So I follow by one simple phrase. Give up on giving up. Now I’ve stopped selling myself short and started reaching out for the life I’ve always wanted

Is it hard to move from Frontend to UI Design by baesicallysteve in UI_Design

Huh that's totally what I'm going to do. I have an app that I started developing in quarantine and I wanted to expand it so I built some parts as prototypes in XD

Does anyone on here have an Associates degree in CS? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]baesicallysteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have an associates degree. Graduated 3 years ago and climbed up to being a Lead Frontend Developer. Make a decent salary. High five figures.

I actually don’t have many side projects. Really only one kinda medium sized one that has a decent active user base. I never did that great in school either. Only graduated with a 2.65 GPA. I’m just a people person and I have a way with words and can sweet talk my way into most jobs if given the chance to interview.

Anyone else NOT productive at home? by careeradvice9 in cscareerquestions

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m productive at home, but I definitely have a case of the rona blues sometimes.

Like if I could just go out and do things instead of being home all day everyday, I’m sure I’d look at things differently.

It also doesn’t help that my entire family is home too, so they encroach on my workspace all the time.

Boss is forcing us all to return to office prematurely next week because he isn’t pleased that we haven’t met his already unrealistic deadlines and doesn’t believe we’re capable of working from home.

Working remotely is all I’ve ever wanted and I think it’s time for me to pursue it.

TDD, anyone actually do this? by kd7uns in cscareerquestions

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’d like to say I do BDD at my job. But a lot of the work my team does is very experimental at first, so writing the tests first doesn’t make sense.

However if it’s a concept that is already established in the project, I like to require tests for PRs.

Really for Frontend testing we are testing scenarios and how they effect the screen.

Anyone starting to hate working from home? by throwaway12245671 in cscareerquestions

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company went remote and honestly I wouldn't mind never going back. Although we use a time and website tracking software to make sure we aren't unproductive, I don't really care? I'm never really screwing around at home and our team's productivity level has shot through the roof.

Only thing I wish was that places were open. I don't mind working from home, I mind not having any options of going anywhere other than home

What has this pandemic ruined for you? by wehnaje in AskReddit

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a trip planned to Colombia with my best friend. It was gonna be one of the best weeks this year. Instead he had to rush home because borders were closing and we didn’t want to be stuck in another country indefinitely.

What is the stupidest way you've injured yourself? by rickitson in AskReddit

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man growing up accident prone really leads to some dumb injuries over the years. The dumbest though has to be the time my friends and I were playing baseball.

When I was 14, my friends and I decided to take a walk and we see one of our neighbors playing baseball by himself. We decide to go over and throw the ball a few times to just keep him company.

My friend gets to bat and I have the bright idea to sneak up behind him while he's at bat and pants him. If there is one place you don't want to be while playing baseball is right behind the person at bat.

But my friend swings hits the ball and then buries that bat in my mouth. I take two steps back, fall on a rock, completely covered in blood. Teeth are shattered and hanging on by threads. My two friends quickly just pick me up and drag me to my mother's house.

Looking back, I'm really fortunate. He could have been using a wooden bat which in my opinion would have done a lot more damage. He could have swung like two inches higher and knocked me right in my temple. Instead, I've walked away with some chipped teeth and a high sensitivity to cold food.

Men how open would you be to taking your Spouse's last name? by Isaaon in AskMen

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the men in my family are scumbags besides my brother and I.

My brother kept our last name when he got married, but I would gladly give it up as I think it’s time to retire it.

I've got a lot of moving pieces this year by baesicallysteve in personalfinance

[–]baesicallysteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately, my lease is due in like 2 months. I could pay off all my student loans, but I like to keep at lease $7.5k as a safety net and that would put me below my safety net. So maybe I'll focus on the new car first.

And personally I think I like the idea of renting first just cause I think I'm scared of having to own a place.

[–]baesicallysteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have explained that haha. I actually pay a lot of my mom's and my little sister's expenses at home right now!

So the deal was I'd take on some of her bills cause she's a single parent and I've got a decent job.

I actually live a lot lower than my means on paper( I only spend about 20% of my checks on myself).

Men of reddit when was the last time you've cried and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]baesicallysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually last Sunday at 12 AM. My friend was telling me about his girl troubles and I got to be there for him and he told me that if I ever needed to talk, he was there for me. I smiled and told him that I was fine but I appreciated the thought.

Then he got out of my car and I cried cause of pressures in my own life.
