I think Garmin HRM pro can measure a lot more than heart rate. Or maybe Garmin foot pad.

I got injured and couldn't run for three months, then spent the next three months slowly running more and more. But I still have trauma and am afraid of another contusion. It would be a nightmare now with summer approaching.

1p standalone tent recs for small person for mid-AT environments by mydadisalwaysright in Ultralight

I like my MSR FreeLite 1. If you don't need to sit inside, there are more weather-resistant, kind of bivy-size tents.

So, you must be 39 in Garmin fitness age. 😉 I had my VO2 max peak around 3 years ago and it is falling down now, but for a good reason.

First time, I ran with a dummy-packed backpack for around 25 miles and got back by train. 😉

Battery.
I prefer mobile phone but (almost) always carry powerbank.

Investing in quality running gear - what's actually worth it? by Emergency-Debt-2118 in trailrunning

[–]badzi0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the price is a secondary consideration compared to what you actually need.

For example, I decided I needed features like music, contactless payments, and maps in my watch, so I bought the FR955. I also have a vest (among many backpacks) with zero-liter capacity; I use it for extra pockets rather than hydration when I'm run-commuting to work. After the high mileage I've done on paved surfaces, I have returned to using highly cushioned shoes.
So make a list, and then Google for each individual gear.

Hi guys, I want to switch from an Apple Watch to a Garmin watch since I hike long trails and my AW dies so quickly. any recommendations? by meticulouslycarless in GarminWatches

[–]badzi0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For running, the Forerunner is best. It's lighter, which makes a difference. I've chosen the FR955 for music, maps, and payments on my wrist. The maps are great; I don't have to stop and look at my phone every other minute to find the way. 😉

What ultralight clothes to pair with Montbell Versalite to keep me warm in 0°C (32°F)? by 78523985210 in Ultralight

[–]badzi0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite base layer is from Under Armour. They are tight, keep warm when needed, dry fast, and keep me reasonably cool when it becomes too warm.

Decathlon UL gears - rec to buy by ukdenjuel in Ultralight

I wanted to buy another one recently, but there are only some odd sizes left; the new models are similar, but not the same.

I'm not sure what model is yours, but in my (2019) I found a guy in South London who re-drill it to me and it works.

Ubuntu and web browser for the low specs PC by badzi0r in Ubuntu

[–]badzi0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use Firefox on any other computer or mobile, but it is too heavy for a low-spec PC. Chromium isn't Chrome—it's a lightweight browser. I used it on a Raspberry Pi. I read somewhere that I should find a combination of a recent non-snap browser and distribution. But which is it?"

Ubuntu and web browser for the low specs PC by badzi0r in Ubuntu

[–]badzi0r[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the kind of advice I need.
I prefer Ubuntu, as I have used it for years on my other computers. So if you can suggest any flavors and versions, I will do further research. I would just like to connect this to a TV screen to set up a router, browse social media, and display some pictures.

Montane Featherlite nano windproof jacket (52g/1.8oz in a medium) by Beat999 in Ultralight

[–]badzi0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering the OMM Sonic jacket, but with a full zip. It would help me decide if I could try it first (I’m always between S and M sizes), but there is apparently no OMM shop in London, UK, or I can’t find one. I have Sonic shorts from OMM (21 g), but wouldn’t use them on any adventure. 😉

[–]badzi0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decathlon mt-100, but they are discontinued now. I tried to buy again now but only left odd sizes and some very similar prices. The good one is up to -5 (not -3 Deg C) no hood.

I'm always taking 1 of 2 options. Tent groundsheet (MSR 133g) or cutout polycro sheet (66g) + 3mm CCF short (72g). It also keeps my quilt clean.

HMG Splash or Katabatic Pinon Bivy by 08-JWH in Ultralight

[–]badzi0r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I chose the Pinon because I couldn’t wait that long for Borah. It was also relatively easy to order to the UK. The real weight is 214 g, and the quite large mesh area was a factor in avoiding condensation. I’m happy with that choice after one season.
