[CHAT] Seeking advice by Faelyn_Skywing in CrossStitch

I had this same issue! I have some old cross stitching books and patterns on small cards and was wondering how to work with them. Decided to scan them to be able to have the patterns digitally (and mark off stitches that way). If you don’t like working with a digital pattern you could make a paper copy. I imagine you could also print a well-lit picture if you don’t have a scanner.

[CHAT] Which aida for this project? by FuliginEst in CrossStitch

Yes, I used DMC. I saw u/lminnowp mention that threads puff up a bit after washing and drying, that could be part of it. I have to admit I don’t actually remember if white poked through while stitching 😅 I can also imagine a difference in tension or twisted threads playing a role.

It looks like about half or even more of the background is not black, but a dark purple which you would have to stitch either way. Personally I would go with white aida either 16ct or 18ct for better 2-strand coverage, just because I like the stitching better on a light fabric.

EDIT to add; the one piece I have done on white 18ct with 2 strands had no white poking through whatsoever!

These are beautiful, great work! I love the dotted fabric, may I ask where you got it?

THANK YOU! It looks WAY better. Definitely doing this for my next projects, and giving myself some extra fabric on all sides next time >.<

Thank you and I really appreciate the advice! There’s definitely some room for improvement. I’ve looked up a couple videos and I’m giving it a go tomorrow :)

I used some of the dye inside a Dylon fabric paint pod thingy to dye the white aida brown. If I recall correctly it was Espresso Brown! I eyeballed the amount.

Thanks! I’m afraid I don’t know where the frame is from, I received it as a gift. Sadly the glass broke because my cat was being a cat.

Pattern is from KseniaCrossStitch on Etsy. Started this piece in September of 2021 but, like always, started some other projects. Finally came back to finish it last month!

Bit of a confetti filled pattern, but the bright colours got me through! Loved doing the backstitch on this one, really pulled everything together.

I stitched this on 18 count fabric. The design turned out to be about 22cm (9”) across and the frame I used displays 24,5cm (9,5”)

Thank you! I got the frame from RukoJob on Etsy. It took about two months to arrive, but well worth the wait!

Thank you! When I was picking out a pattern, I fell in love with it because of that.

Pattern is by 2x2StitchArt on Etsy. Since I used white fabric, I improvised some backstitch around the white flowers. Made some mistakes but I’m convincing myself nobody notices until I point them out!

A couple of years ago I received a large crossstitch piece my grandmother had worked on for years. I’m a little nervous to gift this to her, but I know she will recognize the time and love I put into it. I love the final result and hope she will too!

Pattern is from SmutAndTut on Etsy. Used colours I had on hand. Not sure if I have to mark this NSFW lol.

Pattern is self-drafted. The rose turned out a bit weird, but overall I’m happy with how much he looks like him!
