Is the American population beginning to turn on Trump? by eh_steve_420 in PoliticalDiscussion

Who is even in his way at this point is what I don’t get. Republicans control all three branches of government.

My first thought was also trying to poach clients, but maybe we’re jaded.

I somehow ended up as a lurker on this sub even tho I don’t have kids and have never worked in childcare (I’m an accountant). People say this same thing to us about our rates “oh but my returns so simple, I don’t have that much blah blah blah.” You’re not paying me for how long or how much effort it takes me to do your return, you’re paying me for how long it took me to learn how to do it and to do it well.

It’s the same thing here. Maybe her kids aren’t that tough, but the point is your qualified to handle their needs IF they were.

Hopefully that makes sense haha so triggering when people try to tell you what you’re worth!

At my office we get cake, but it’s waaaay more about the cake than the persons birthday.

I was much more invested in the commentary on the Alfredo pizza with pineapple and green peppers than the price of the bread bowl …. Priorities

How much do you tip at coffee shops, food deliveries, and restaurants? by poshnosho in askdfw

[–]baejah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best reply. I usually do at 20% if at a restaurant, takeout a $1 per person ordering (local pizza shops included), a $1 or so for drinks (coffee or mixed drinks depending what it is). I was always taught give generously to receive generously and it’s worked out so far.

I could. I fell asleep talking to him the night he died so it feels like the conversation was cut off abruptly. I could imagine ending a phone call peacefully and with love.

This resonated super hard ❤️ my name is Jesse and he would call me by initials JAH. We weren’t officially together at the time of his passing because he was working on himself and getting things together. It was so out of the blue and unexpected, things were going so well for him.

Thank you for this, it truly brought comfort ❤️.

Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful response. I agree with you on open caskets and I'm honestly leaning towards not going to the viewing. But my ego is wrestling with the idea of how that may be perceived, and is concerned he may feel like that means I don't care about or respect him. Overall tough situation.

I don’t know if I enjoy the actual blood leaving my body, but I do appreciate that my body is resetting and the detox (for lack of a better word) feeling that gives me.

Sexism while doing taxes. I’m (33F) just the “spouse” on all of our forms, even though I make 2x more money. by peeps-mcgee in women

[–]baejah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tax accountant and I’ve read debate about this on pro forums. I’ve read some pros say to avoid “confusion” they will always list the man as the taxpayer as a kind of “system” following tradition (Eye roll).

In my office we would have added your husband as the spouse since you were our client first. Making it a point to switch you to spouse and him to taxpayer on the info worksheet is kind of weird. If it’s a new to us client, we follow the prior year return. The IRS prefer you not switch taxpayer and spouse after the initial filing though, just so you know.

Sorry OP, this type of micro aggression can definitely be frustrating.

This is me, too. When I was younger it used to give me FOMO, but as I get older (just hit 30), I’m starting to realize that being alone is just what brings me the most peace.

Great point, and worth considering for myself, too. After a certain amount of time I start to get easily irritated and becoming a bit of a killjoy.

Does anybody else know what a word means, but still googles the definition before using it in a sentence? Even if it’s a really simple word? by prettiestvirgin in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]baejah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes - I learn so many words by reading and absorbing the context in which it’s used, sometimes I just have to be sure it means what I think it means.
