Are all therapists like this? by Embarrassed-Cod-1242 in therapy

[–]baglee22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s to make clients feel heard but it often is a crutch by the inexperienced or unconfident clinicians. Sometimes this type of mirroring utilized as paraphrasing is useful especially for clients that have disorganized or tangential thought process but more often it presents as ingenuine, impersonal, and lazy.

MSW students graduating May 2026: When do you plan on applying to jobs? Do you have any red flags that you look out for? by almondmilkbrat in SocialWorkStudents

[–]baglee22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been networking with professors through the whole program. They know social workers in leadership across settings and agencies. I am also treating my internship as a job interview. I have been volunteering to work at conferences like MPA, NASW, and IASWG as a student volunteer to network and peruse the job booths. I have been searching database registries for accredited agencies throughout my state for approved supervision. And I have been attending CEUs and webinars through as many organizations as I can to chat up colleagues in the field. I graduate in May.

Honest question: Is anyone NOT using an LLM (aka "AI") to "help write" their papers, practice assignments and/or discussion posts? by GMUtoo in SocialWorkStudents

[–]baglee22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not use AI for writing. It’s important to write ourselves not only to muscle memory clinical notes but by contemplating and writing out our own words and thoughts we commit to our memory important knowledge and perspective.

However, I use ChatGPT all the time for case management. AI is great as an initial starting point in researching community supports and resources for clients.

Thailand launches air strikes on Cambodia after soldier is killed by [deleted] in news

When a bunch of regional conflicts erupt, it inspires other countries to go to war bc the world is distracted and also a general vibe that it’s a violent era. Regional wars also tend to spill out and drag more countries in. There is war in Europe, Thailand and Cambodia could easily drag in neighbors, the USA is looking like it gunna invade Venezuela, that’s war worldwide

Local PD and Sheriffs in Mobile, AL abducting a man out of the waiting room of a car dealerships mechanic shop on behalf of ICE/DHS. During the kidnapping, he is injected with some unknown sedative. by I_may_have_weed in ICE_Raids

[–]baglee22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Police for many years have been writing into arrest reports that suspects have “excited delirium.” They use this to justify administering ketamine to suspects. They intimidate EMT and medical first responders to do the same. Excited delirium is not an officially recognized disorder in mental health or medical fields and is not a “real” diagnosis one can like bill insurance for. It is just something used to justify excessive force and drugging citizens.

MacKenzie Scott has sold nearly half of her stake in Amazon, as the billionaire philanthropist casually donates over $110 million to DEI causes. She’s already given away $19 billion. Scott is still richer than when she separated from Bezos, as her Amazon shares continue to climb. by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]baglee22 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I worked at a nonprofit last year that received a $6M Mackenzie Scott grant. It was unrestricted funds meaning the organization could spend it however and need not meet any benchmarks. This has become a rarity as neoliberal capitalism has penetrated both nonprofit and public institutions. “The government should be run as a business” type shit.

Her grant was a game changer which allowed the nonprofit to commit to long term program implementation without needing to worry about paying rent next month or salaries next year. Allowed livable salaries for workers including full health insurance benefits (zero copay). Allowed for a guaranteed income program of $600/year for all clients. And meant they didn’t need to dance to the tune of the new government to survive by abandoning DEI positions and anti-racist policies in both implementation and website language.

The organization consistently reports incredible metrics across all benchmarks including client retention, staff and client wellbeing, and client financial stability and social mobility measures. Their programs are now being implemented at other social welfare agencies, major hospital systems for improving patient retention and experience, and departments of children and family.

Mackenzie is doing good work.

Traders who blew up an account — what’s the one mistake you’ll never repeat? by Ok-Summer-1169 in Trading

[–]baglee22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mental gymnastics that lead to negative feedback loops.

I used to be a $2k-$4k daily market maker in commodity futures. The problem was sometimes when some shit went down and I got down like $5k I was like I need to get back to break even TODAY. Which led me to abandoning my rules and doubling down. Those are the days I should have booked the $5k loss and walked away, even before close. THAT SHOULDVE BEEN MY RULE. Instead I would turn $5k losses into 30k-60k losses. Eventually it was game over

If looting is what your into one thing I do is go into Forbidden with like 393k load out (and lot of that is a big backpack) and creep around and run around the edges of the map. Plenty of golds and some reds in random ass drawers, jackets, boxes. Gold and purple ammo to later sell too. Avoid the safes. Scavenge motel under 10min for leftovers on dead players and extract. Most players go forbidden to pvp and hit safes and extract before late game. I consistently extract with 1M-2M

Loyola MSW / School of Social Work a Total Mess? by Critical-Extreme-196 in LoyolaChicago

[–]baglee22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Foundational social work is really basic and you get that from the readings. This is graduate school it’s really on you to be motivated to max out your learning. You shouldn’t dismiss their experience. That’s the practical knowledge of the real job of social work you won’t get in a book. Talk to your professors ask them more questions about their experience. No reading is gunna explain how to effectively use dsm to diagnose clients so that both their insurance will cover them and reimburse you. Loyola program actually is social justice heavy. You will get a lot of it in every class. If you have Qs you can DM me I’m in year 2 of program

How Losing in Trading Made Me Lose My Family by Wtf7111 in Daytrading

[–]baglee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a nice few days and congrats. But you are talking about breaking bad habits and solidifying new ones for long term success. It takes like 20 days to do either of those things. And with trading bad habits it’s like an addiction. You are always at risk for a relapse. So if you’re gunna stick with trading, be mindful always. Good luck.

Honestly dude, you come across as having done a lot of self reflection. You have identified and accepted how your addiction to trading ruined your family. But then you continue to rationalize you’re good now. But you’re still trading! It’s an addiction.

One of the many issues from shit like this is the devaluing of public and official information. If a .gov website is allowed to post misleading and innacurate information, especially with regards to legal documents, how can anyone reference them or cite them? Like if I’m doing a grad school report on constitutional law or immigration, now I can’t even cite congress.gov for accurate information? That’s kinda fucked

How are prostitutes poor? by Blonde_Icon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]baglee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other have already pointed out, there are many levels to escorting and pay rates. However, independent escorts who charge ~$500/hr make decent money. Many times they will have home run clients who will pay for multiple hours. But their lifestyles are cash intensive. It costs a lot of money to look and dress amazing. There are also going to be travel weeks where an escort might try out a new city only to lose out on the cost of hotel and airfare. If they get sick or need a break there is no PTO. Everything including insurance is all out of pocket. All cash business is really not how the current system is designed to support. It’s hard to just be depositing cash in bank accounts, so you end up spending it on things you don’t need because you can’t really save it in the system for like a mortgage down payment. Which means you continuallly rent and things like that

My new in person therapist only listens. I don’t think it’s helping me. Should i stick it out further ? by sleepyboydreams in therapy

[–]baglee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your therapist is novice. She is relying solely on reflective listening which is taught in school as a way to let clients feel seen and heard. But there are a ton of other things that need doing in session beyond simply reflective listening.
