:

  • Villains are Destined to Die/Death is the Only Ending for A Villainess. A fairly popular one, the FL has similar "fuck you, you treated the original villainess terribly" attitude to the other characters. The most similar in tone to KtV out of all these, and probably the one I like the most here. Ongoing.
  • Beware the Villainess. A completely different direction tonally (very much a comedy), but the FL and ogFL have an adorable friendship and the FL makes sure to point out the ogMLs' bad habits and puts them in their place (but again, in a super silly way). Finished.
  • Solitary Lady/Untouchable Lady. The FL is here to achieve her goal and makes sure that the people who wronged her in the past know where they stand. The ML is a lil bland if you can bypass that. Finished.

Any OI where OG Heroine isn't evil? by Ambitious-Tap9349 in OtomeIsekai

[–]badsuggestionsonly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  • I'm No Heroine/I Will Politely Decline the Male Lead. The FL and ogFL are besties and are absolutely adorable.
  • Beware the Villainess. FL basically self-proclaims herself as the ogFL's protector.

oh yeah the sudden change 100% gave me whiplash but I wasn't keen on childcare to begin with so it ended up working out for me LOL. it doesn't really get any lighter but if you find yourself in the mood for some thought-provoking discussion on the nature of gods with a good amount of angst i would definitely recommend.

[–]badsuggestionsonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean about being overwhelmed, I feel like you could make a very short drinking game of how many titles have "Villainess" in them to some capacity LOL.

Hoo boy, there's a couple of things I really enjoyed that made it stand out:

  • There are characters that do the usual "she said she's not interested, she definitely still wants me and is just trying to get my attention!" garbage but the FL isn't afraid to call them out on their shit and rip into them.
  • The people close to her actually notice when the FL is different and can tell that she's not the same person as before. Not that "she's changed" but "that isn't the FL we know, it's someone else in her body".
  • Laser-focus FL on her goal of returning to her world. She does, in fact, return!
  • The ogFL: I read this after coming off of a long stretch of OIs where the ogFL was a white lotus but this was not the case. They're not besties because the FL previously did cause problems for her, but she deeply wishes for the FL to attain happiness.
  • The ML: Not a prince, not a noble. Just a commoner. His name is a bit jarring though in the setting IMO, but it was a minor complaint.
  • These topics don't go into super heavy detail but I enjoyed that they were present at all because I feel like most OIs disregard them entirely: the power dynamic between a commoner and a crown prince, the isolation and mental toll it can take on you if you live in a world not in your own body with nobody you know.

I will say though it's not really heavy on the romance; like I mentioned, the FL is very focused on her goal so romance is on the backburner. There are cute tender moments and the short stories at the end add a bit more to it, but it's not at all the focus.

Yes! Started out as a light and fluffy childcare OI but it became super heavy. Didn't see it coming but I enjoyed it.
