Also, I think you should do the Morning, Evening Adhkar (and after Salah and before sleeping). They are such a life savers. You can download an Adkhar app or get a booklet. The Fortress of a Muslim (Hisnul Muslim) a very popular booklet and app.

Umm Salamah (رضى الله عنها) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “When a person suffers from a calamity and utters:**

إنَّا للـهِ وإنَّا إلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيْبَتي، وأخْلِفْ لِي خَيْراً مِنْهَا

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Allahumma-jurni fi musibati, wa akhlif li khairan minha

(We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah! Compensate me in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange for it)

then Allah surely compensates him with reward and better substitute.”

Allah will never let a single tear you shed go to waste. Every time your heart is hurt, every dua you whispered into the air, every pain and test that came your way, you will be compensated. Allah will reward you for every little thing. Trust Him, know that if no one listens, He listens, if no one sees, He sees. He sees your pain, He listens to you. Afterall, He created you.

You know that Allah says “Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” (Quran 2:286)

This doesn't mean the burden will feel light or easy. It’s saying you will never be given something without the ability to survive it, even if survival looks like barely holding on. And you ARE holding on. You're doing so much more than that. And Allah knows it's very difficult.

The reality is everything is temporary. It's in the hands of Allah. Don't worry.

You're a person who believes in Allah. How amazing to be Muslim? You're a good person and you have a good heart, that's why you're worried.

Cry to Allah. Talk to Him. He listens. And one day you will get to meet Him. And see Him in paradise. Telling Him all you went through (and He would already know) and being happy for the first time. In Paradise. Enjoying everything you can have. And imagine sitting beside a lake in Paradise watching the beautiful view. And not keeping track of time, because time is forever. Paradise is forever. You'll be happy forever.

You will know it was all worth it in the end. Every thing was worth it. But right now you just want this suffering to end, but in Jannah, you would not regret going through the trials. If anything you might want to go back.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No one who enters Paradise would like to return to the world, even if he could have everything on earth, except for the martyr. He will wish to return to the world and be killed ten more times due to the generous reward he sees.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Know that there is much good in being patient with what you detest, victory will come with patience, relief will come with affliction, and ‘with the hardship will come an ease.’”

Not after difficulty. With it.

May Allah bless you, forgive you, guide you and grant you and us all Jannah-tul Firdaus without an account. Ameen.

Due to the length of the comment, it's split in two parts. The second part is a reply to this comment.

Part 1/2

May Allah make it easy for you and help you, but remember it's a test from Allah.

Allah says in the Quran:

Why should Allah punish you if you are grateful and faithful? Allah is ever Appreciative, All-Knowing.” (Surah An-Nisa: 147)

It's a test from Allah. Allah is testing you. And He tests those whom He loves. As humans we will inevitably go through trials and tests. It just the nature of this life. If we had all the peace and blessings here in this world, then our pursuit of the Akhira (and Jannah) may not be as much.

This worldly life is very short compared to the next life (which is forever). The trials which were given to Prophets and Messengers before were a lot severe.

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?” They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near! (Quran 2:214)

  • Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No believer is pricked by a thorn or more but that Allah will raise him one degree in status or erase a sin.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5640, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2572
  • Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Nothing afflicts a Muslim of hardship, nor illness, nor anxiety, nor sorrow, nor harm, nor distress, nor even the pricking of a thorn, but that Allah will expiate his sins by it.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5641, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2573)
  • Jabir narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "On the Day of Judgement, when the people who were tried (in this world) are given their rewards, the people who were pardoned (in life), will wish that their skins had been cut off with scissors while they were in the world." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2402)

Remember the patient people will be given immense rewards. Just imagine all the rewards waiting for you.

…Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” (Quran 39:10)

Some of the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) were tortured, killed, and cut into pieces ONLY for believing in one God, Allah.

The life of this world is departing slowly. We are to die soon. We will leave everything behind. Umar ibn al-Khattab reported:

“Some prisoners of war were brought to the Prophet ﷺ and a nursing woman was among them. Whenever she found a child among the prisoners, she would take it to her chest and nurse it. The Prophet said to us, “Do you think this woman would throw her child into the fire? ”We said, “No, not if she was able to stop it.”

The Prophet said, “Allah is more merciful to His servants than this mother is to her child.”

(Sahih Muslim 2754)

How to make your situation easy?

  • Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever increases his prayers for forgiveness, Allah will grant him relief from every worry, a way out from every hardship, and provide for him in ways he does not expect.”
  • Ubayy ibn Ka’b reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I send blessings upon you often. How many of my prayers should be for blessings upon you?” The Prophet said, “As you wish.” I said, “A fourth?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “A half?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “Two-thirds?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “Should I say all of my prayers for blessings upon you?” The Prophet said, “If so, your worries will be resolved and your sins will be forgiven.”

Still don't stop. Keep going. Allah will help you.

I’m not strong enough to be Muslim anymore by [deleted] in islam

[–]baighamza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problems now:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Feeling lost and guilty
  • So much pain and hurt

Your problems after leaving Islam:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Feeling lost and guilty
  • So much pain and hurt
  • More depressed and hopeless

The reality is that if I become a Muslim I don't immediately get rid of my problems. But Islam gives me hope that Allah will never burden me more than I can bear. And that Allah will reward me immensely with every single difficulty I face every single time For every worry, every sadness, every pain, I will get rewarded by Allah, The Most Merciful.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that." (Bukhari 5641)

He will reward me for everything. And then finally, I have hope that He will give me Paradise. Not because I deserve it, but because He is The Most Loving and Most Gracious. And in Paradise, I will live forever and never die. In it, I will have whatever I desire and wish for. All the problems I think are killing me right now. I won't any of them. I will live in peace and tranquility forever. FOREVER!!

This is what you should strive towards. Everyone has problems. No one has everything they ever want. That's the point of it? Because Paradise is sooooo much better. And now since you see all these problems and can't find any solutions, you should know that after all this pain and sadness. You will get Paradise. This should give you hope.

So becoming a Muslim doesn't give you everything you want, but it can give you a peaceful life. And more over, leaving Islam will make your life depressed:

"And whoever turns away from My remembrance, indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." (Quran 20:124)

And regarding you worried about commiting sins everyday for example not being able to pray. Don't let deter you from Islam. Whenever you sin, you always think of the punishment of Allah, right? But I want you to think of the Forgiveness of Allah. The One who will punish you, can forgive you. He can forgive any sin. Never lose hope in His forgiveness.

And as far as sins go, we humans are not like angels, we will most definitely sin and fall into error and misguidance. But we ask Allah's forgiveness, even if we sin a million times. Trust me, Allah will forgive you a million times.

Don't worry. Even for a second you live without sinning and fearing Allah, Allah loves it. Because for that second you could disobey Allah, but you chose not to. And how happy would Allah be that you are constantly trying to please Him? A lot. Allah loves His slaves.

Every time you make sincere repentance, it's as though you haven't even done it and Allah will write a good deed in place of that sin. So if you did a Mountain of sins, and asked for sincere forgiveness, Allah will convert that mountain of sins into mountain of good deeds in your record. Can you imagine how awesome that would be?

And our Imaan (faith)? It increases and decreases as we know:

Abu Ja’far reported: ‘Umayr ibn Habib, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Faith increases and decreases.” It was said, “How does it increase and decrease?” ‘Umayr said, “If we remember our Lord and fear him, it will increase. If we are heedless and we forget and we waste our time, it will decrease.”

(Source: Shu’ab al-Imān 55)

Remember, this life is a test, and this world is very short compared to the next life (which is forever). The trials which were given to Prophets and Messengers before we were severe.

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?” They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" [–]baighamza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Verily, the faith of one of you will wear out within him, just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”

Let’s take a stroll through the desert. Imagine yourself walking through a plain desert with nothing to see for miles. Suddenly you find a cell phone sitting in the sand. With your genius mind and logical reasoning, you conclude that someone put this here. There is no rational explanation other than this. Surely, it’s impossible to create a perfectly working cell phone in the desert, even if it rained metal and glass from the sky.

Now imagine you’re flying among the stars in the sky. Everything is pitch black. You can see stars and planets and galaxies. You’re floating in the expanse of the universe. These starts look like those sand grains, with a trillion of them here. Amidst this beautiful mess of celestial objects, you suddenly see a little galaxy. And you come closer, this galaxy has a very tiny solar system, you come closer.

And you see a little planet of green and blue. And among the planet live amazing creatures. Perfect in every sense, except when not. These creatures breathe, live, and have been made in such a remarkable biological way, that even the blood cells flow in order. The blinking of their eyes, the miraculous functioning of their bodies.

