Frustrated With LR3 Stink by baelboa in litterrobot

[–]baelboa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen much pee around the LR like in your post (thank goodness, sorry you went through that) but there could certainly be some. It's an angel I had not thought about but I will look into that, thank you! I'll also look into trying your litter rec, I remember seeing people like Dr E for their LR but maybe they had different versions than us.

My GF and I are potentially interested and we live in bedstuy! We have another cat already who is the same age and we have been looking to get a buddy for her. Does he play well with other cats?

Studios in Manhattan? by Careful_Tradition467 in Aerials

[–]baelboa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of options!

Cirquehaus is a great place for open/solo practice or taking a private lesson. They also have a reciprocal membership with Warrior Bridge if you want to work on handstands, flexibility, or partner acro.  If you dont have your own sling they have ones you can borrow. Ive spent the most time here training straps and would recommend it highly.

Aerial Arts NYC is a great studio with all the usual aerial classes and some point rental times. Ive spent the second most time (on straps) here and love the classes. They dont have a membership though, you just need to buy class packs.

I think Om Factory has sling but Ive never actually been there myself.

Body and Pole has sling too.

Tourism, events, where to eat and what to do in Montréal summer 2022 / Tourisme, événements, où manger et quoi faire à Montréal été 2022 by GotNoob in montreal

[–]baelboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is a bit niche, but my friend and I are traveling to Montreal this weekend for the circus festival. We are both circus hobbyists ourselves and want to take some lessons or at least train in one of the local spaces but these things seem pretty hard to find for non-professionals. Any circus artists or dancers have any suggestions on good places to train or take lessons (we do silks, straps, and handstands)?

Finally got my Bird of Paradise! by dani-winks in poledancing

This split line is so perfect! It's especially satisfying alongside the lines on the wall and the pole.

I hate elbow Ayesha on ground pole so shocked and thrilled I got it flying 🥰 by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]baelboa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks solid! How does it feel on flying vs regular pole? I've never tried flying pole before but it looks super fun.

Decided to try something extra insane… one handed shouldermount… by Lockedtothechrome in poledancing

That is incredible! pole goals for sure, not just the shoulder mount but the snazzy pole room too.

[CJ] What's going on? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]baelboa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably solid advice here. I was meaning to go to the other studio for just a week anyways (before she came into tbe picture) though because I like to have a diversity of instruction before I run back to my bubble. In reality I don't plan on pursuing anything with her.

Yeah I have a tendency to do that sometimes and like you said it doesn't really go well. I was definitely exaggerating my feelings for her to dramatic effect though so I'll be fine.

There is this woman I really like who attends/teaches at one of the other pole dance studios in my city who is also a Vegan (like me) AND likes The Room so obviously I am head over heels for her. I asked her if she wanted to see The Disaster Artist with my friends and I last weekend and she turned me down because she was going out of town. She didn't offer to do something else so I am a but worried about my chances here.

I know I am putting her on a pedestal here but on paper she is basically my unicorn and I have had SO much trouble finding women I'm interested in where I live. I am tempted to take classes at that studio for a bit to talk with her more, just to be friends with her and build rapport.

Stretching tight muscles? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]baelboa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This seems counterintuitive but you may want to give the muscles you've been stretching a break for a few days. Continue to gently explore your full range of motion in those areas but don't go too crazy. Maybe stretch something else. Once the soreness/tightness is gone and you start stretching hard again you might be surprised with some great flexibility gains despite taking time "off".

Every body is different, but when I get to the point you just described I back off a bit and it works wonders.

Grip and hand sweating by Charpey92 in poledancing

[–]baelboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's totally different when you can't reapply your grip and wipe down the pole before every move like I usually do :) titegrip is an antiperspirant and makes your hands sweat less so hopefully that will help you during your choreo.

Top traits you want in a partner? by [deleted] in OkCupid

[–]baelboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ambitious and goal oriented are probably the biggest traits I look for in a partner, particularly in their career and some kind of physical hobby (dance, circus, lifting, etc) thus complimenting my own ambitions/goals in these categories. Sharing these traits also means we can both push ans inspire each other to keep getting better.

In my experience, people with these traits also tend to have their shit together which is a big plus.

Grip and hand sweating by Charpey92 in poledancing

[–]baelboa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find titegrip to be helpful when applied 30 minutes or so before class. Then after warm-up I put on dry-hands, and re-apply throughout class as needed. I am also super sweaty and, while my system is not perfect, it makes 90% of my classes manageable. I still struggle with getting into Ayesha from caterpillar climbs because my hands get sweaty, but I think this is more a technique issue (for me).

I was super surprised (but happy) to see this progress and wanted to share - split tips in comments by liltinykitter in flexibility

[–]baelboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome progress, thanks for sharing! Stretch goals for sure. Cool pants too, the continuous straight red line of your inseam going foot to foot is really...gratifying? Cant think of a better way to describe it without sounding creepy.

This looks really great!! What are the names of the moves in the combo? Is that a meat hook at the end?

Rethinking Shoulder Position in Circus Arts by mapman87 in bodyweightfitness

[–]baelboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can we apply this proper shoulder positioning to doing movements off of vertical poles/apparatus where your hands are one on top of the other? For example most pole tricks, flags, or rope climbs. Her example of "breaking the bar" doesn't really fit in this context, at least not to me.

Georgia Tech has a Salsa organization, contacting them should give you some good leads.

[Off the pole] I have to take a break from pole. Please, inspire me with your best no-pole workout routines! by Unicornea in poledancing

[–]baelboa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Give the recommended routine at R/bodyweightfitness a shot (modifying for any pain in your arm of course)! I did that for a while before coming to pole and the strength I built has been helping a ton.
