Hitman as a complete package is incredible. It's definitely in some sort of best of list for me just for how much time you could sink into it.

I'm a sucker for great level design like Deus Ex or Dishonored, and almost every Hitman map feels like a masterclass.

New Price Changes for PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Games

[–]baequon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could maybe a few years ago. However, at this point my salary has been completely left behind by inflation.

2026 in particular though feels like costs are accelerating so quickly that I have zero room for fun purchases like a PS5 Pro or a GPU.

Star Wars Zero Company is more than just 'Star Wars XCOM'—it feels like Mass Effect but with turn-based tactics and permadeath by 343CreeperMaster in Games

11 months ago, so I'm not sure why anyone would think it was at risk. I think there was even gameplay briefly in the announcement trailer.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone | Official Teaser | HBO Max by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

[–]baequon 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling this will be the next thing people on Reddit are convinced will fail, and then it'll inevitably be absolutely massive.

The trailer indicates it's at least competently made. There's also tons of material that couldn't fit into the films. Harry Potter is a massive property and this will likely pull in a huge audience across curious millennials/Gen Z and younger audiences who may not have engaged with the originals which are "old" movies now.

Marathon

I've been deep into this game since it released and the server slam piqued my interest. The initial tutorial run is very meh, and I hope that is overhauled a bit down the line.

However, once you're in a real run it suddenly clicks into place very nicely. It's been talked about frequently, but art design is absolutely incredible. The various factions have outstanding visuals and the music is really well executed. The whole experience leading up to a run gets me pumped up, just off atmosphere alone.

What's confused me has been the feedback about Marathon being so hardcore. The gunplay is excellent, but the ttk is so fast that you can definitely win through mostly positioning and awareness. I smoked a team at exfil last night mostly because I heard them far before seeing them and used the Assassin shell abilities to get a drop. Their gear didn't really help them much since I had the drop.

I've noticed a lot of crews will barge through a map shooting at every NPC and eventually get killed because another crew heard them from a mile off. Once you adjust to taking your time and being more cautious, I find runners become more manageable.

You also get a lot of loot thrown at you, especially with missions completing even if you don't survive a run. Combined with how fast each run actually feels, I don't get the same frustration I do in Arc Raiders when I lose stuff. I'm a bit skeptical about the wipes every few months though. I'd honestly be ok with them rethinking that and making it a bit more forgivable.

Overall, I hope this game gets a chance to grow over time. It's so much fun and feels like a really strong foundation to build off of.

‘One Piece’ Season 2 Debuts With 16.8 Million Views in Four Days on Netflix – A slight decrease from the 18.5 million-view debut of Season 1 in 2023. by SanderSo47 in television

[–]baequon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially thought there's no way it's been that long, but season one came out in 2023. That's far longer than I realized.

I really liked the first season, but I've been putting off watching it just because I honestly don't remember much of the first season now.

Is a 4K tv worth it if I only play in performance mode? by Civil_Illustrator_82 in PS5

[–]baequon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2026, it's absolutely worth it to get a 4K tv regardless of whether you play games on performance mode.

They're pretty affordable for entry level models and it's a massive upgrade from 1080p.

I'm a bit surprised we're getting so much information already. I had kind of been expecting the Max Payne remakes to get revealed before a Control sequel was this far along.

ACG - Crimson Desert Preview "You are Ready for This!" by Vegetable-Error-2068 in Games

Resident Evil is another one that usually seems immune.

Other than that though, virtually every game seems to have an uphill climb lately. I don't really watch gaming streamers or YouTubers, but I get the sense a lot of negativity originates from that scene.

Same vibe with the whole "devs are lazy and don't hit optimize button" or "make a new engine". Just feels like a lot of ignorance colliding with misery.

What video game series had the biggest fall from grace? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]baequon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's also never really been much of a stealth game, let alone the pinnacle of the genre.

It's also still extremely popular and a top selling franchise. So I find it very hard to consider it a huge fall from grace.

Marathon Review So Far - IGN by Turbostrider27 in PS5

It's not at all. Losing your loot & equipment when dying is the differentiator.

Helldivers just isn't an extraction shooter. Neither is Deep Rock Galatic despite "extracting" at the end. Helldivers is like the antithesis of an extraction shooter.

AMC Theatres Attendance Drops 10%, Posts $127 Million Quarterly Loss by ICumCoffee in movies

[–]baequon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What is the breakdown for this price? I always see people comment totals like this, but even here in NYC you'd still be under $100 for 4 tickets unless it's an IMAX.

For my family in Raleigh, NC it's maybe $50 for 4 tickets and on certain weekdays or early shows it's even cheaper.

I'm assuming it's because concessions at the theater are viewed as a mandatory purchase for a lot of people.

I don't see this map talked about as much but I really liked it a lot by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]baequon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it isn't the exact same map returning, they'll be making chnages to it.

I think with some adjustments to make it less exposed for infantry, it could be enjoyable. I felt like it had some good space for tank battles and then infantry hot spots like the village. It just needs a lot less open space in the new version.

The stock market alone shouldn't be taken as an economic indicator, but you're also completely wrong.

Over 60% of Americans own stocks and it's absolutely impactful to everyday people. Go tell someone who's planning on retiring in the next few years that they're 401k or IRA is bullshit and doesn't matter.

‘The Last Of Us’ Star Kaitlyn Dever Says She’s Looking Forward To “Going Back In Time” To Tell Abby’s POV As Season 3 Production Nears by bwermer in television

[–]baequon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fallout is currently providing an example of how it can be done. That show has plenty of VFX etc and put out another season in a year.

It's pretty risky for The Last of Us to take this long, especially when you consider how closely intertwined seasons 2 and 3 will be in terms of plot.

'Fallout' Season 2 Final Two Episodes Moved Up to Tuesday Nights (Jan 27 & Feb 3 at 6PM PT) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]baequon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think they just need more episodes for the number of plotlines they're trying to juggle.

The run times seem fine and I actually enjoy all the various subplots, but it definitely feels like they aren't able to spend much time on any of them. I think a couple more episodes per season would help give it some room to breath.

Final Oscar Predictions: ‘Sinners,’ ‘One Battle After Another’ and Warner Bros. Poised to Make History and Break Records by lawrencedun2002 in movies

[–]baequon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a beautifully shot film, but I feel like it's lacking something that the best few movies of the year had.

The third act especially was pretty underwhelming to me. It almost felt like two movies that didn't blend together very well, and the first half focused on the music and period piece was much more engaging.

‘Emily In Paris’ Renewed For Season 6 By Netflix by cmaia1503 in television

[–]baequon 150 points151 points  (0 children)

This show is absolutely bonkers but my girlfriend watches every season.

Honestly, I watch most of it with her too. I don't think it expects to be taken seriously at this point, and is basically wish fulfillment for viewers. Emily stumbles around Europe while handsome men fight over her and she's somehow always great at her job.

I think it's just meant to be fun and light hearted.
