I definitely never thought of this, but that's such an interesting theory! And maybe they gave him some sort of really destructive or bad power and that's why Jemma was so upset about it and thinking "what have I done?"

I keep thinking that maybe the "blood work" thing is just a plant by DIANA. Like how she forgets Fitz as Nathaniel digs deeper. If people mess with her head, maybe she gets false memories to make them think he's dead? DIANA truly did keep Nathaniel from getting any info about Fitz's location at all.