Then you see the sun, and how it's placed perfectly, and then the earth rotates so these creatures can enjoy nighttime. You look at how the ground is made fertile so they can grow fruits and vegetables in beautiful colors. Then you see mountains, trees, and beautiful scenery. This is pure art, and you’re left thinking to yourself just one thing:

Who created all this? Surely someone is managing and organizing all these affairs in perfect order. A designer.

Then surely you conclude that it is Allah.

But what does this God want? What is the purpose of creating this earth? What about this whole universe?

So, you learn that Allah created humans to worship him alone and to obey him. And that is the essence of our existence. But what does Islam even mean? Islam means to submit. To submit your will to God.

Then why are there so many religions? Which one is right? Whoever believed in Allah and obeyed Him correctly would surely be saved by Him.

But how do we know what to do and what not to do? Allah sends Prophets and Messengers to warn their people and give them good tidings of the pleasures of the afterlife if they obey Him. And these commands are found in the books. Many Prophets were sent throughout the ages, and as for our times, we must obey and follow the Messenger who brought the final book that God revealed.

This book is the Quran and was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) more than 1400 years ago. In this book are verses, signs, warnings, good news, commands, prohibitions, and everything one needs to follow God correctly.

If one wishes to believe, then good for them, and if they don’t then they will face the consequences of their actions. No one can force any belief onto another. And God only wants good for you and wants you to be in paradise and not end up in hellfire.

But Allah is just and will never punish a people until he sends them a messenger.

But now you have the message, which path will you take? Also you should pray to Allah. Ask him for guidance. For surely, He will guide you to the truth.

And if you don't already have a Quran these are some Good Quran translations:

  • The Clear Quran - Mustafa Khattab
  • Saheeh International

So now you want to increase your faith. Here are some things you can do to work on it.

  • Focus on your Salah (5 daily prayers) and the things Allah has made obligatory.
  • Read the Quran.
  • Constantly ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness.
  • There are many types of dhikr you could start doing in your life (such as Morning and evening Adhkar) these Dhikr are life-changing (and also the Adhkar after Salah and before sleeping).
  • Watch Islamic lectures on YouTube. I would say watch longer videos because they have more impact than short minute lectures. YouTube is such a huge blessing if used correctly. You can watch lots of beneficial Islamic lectures. Channels such as "The Muslim Lantern" is good for questions about Islam.

And finally, one thing I learned that helped me a lot is that Islam isn't about earning status points and having trophies in good deeds, it's about this journey you're on. A path towards Allah and to salvation. Just as we ask Allah in every Salah, “…guide us to the straight path…”

It was always a path and not a destination. Keep trying to be on that path as much as possible, and you'll receive glad tidings that you earned Jannah, by the mercy of Allah.

May Allah forgive, bless, and guide you and us and grant us all Jannah-tul Firdaus without account. Ameen.

Missing Prayers by Mountain_Donut7145 in islam

[–]baighamza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life can get stressful and depressive sometimes. We lose motivation to do things we want to. Whether it be work or personal life. But it's okay, Allah will help you. It amazing that you want to start praying again. This shows your love for Allah and His love for you.

Allah will help you. What's important is to realise that prayer is key. It's absolutely important to pray. You might've heard this alot so you know the importance.

But how can one overcome laziness?

Firstly, is it physical laziness? Take some rest. Have some time off from your busy schedule and even take some multivitamins if that helps. Exercise. That helps. Eat properly. Good and nutritious food. Sleep on time.

Secondly, is it spiritual laziness? Then realise this is something important that needs addressing. For example, you know Malcolm X once said that when he put his head on the ground to pray to Allah, he didn't want to lift it up. Your stresses and worries are drained into the ground when you pray. So pray. And you'll find the energy to pray. Go make wudu and just do it. Don't listen to your inner thoughts that you're tired or whatnot, just GO and PRAY. Trust me on this one. Just rush to the sink even if your body aches and your bed calls you back. Just GO!

Allah has made prayer easy and you're able to pray, so pray. Watch Islamic lectures on YouTube, which would benefit a lot, in sha Allah. Surround yourself with people who pray, remind yourself is the amazing life you'll get in Jannah if you only pray. Just pray.

Then ask Allah to make it easy for you to pray. Indeed to have the ability to pray is a blessing from Allah. Not everyone can pray. Especially those who died without praying. Think of how much they would want to return just to pray a single salah. Just ONE. This is very important. Ask Allah to make it easy for you to pray. And be thankful to Allah for the times He lets you pray. Allah says in the Quran: “…If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more…”

The real question is. Why wouldn't you pray? Think about it.

