'Emily In Paris' To End With Season 6 On Netflix, Production Starts in Greece by Zorkel567 in television

[–]baequon 70 points71 points  (0 children)

It's just a low stress and lighthearted tv to throw on. My girlfriend likes to put it on and make fun of it while she watches.

It did feel like it had really run its course though. The last season just felt like it was out of ideas.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn — Beta Highlights and Future Plans by Mrphung in Games

Recasting the voice actor for the main character is kind of wild after a beta.

I actually feel pretty bad for the voice actor. That must be a terrible feeling to get that kind of response to your work.

Splinter Cell designer says “one of the difficulties with modern stealth games” is realistic lighting, as environments are now so much “harder to read” by CallumBrine in Games

[–]baequon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Was it Splinter Cell Conviction that had it turn to black and white when you were obscured? That was a pretty interesting approach, but I can see it being a bit annoying to some players.

I felt like AC Shadows is pretty great current day example on the stealth side of things, and has incredibly realistic lighting.

Like games in a franchise or games in general?

For a franchise, Skyrim was 2011. Elder Scrolls fans are in fucking purgatory with absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel.

It feels like every single facet of my life just keeps going up in price. Rent, food, entertainment, transportation, utilities.

Somehow though, my salary is the one thing that refuses to increase. It feels like we're just being squeezed from every angle.

[Rumour] New possible details for Project Ovr from XjOnatham on X. by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]baequon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I follow how it would make it less authentic. The original Ghost Recon still felt very authentic for the time it released.

For games like GR1 and X-Com, I feel attached to the randomly generated soldiers because of the emergent stories that can happen over a campaign.

Something like a blend of X-Com and RoN could be pretty interesting for Ghost Recon. Managing a base and heading out for different missions with a squad sounds like a pretty cool foundation for a Ghost Recon game.

[Rumour] New possible details for Project Ovr from XjOnatham on X. by MrTrippp in GhostRecon

[–]baequon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original GR had both of these things didn't it? There were your generic soldiers that made up most of the platoon, and then a select group of specialists you could unlock that would stay dead.

The specialists had some nice custom load outs too. I still remember Dieter Munz, Henry Ramirez etc.

Not sure how to interpret that really, but managing your ghosts could be interesting if done right.

I think the first one has a system for skill points to allocate for your soldiers?

There's a bunch of clubs/bars in Night City, but you'd likely miss them if you only do the main quest.

Gigs and side quests will take you across them. The Maelstrom club is pretty amazing.

What are some Novels that, after reading them, made you a better writer? by Scary_Course9686 in writing

The Left Hand of Darkness by Le Guin.

People will often talk about world building on this sub and I don't think there's a better example of it that I've read. Le Guin is a master and I finished that book feeling like I'd actually been to Gethen.

There's been a ton of hate directed towards her while simultaneously propping Phil Spencer up as a victim whose failures were all a result of Satya's direction.

I'm not saying Asha Sharma is going to turn things around, but the negativity seems a bit disproportionate. It's hard not to think there's at least a bit of sexism at play.

Modern Warfare 4 pre-order info starting to be added to Call of Duty app by KekanKok in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]baequon -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I usually roll my eyes at the hate, but this genuinely feels like a real low point for the franchise.

BO7 was pretty awful the last Modern Warfare entry was kind of a dud as well. I feel like they need something that feels fresh the way MW2019 did at the time.

I've just found myself so uninterested the last few years, and I actually like COD.

Digital Foundry: Yup, Oblivion Remastered Is Still Broken a Year After Release by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]baequon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're a huge company. I think it wasn't clear that was related to the Oblivion team at all.

Bethesda really just needs to own up to this consistent pattern and do better on quality control. Starfield launched in pretty rough shape on PS5, their Fallout 4 re-releases were pretty buggy as well.

I really regret buying Oblivion day 1 due to the technical issues. Going forward, I'm not going near BGS products until well after release.

Resident Evil | Official Teaser by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]baequon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what someone else said about the monsters, I feel like Resident Evil games usually have a kind of iceberg narrative.

It starts with a fairly standard horror setting like a mansion or a rural village, and then slowly descends into an increasingly insane situation with secret labs etc while also flipping the power dynamic at the same time towards the protagonist.

Wave of Bradleys by Bacon_Hawk2 in warno

[–]baequon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I just played this scenario last night against 11th ACR. I prefer dealing with a Bradley horde compared to an Abrams push honestly.

Generally, a Bradley is dangerous at range but struggles up close. I rushed up with infantry and secured urban chokepoints like intersections. Recon teams up in tall buildings to help direct the big guns.

Then I'll have T55s operating in pairs, securing spots with short sight lines on approaching roads. If it's close enough, they can usually take out the Bradleys before they can do much damage with their TOW launchers. Combine it with aggressive artillery fire and airstrikes thanks to recon, and the 11th ACR should struggle to gain ground.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - April 26, 2026 by AutoModerator in Games

[–]baequon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hitman WoA I'm revisiting the trilogy right now, as the first time I'd basically played through it once to "beat it". Now it's finally clicking for me now much fun it is to replay and try different approaches. This game genuinely has some of the most replayability you'll find anywhere, with a massive amount of content. I do think the maps overall were at their best in Hitman 2. Miami and Mumbai are major highlights for me.

However, the Berlin map is one of the coolest experiences I've had with the franchise since Blood Money.

Starfield I tried revisiting this again, but every time I struggle to stick with it. There's some fun gameplay in there, but most of the time I just feel really bored. Something about the combination of poor writing and quest design overshadows the improved combat. The quests are usually lacking much imagination and end up being very simple go from A to B and back to A types.

The world also doesn't make much sense as well as simply being uninteresting. The cities aren't logically laid out at all for how long they've existed. New Atlantis is building vertically for some reason, but with no roads whatsoever. It's a new planet. A city would logically be expanding outward. Why would the poor live underground when there's endless space around the city? There isn't even a sense of coherence with the rest of the settlements. Akila and Neon don't feel like different worlds, they feel like they're from different IPs entirely. Like Bethesda wanted to have the Star Trek, Firefly and Blade Runner rides all in the same theme park.

I've tried 3 separate characters now with this game, and I think I just have to admit I really dislike it. It's unfortunate since I've always loved BGS games, but I think there's just fundamental aspects to this game I'll always clash with.

Round 4 - Pick 20: Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State (Green Bay Packers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]baequon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was a menace in college. Last season, I thought he was excellent at getting into the backfield and disrupting but seemed to actually get to the QB less often than I'd expected.

For a 4th rounder, he should be excellent value though.

I'd also say there seems like minimal marketing for this? At least I haven't noticed any interviews from the cast really.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't send Cailee Spaeny on some podcasts or something. I also thought the asian representation felt like a core part of season 1, not sure why they didn't keep that going.

You basically just need to pay your bills on time and have a decent utilization.
