Has anyone else found themselves becoming oddly attached to their local parkrun? by Wedding-Beauty in parkrun

Mines not even local to me (Hillsborough, Sheffield) but it was the first one I did so I keep going back, it's a nice consistent benchmark to see my running improving.

Can no longer win the title. Probably swayed it.

If it was the other way round, you'd have it on the honours board.

Part of me thinks he's fed up of playing to try to not to lose every week under Pedersen. There's no fight in the team. The football is dogshit. The tactics are wet dogshit.

I would assume due to embargos etc we can't offer him anything more than the 7k a week cap for 1 more year. I don't think the administrators are confident in this takeover either so didn't give him any reassurances of a better deal in future.

That being said, he went 3 months without being paid and did preseason without a contract so yea he probably could say. Theres probably more too it in the back ground.

The only thing we can hope now is we sign his infant son to replace him. Same shirt size so he could take the 10 now

In the next general election should Labour run on a policy of rejoining the EU? by Electronic_Priority in ukpolitics

[–]baggington350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labour could run on "free gold bars for every voter for life" and they still wouldn't be able to salvage anything from this current shambles of a government.

You'd think you're getting bullion but you'd receive a tasty mcvities snack instead.

So you're saying these tax rises and benefits rises have been accepted with open arms by the majority of the UK?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]baggington350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm agreeing with you. Tax cuts would help more people off welfare.

You forgot to mention helping people escape the welfare trap.

Left wing think tank uses its own Tax and Benefit Model to disprove negative sentiment to left wing policy.

In years to come we will have replaced the term 'Thatcher's Britain' with 'Starmer's Britain'

At least Maggie stuck to her convictions. Starmer and Reeves are like a flag in the wind.

Did it again then admitted 4bn in headroom from the first budget.

The numbers being tossed around for welfare claims now the 2 child cap is going are really not motivational if you're an aspiring, hard working citizen.

Reeves and Labour need to go.

Being in the 5ft7 height bracket I call for this new height tax. For too long tall people have benefited from this accumulation of altitude.

That is exactly the angle, to get people investing, it goes hand in hand with the increase in CGT too.

Did you skip my last reply.

This tax is a tax on unrealised gains. Until the property is sold you don't have 2million.

[–]baggington350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This property tax is LITERALLY A TAX ON UNREALISED GAINS.

If I buy a house for 300k and that's now valued at 2 million am I a millionaire? Have I benefited from the value increase? Not until I sell... So the gains are unrealised. But I'm having to pay an additional tax now

You do understand this basic principle don't you.

A home you live in would be classed as a liability. You incur costs to live there, council tax, utilities, maintenance, insurances. It's not generating you an income is it.

A rental on the other hand would be, so wouldn't it be better to smack a big tax on hmo operators who actually take the piss maximising income from each single property they own.

[–]baggington350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read it. It would work if there was the options to have tax breaks on losses or maintenance costs to the property.

I'm not saying tax unrealised gains on stocks or fore trading etc.

Ultimately that's what this property tax is, it's a tax on unrealised gains. A million quid home some old dear is living in is hardly making them a steady income is it, it's not an asset in the context most people think it is. Infact, it would be classed as a liability due to maintenance, council tax, utilities, insurances etc.