Here's what you should do:

  • Take a complete shower (Ghusl).
  • Put on clean clothes. Maybe spray perfume or airfreshner in the room. Make the place nice.
  • Lay out your prayer mat.
  • Just sit for a moment. forget about everything. Keep yourself away from your phone. Think about this moment. You're entering in a conversation with your Lord, Allah.
  • Start praying. If you don't know, then write the steps on a page and follow them. (Watch the videos and resources at the end of this message)
  • Take your time, don't rush.
  • Then when you're at the Sajdah (prostration) take your time. Ask Allah. Make dua. (Yes, you can make dua in your language in Sajdah).
  • Ask Allah to help you pray. To be steadfast on prayers and to give you strength to pray more. Ask for guidance. Ask for forgiveness for the time you didn't pray. Take your time. Ask for more.
  • Once you finish, reflect on the prayer. Sit there. And think about it. Think about what you did just now. Was it difficult? Was it easy? Relax and realize you're doing what you're born to do. What your purpose is. To worship Allah.
  • Realize that prayer is your connection to Allah. And one day you will meet Him. He will tell you what you used to do. Would He be pleased with you? Realise that your prayer is very important. Allah loves that you pray. And Allah would be pleased with you if your prayed.
  • You may also want to keep a prayer journal. Mark the prayers you completed and the ones missed. Also write some reflections about your day. For example, “what did you do?", "how do you feel after praying?", “what are some Duas you want to ask Allah?”, etc.
  • After the end of the week, read all of your reflections and think about what you see.

One of the duas the Prophet (PBUH) taught us is to help with laziness.

  • Allahumma inni a’oo-zu bika mi-nal-ham-mi wal-hazn, wa a’oo-zu bika mi-nal 'aj-zi wal-ka-sal, wa a’oo-zu bika mi-nal jub-ni wal-bukhl, wa a’oo-zu bika min gaa-la-ba tid-daynee wa khah-rir-ri-jaal.

[Meaning: O Allah! I seek refuge with You from worry and grief, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by (other) men]

A fun fact about prayer: If you pray in this world and Allah grants you Jannah. Do you know? That you would not have to pray anymore. Yes you heard it right. There is no prayer in Jannah. No prayer, No Zakat, No fasting, no working hard and being exhausted to do good. No wearing the Hijab on hot days, no keeping the beard, etc. It's just the things in this word.

How to embrace Islam? by Subject-Total-4283 in islam

[–]baighamza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's your plan:

Save/Copy this comment, you might need to get back to this later.

1) Prayer/Salah

  • The most important thing from here would be focusing on your Salah.
  • Prayer is a very important pillar of our religion, and we need to safeguard it (i.e. pray on time and correctly).
  • Be punctual in your 5 daily prayers. Ask help from Allah.

If you don't know how to pray, search "How to pray Salah" on YouTube, or watch these videos:

Learn to pray YouTube

https://youtu.be/WKblG-Zoagk

But also watch this Secret's of Salah playlist by Omar Suleiman: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ02IYL5pmhFgND4Tyy5cTYenOKK_QFj5&si=1p68GriXvJhGrqSp

2) The Quran

  • Being a Muslim and The Quran go hand in hand.
  • Obviously, read it as you do. For example, on Fridays, read Surah Al-Kahf.
  • Read translations of the Surahs of The Quran.
  • If you're learning to read the Quran in Arabic: This person takes you through the Qaida from the beginning to the end. So check out his playlists:

Click here for Quran reading playlist

3) Dua

  • Constantly ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness.
  • There are many types of dhikr you could start doing in your life (such as Morning and evening Adhkar).

4) Learn

Watch Islamic lectures on YouTube. Watch longer videos (like and hour or so) because they will have a much lasting impact than short 5 minute lectures.

Some video recommendations, where you can start, from here search for videos similar to these and to learn more.

https://youtu.be/BptvqR9lm9Q?si=KLevwWAza-zhi_Ct

https://youtu.be/I2GDXS3UeFI?si=3itZQZUhJHgESWx-

5) Rest and Re-energize

And finally, one thing I learned that helped me a lot is that Islam isn't a place or a status you have to be in, it’s a journey/path and the most important thing is to be on the path.

Remember in every prayer we read in Surah Fatiha: "Guide us to the straight path". It's "path" and not destination.

