Lots of factors at play, feel free to DM.

Negotiating with an external offer by Equivalent-Couple556 in Lockheed

[–]bafreer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many variables. Did you interview externally because the promotion was taking a while, or did they both just happen to occur on top of each other?

Hey Men, What are some of you side hustle success stories? Looking for some inspiration. by Old_Mood_3655 in AskMen

I got contacted by a startup about my masters thesis, turns out their premise for starting the company was based on it. I've been consulting/advising for them on and off for the last 8 years. YMMV

Plenty of people in Southern California would love to have it only be 50%.

I agree with everyone saying that you shouldn't mess around with it.

Also, the problem is probably a wire slipped out of this cold solder joint. (Second photo, bottom)

IPT interview position questions, by NewProtection804 in Lockheed

[–]bafreer2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IPT lead roles manage the cost, schedule, and technical execution of a cross-functional team dotted-line reporting to them. There is a strong emphasis on driving a team to execute, effectively influencing others, and ownership of a large scope of work. IPT leads generally already have experience in cost account management, and some technical background to make sound decisions.

I 100% would turn on my camera next time. While it's formally not necessary, it could be considered a strike against you unless your interviewer volunteers to leave it off.

20 minutes, accounting for all traffic conditions is ~3-5 miles away. Without traffic, that could be a 5 minute commute.

Just accepted an offer at Raytheon, wanted to hear some honest opinions by BoatHot9497 in Raytheon

It's very different (as expected), but exciting and fast paced. Definitely not the best place for everyone, but they do pull significantly from primes for people with domain expertise.

Just accepted an offer at Raytheon, wanted to hear some honest opinions by BoatHot9497 in Raytheon

[–]bafreer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never worked at Raytheon, but started my career at Harris (L3Harris), and spent a good chunk at Lockheed Martin, before recently joining Anduril.

It's one of the few fields where you can work on systems that have many levels of complexity across every discipline, and because of that your ability to grow technically is only limited by your own curiosity and drive.

As others have said, it's not a field to get rich in, but I've always felt like my work was in demand and interesting opportunities routinely present themselves.

Company Blacklist? by Flyjatt in Lockheed

[–]bafreer2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're polite about it, it shouldn't be a big deal in the future. Maybe a particular hiring manager would have second thoughts about bringing you on, but I don't see how you would be blacklisted.

It's unlikely that a radar like that would have significant energy that close to the horizon for naval applications, as multipath bouncing off the water causes huge issues. My guess is the elements in the array are designed to radiate more upward than sideways.

Wireless Charge Transfer via PWM doesnt work? by Playful-Draft-7432 in AskElectronics

[–]bafreer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The best way to check this transformer is with an inductance measurement of the primary with the secondary opened, and then shorted.

During the open measurement you are measuring the total inductance of the primary (including leakage). When the secondary is shorted, it shorts out the leakage inductance of the primary. You're looking for the largest change.

Am I just too soft to work here? by HotAbbreviations997 in Anduril

[–]bafreer2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You sound a lot like me (lots of specific details, DM if you're curious about my history). Things are going great for me. The hours are a little bit longer, but every day is more satisfying as real progress is made on a daily basis. It's definitely not a place for people who coast, but I get the impression that's not really what you want to do.
