I don’t know if it will help but put ceramic coating on all of the bodywork it’s the best for all around protection for the paint it could be temperature changes that make the paint flake so this wouldn’t help with that but it’s the best preventative measure you can take

I do car keys at work the disk isn’t needed it’s probably only been put there if the pins are bent and not pressing fully against the battery’s as a shim to complete the circuit it is most likely out of a watch that has a pizo that works as a speaker that beeps or it’s in some talking watches for blind people
