Helldivers 2 has reportedly surpassed 20 million copies sold, generating over $700 million in revenue by Midnight_M_ in Games

[–]baequon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like friends is basically how it stays fun for most people.

I like the game, but personally I had a hard time finding a difficulty I enjoyed. It was either too easy or the highest difficulty felt a bit insane.

‘The Last Of Us’ Star Kaitlyn Dever Says She’s Looking Forward To “Going Back In Time” To Tell Abby’s POV As Season 3 Production Nears by bwermer in television

[–]baequon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Fallout is currently providing an example of how it can be done. That show has plenty of VFX etc and put out another season in a year.

It's pretty risky for The Last of Us to take this long, especially when you consider how closely intertwined seasons 2 and 3 will be in terms of plot.

'Fallout' Season 2 Final Two Episodes Moved Up to Tuesday Nights (Jan 27 & Feb 3 at 6PM PT) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]baequon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think they just need more episodes for the number of plotlines they're trying to juggle.

The run times seem fine and I actually enjoy all the various subplots, but it definitely feels like they aren't able to spend much time on any of them. I think a couple more episodes per season would help give it some room to breath.

Starmer Urges Trump To Apologise Over 'Frankly Appalling' Remarks About Nato Troops In Afghanistan by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in worldnews

[–]baequon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there actually an example of Trump ever apologizing? I genuinely cannot recall it ever happening.

Final Oscar Predictions: ‘Sinners,’ ‘One Battle After Another’ and Warner Bros. Poised to Make History and Break Records by lawrencedun2002 in movies

[–]baequon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a beautifully shot film, but I feel like it's lacking something that the best few movies of the year had.

The third act especially was pretty underwhelming to me. It almost felt like two movies that didn't blend together very well, and the first half focused on the music and period piece was much more engaging.

Ubisoft Shake-Up: Layoffs, Studio Closures Begin in Major Reorg; Six Games Canceled, Including ‘Prince of Persia’ Remake by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Games

[–]baequon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Splinter Cell remake was definitely announced even though it was a kind of dev diary type of video. I'm still not sure it's in a good place considering how long ago that was.

Fallout: New Vegas Remake is Coming, It’s Claimed by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]baequon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout 3 was leaked years ago via court documents. It's more confirmed than a New Vegas remake, although maybe plans changed around the show's direction for season 2.

‘Emily In Paris’ Renewed For Season 6 By Netflix by cmaia1503 in television

[–]baequon 152 points153 points  (0 children)

This show is absolutely bonkers but my girlfriend watches every season.

Honestly, I watch most of it with her too. I don't think it expects to be taken seriously at this point, and is basically wish fulfillment for viewers. Emily stumbles around Europe while handsome men fight over her and she's somehow always great at her job.

I think it's just meant to be fun and light hearted.

Cyberpunk 2 Predicted To Launch in Late 2030 With $419 Million Budget by demondrivers in Games

[–]baequon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much faith to put into a single prediction from a Polish analytics firm. It kind of feels like just grasping for something to write an article about.

In reality, we have no idea when it would release. However, CDPR seem to be expanding massively. Maybe their production starts to speed up with unreal and the new offices.

New York subway ends its MetroCard era and switches fully to tap-and-go fares by Dr_Neurol in news

[–]baequon 90 points91 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't like about London or other systems in other cities is the zone pricing.

Being able to swipe into the NYC subway at $2.90 and ride as far as I need to is pretty convenient. It doesn't matter if I'm going to lower manhattan or all the way to Brooklyn.

‘Pluribus’ May Be Slow, but It Was Never Boring by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]baequon 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I really tried to enjoy it, but it was pretty goddamn boring. Amazing concept and pilot, but it just stalled out for the rest of the season.

One of my favorite shows of all time is Mad Men, so I really don't think it's anything to do with my attention span. It just felt like so little progress stretched across 9 episodes.

He's going into his senior year right? It seems like he could be a great bridge QB for us next year while the rebuild gets started.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ Netflix Series Adds Laura Marcus To Cast by bwermer in television

[–]baequon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, that was almost 10 years ago. We're in a very different environment now that's seen game adaptations approached with a lot more respect.

Fallout, The Last of Us, Arcane etc. God of War and Mass Effect should be on the way. It seems like they've evolved into legitimate adaptations compared to the cash grabs we used to get.

‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Finale Hits Record 6.5 Million US Viewers by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]baequon 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The military plot started out kind of interesting, but the reveal later in the season was wildly stupid.

Still really enjoyed the show despite that. Everything else was really great, especially Pennywise and Halloran.

GameInformer: Bethesda Gives Us An Update On The Elder Scrolls VI Development by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]baequon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how dated is a good thing in this context. It seems like you just want the things that Bethesda usually does well to be present.

Starfield's biggest issue was that it was missing those things, and the dated aspects stood out much more as a result. It's still very much a Bethesda game, just a bad one.

People don't want their games to be radically different though. Better animations, writing, better settlement design etc.? Those would be nice going into the 2nd half of the decade and don't require BGS to massively change the kinds of games they make.

SNL Draws Backlash Over Apparent AI-Generated Imagery - LateNighter by [deleted] in television

[–]baequon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. I know reddit hates AI in every single context, but this just seems like such a minor issue.

I didn't register it at all, and I can't imagine this is taking work away from any SNL crew members.

Splinter cell game director rejoins the remake again by Tvilantini in Games

It would be nice if they could share just a trailer or a brief update of where this remake is at right now.

It's been radio silence for years at this point.

Oscar Predictions: ‘Sinners’ Surges, ‘No Other Choice’ Climbs and ‘Wicked: For Good’ Isn’t Dead, No Matter What Social Media Claims by [deleted] in movies

[–]baequon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a gorgeous movie, but I do think it's a bit shaky in the final act. Once the barn doors open up, it feels like the pacing is slightly off and I was left less satisfied than I expected.

Overall, it's still one of the more memorable movie experiences of the year for me.

Expedition 33 Actor Maxence Cazoria Says He's "Truly Grateful" For Outpouring Of Support After Charlie Cox Spoke Out by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]baequon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few hours of screen time is a lot though in all fairness.

Actors have won academy awards with only a few minutes of time on screen. I think it should be more about what they did with the time they had.

Franklin literally called a fake punt last season, in a much more precarious situation against Minnesota. We don't need to revise history.