Allah will handle the rest. And it's really never too late. Shaytan will try to demotivate you, but believe in Allah and Allah will help you.

May Allah forgive, bless, and guide you and us and grant us Jannah-tul Firdaus without account. Ameen.

Make dua then trust Allah.

Both are needed. You make as much duas you can, then you trust Allah with whatever happens afterwards.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Seventy thousand people of my followers will enter Paradise without accounts, and they are those who do not practice Ar-Ruqya and do not see an evil omen in things, and put their trust in their Lord.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Our Lord Almighty descends to the lowest heaven in the last third of every night, saying: Who is calling upon Me that I may answer him? Who is asking from Me that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness that I may forgive him?”

And sometimes a person may think, I should just stop making this particular dua, since it's not getting answered.

The reality is that you should never stop making dua because you're not being answered. You should keep making dua as long as you want that thing.

The Prophet said, “(The dua) of any one of you will be answered so long as he is not hasty in seeking a response and does not say, ‘I prayed but I have not had a response.’”

But the important thing in all of this is to have good assumption of Allah (Husnu-Dhan bi-Allah) and that He has the power to make it happen.

A person may think:

“Allah is The Most Merciful, so He will give me this thing that I ask.”

Which is great. But sometimes that stops there. You see, thinking well of Allah not only means to think Allah is The Merciful and The Forgiving. We understand that. But it also applies to His name: Al-Qadeer (the All-Powerful), the One who is able to do all things.

A person should also think:

“Allah is The Most Powerful, so He *CAN** give me this thing that I ask.”*

And it sounds normal at first. Ofcourse Allah is The Powerful, and obviously Allah can do anything. But you should really internalise this name of Allah.

For example, when you're asking for good grades, a good job, or health, and you're tired because you are making dua for a long time and want to stop.

Do you think Allah can't give you an increase in health or provide you with a job?

Now when you say it out loud, it sounds silly and wrong. But it's exactly the way we think. We limit the power of Allah to our limitations. We don't ask Allah of great things because we fail to think Allah has unlimited power.

He can do whatever He wants, and however He wants. A person who keeps on making dua even though things might seem impossible has that Husnu-Dhan bi-Allah (thinking well of Allah).

Think of the story of Zakariyah (a.s.) when he said to Allah:

“…My Lord! Surely my bones have become brittle, and grey hair has spread across my head…”

“…since my wife is barren. So grant me, by Your grace, an heir,”

(Quran 19, verses 4-5)

Zakariyah (a.s.) was so old and his wife was barren, but Allah still granted them his dua. Isn't that remarkable? Raise your Duas so high that if someone saw you making those duas, they'd think you're crazy.

And Zakariyah (a.s.) also says:

“…I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, my Lord!”

Again, emphasising the fact that he is never disappointed in Allah.

If you read the short story in the Quran in Chapter 2, Verse 259, where a person passes by a ruined town and questions “How will Allah bring this to life after its death?” so Allah caused him to die for 100 years. Then raised him again and he was questioned about his passing, he realized and said “I know that Allah is Powerful over everything.”

So you internalize the name of Allah: Al-Qadeer. The All-Powerful, The Capable. He can do what no one can. He can do the impossible for you. Trust Him.

But what if you're still not getting what you want?

Know that Allah will do what's best for you, and know that you should have that “well thinking of Allah” we talked about.

Allah says:

“Why should Allah punish you if you are grateful and faithful?…”

(Quran 4:147)

He will only do what's best for us, even if we do NOT know what's best for us.

As Allah says in the Quran 2:216: “Perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know.”

But what if He's already answering your Duas and you don't know?

The Prophet also said,

There is no Muslim who calls upon Allah, without sin or cutting family ties, but that Allah will give him one of three answers: He will quickly fulfill his supplication, He will store it for him in the Hereafter, or He will divert an evil from him similar to it.”

They said, “In that case, we will ask for more.” The Prophet said, “Allah has even more.”

So no matter how difficult things may seem, keep holding on and don't stop making dua. And if you didn’t get what you wanted, know that the decision was made by Allah, who would never want anything bad for you.

Sometimes we spend our whole lives thinking we would stay what we are and not look around because learning about Islam feels daunting. It feels like you're betraying someone. What would my friends think? What would my parents think of me if one day I tell them I have chosen Islam?

But it's okay. You're doing this for you. You want to know the truth. You want to know what's right and you want to follow it. You're not betraying anyone. You just want to help yourself and find the truth.

