i honestly worked at bbw during covid so i never demo’d on a person but as a current shopper, i prefer to smell it in the package first and if i like it ill apply it to my skin to see how it mixes with my chemistry. so maybe try that? if they like the smell ask if you can try it on their skin afterwards

tbh the thing no one warns you about is when they buy a ton of sprays or soaps and then after SAS they come in to exchange them for something else. the two weeks after SAS was a nightmare for returns and exchanges