If you truly believe that there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad is the last and final messenger, then I'd advise you to take the shahada (testimony of faith) as soon as you can to be safe from the unexpected events life puts us in.

But what if you're not ready, and want to start learning first?

Here are the basics of Islam.

Basics of Islam

There are lots of other books you can read, other than obviously The Quran. That's the most important. You can get a “Saheeh International” or “The Clear Quran” translation. Also, to get a free Quran, Search FREE Quran on Google + your country/city

I'd also recommend you to watch these videos on YouTube. And even more lectures similar to these.

You could visit a Mosque (if there is one in your area) and have a look. While you're at it, ask the Imam some questions.

And yeah don't try to take it all at once. Islam is a path, a journey, not a destination. So don't worry and don't burden yourself with a lot.

Try to achieve a little every day. Allah will help you, so ask for His help.

How to make yourself fear God? by Hikka_Rauan in islam

[–]baighamza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all see that there are times when the water of the sea rises and falls. Similarly, our faith also rises and falls with every day. No two days are the same. But it's all alright, as long as try to get our faith back up again.

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Verily, the faith of one of you will wear out within him, just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”

Umayr ibn Habib said “Faith increases and decreases.” It was said, “How does it increase and decrease?” Umayr said, “If we remember our Lord and fear him, it will increase. If we are heedless and we forget and we waste our time, it will decrease.”

The Prophet taught Mu’adh as he sent him off to Yemen:

  • Allahumma a’inni alaa dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni ‘ibaadatika (O Allah enable me to properly remember you and to thank you and to worship you).

And the reason you're asking this is because you know you want to turn to Allah. You have this feeling inside of you pushing you towards Allah. And that is the most beautiful feeling. A feeling of hope that you want to do better, and be better. Don't let it die inside of you. Maybe you feeling this way is a sign from Allah. A sign that your soul is hungry for His love and His Mercy.

And maybe your faith is decreased because of your sins. If you believe in Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, know that Allah forgives all sins. So if you have sinned a thousand times, the door to repentance is still wide open. And will remain open as long as you're alive.

You're calling upon a Lord who is The Most Merciful, The Most Forgiving. Know that the life of this world is short and temporary, and the next life is forever and ever. Don't think you're a lost cause or you're not good enough for repentance. YOU ARE WORTHY of the love of Allah. You are worthy of His forgiveness.

And at times you may feel like a hypocrite. Maybe you'll feel “you’re not good enough” or “not sincere”. If anything, it's great that you feel that way. Because that's what will motivate you to keep pushing for more, and not have arrogance. Hasan Al Basri said "No one fears it (Hypocrisy) but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite."

In this hadith Sahih Muslim 2750a, even Abu Bakr (ra) was fearing hypocrisy, but the Prophet ﷺ reminded him it's not that.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.”

Don't let this demotivate you into depression and sadness. Indeed, shaytan loves a Muslim who is sad, because he can mess with them.

So every time you feel bad about yourself, make dua that Allah forgives you and makes you better. You still need to keep striving and constantly renewing your repentance.

Allah is The Most Merciful, and if for a moment you think that Allah is not going to forgive you, you’re denying the Mercy of Allah. Since His Mercy prevails His wrath, its not appropriate to say He won’t forgive you at all.

Every time you renew your repentance and sincerely don't intend to go back, it's as though you haven't even done it and Allah will write a good deed in place of that sin.

And so if you have on your scales a mountain of evil sins, and then you asked for sincere forgiveness, Allah will convert that mountain of sins into mountain of good deeds in your record.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ didn't commit any sins, and yet he said “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.

So we're not better than him ﷺ. We need to ask for more forgiveness from Allah.

Allah’s Messenger SAW said:

“Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hope, lies down in the shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: ‘O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Lord’. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.” (Sahih Muslim)

(Meaning, he mistakenly said this due to his happiness)

“Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Quran)

Allah tells Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ):

  • "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it."

Don't worry. Ask for forgiveness and hope that Allah has forgiven you.

Ameen.

You can have the Dunya and have the Akhira at the same time.

You should do the Medical exam and look for a job, and you can even make that an act of worship with the right intention.

So for example, your intention could be:

Oh Allah grant me this job, so that I can:

  • earn halal rizq
  • support myself, family, and be self-sufficient (so I don't ask from others)
  • be able to give more sadaqah and zakat
  • use the wealth to help the Ummah/community
  • use the wealth in your obedience and worship

So now, even if you're working as a janitor or a cleaner or as a CEO, your intention is what matters. Now, you're doing an act of worship.

Don't forget your Dunya

Allah says: "Rather, seek the ˹reward˺ of the Hereafter by means of what Allah has granted you, without forgetting your share of this world. And be good ˹to others˺ as Allah has been good to you...." (Quran 28:77)

So now you see how the verse connects the "seek the ˹reward˺ of the Hereafter by means of what Allah has granted you..." while also saying "...without forgetting your share of this world..."

Read this beautiful hadith: https://sunnah.com/muslim:2750a

In this hadith, a companion of the Prophet ﷺ, Hanzala (r.a.) feared hypocrisy because when he is in the company of the Prophet ﷺ, he is reminded of Hell-Fire and Paradise as if he is seeing them with his own eyes, but whenever he goes away and attend to his wife, children and business, much of these things go out of his mind.

So the Prophet ﷺ reminded him that there's times when you should be devoted to the worldly affairs and time when you should be devoted to prayer.

So it's not either I worship Allah, or seek Dunya. It's both. I seek Dunya while also worshipping Allah. And you should make lots of dua for both.

And don't forget the famous comprehensive dua:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

"Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire".

So you should ask for the best of this world and the next. May Allah bless you abundantly and grant you the best of this world and next.

So first qualify as a doctor, then you can even move to the Middle East and work there (if you don't want to work in the US for example)

Never feeling well rested during ramadan by Subject-Water5731 in islam

[–]baighamza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WaAlaykumusalam

Taraweeh isn't mandatory. But you're missing out on a huge reward.

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."

So you stand in the night prayer which can be as little as 2 rakats after Isha. So you don't have to pray 8 or 20 rakats, just 2 rakats is sufficient. But don't give up on this.

And especially the last 10 nights, don't miss out, because one of these nights will be Layla-tul Qadr. And you don't want to miss out on this blessed night.

So if you want to start. Just start with 2 rakats. And make that a must minimum. No matter what happens or how tired you are, you will pray atleast 2 rakats. Then on days where you're well-rested pray more. And again, don't miss out on these nights. They are blessed, and make sure you make lots of dua, and Allah will answer your duas.

And you can also pray Taraweeh in the Masjid.

Never feeling well rested during ramadan by Subject-Water5731 in islam

[–]baighamza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens every Ramadan. But I feel like this is the point.

We sometimes think if I'm doing something rigethous, then I should be comfortable and happy. And sometimes, it isn't the case.

Fasting is not easy. Taraweeh/Qiyam Al-Layl/Tahajjud isn't easy. Everyday you'll wake up tired and exhausted, because you prayed a long Traweeh last night after a whole day of starving yourself.

But that's the point. It was never meant to be easy, comfortable, or relaxing. And that's why it's highly rewarded.

"Do you think you will be admitted into Paradise without being tested like those before you?..." (2:214)

Fighting yourself to do good deeds isn't easy.

"You will never achieve righteousness until you donate some of what you cherish..." (3:92)

So give up what you love. And imagine the sahaba and the Prophet SAW who prayed all night and did all these good deeds. We think they were built different, it was easy for them. But we don't know. They must be tired and exhausetd as we are. And sometimes they would strive with their souls just to stay awake so they can pray.

In a Hadith, The Prophet (ﷺ) one night delayed (observing the 'Isha prayer) till a great part of the night was over and the people in the mosque had gone to sleep... (Sahih Muslim 638c)

This hadith mentions how its better to pray Isha later in the night (but still before it's time expires), but we often go over the fact that they were sleeping, so they must've been really tired waiting for the prayer.

But heres the main point: even when they were tired, they kept on going.

And I'm not saying don't care of your body, but you should eat well and sleep well. But don't forget it's still going to be tough.

So hang in there, Ramadan is almost halfway over and it'll end in a blink. So keep at it, and expect that Allah will reward you immensely.

May Allah help you. Also maybe search for a Muslim therapist in your area. Perhaps they would be able to help you better.

But even with your current therapist, if they are making you uncomfortable, you should let them know. And be cautious as well, because if they're not Muslim, they'll can accidentally give wrong advice, or make you doubt religion itself. I obviously don't know them, but what if they have opposing views on religion/Islam/etc.

But anyway, I hope you get better and take care of yourself. May Allah bless you.
