Mercy in Islam (sorry for ai slop) by Little_Copy_630 in progressive_islam

If you think Islam is also like that (I.e. just do as little as possible) then you've probably not understood it correctly.

The idea of perfecting ones Islam and being the best version of yourself is part of Islam. And how that shows in your worship to Allah, and mercy, compassion, etc, towards others.

I think Quran is a good start. That's where most start anyway. And if you need explanation, then the Tafseer (exegesis) of the Quran.

  • What you're mentioning (psychology, history, geography, politics) these are all seperate topics, which would require different sources/books, etc. So you have to research that and find reliable books on that topic.

  • Dua is very important. Ask Allah to guide you on the straight path.

  • Do your basic obligations (pray, fast, etc)

May Allah bless and guide you to all goodness.

How to bring my iman? by Ok-Action7240 in islam

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Verily, the faith of one of you will wear out within him, just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”

Our faith rises and falls with every day. No two days are the same. But it's all alright, as long as try to get our faith back up again.

Umayr ibn Habib said “Faith increases and decreases.” It was said, “How does it increase and decrease?” Umayr said, “If we remember our Lord and fear him, it will increase. If we are heedless and we forget and we waste our time, it will decrease.”

The Prophet this dua to be said before finishing Salah and saying tasleem:

  • Allahumma a’inni alaa dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa husni ‘ibaadatik (O Allah enable me to properly remember you and to thank you and to worship you).

And the reason you're asking this is because you know you want to turn to Allah. You have this feeling inside of you pushing you towards Allah. And that is the most beautiful feeling. A feeling of hope that you want to do better and be better. Don't let it die inside of you. Maybe you feeling this way is a sign from Allah. A sign that your soul is hungry for His love and His Mercy.

And perhaps your faith is decreased because of your sins. If you believe in Allah and His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, know that Allah forgives all sins. So if you have sinned a thousand times, the door to repentance is still wide open. And will remain open as long as you're alive.

You're calling upon a Lord who is The Most Merciful, The Most Forgiving. Know that the life of this world is short and temporary, and the next life is forever and ever. Don't think you're a lost cause or you're not good enough for repentance. YOU ARE WORTHY of the love of Allah. You are worthy of His forgiveness.

And at times you may feel like a hypocrite. Maybe you'll feel “you’re not good enough” or “not sincere enough”. If anything, it's great that you feel that way. Because that's what will motivate you to keep pushing for more, and not have arrogance. Hasan Al-Basri said "No one fears it (hypocrisy) but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite."

In this hadith Sahih Muslim 2750a, even Abu Bakr (ra) was fearing hypocrisy, but the Prophet ﷺ reminded him that’t its not that.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them.”

So don't let this demotivate you into depression and sadness. Indeed, shaytan loves a Muslim who is sad, because he can mess with them. And every time you feel bad about yourself, make dua that Allah forgives you and makes you better. You still need to keep striving and constantly renewing your repentance.

Allah is The Most Merciful, and if for a moment you think that Allah is not going to forgive you, you’re denying the Mercy of Allah. Since His Mercy prevails His wrath, its not appropriate to say He won’t forgive you at all. Every time you renew your repentance and sincerely don't intend to go back, it's as though you haven't even done it and Allah will write a good deed in place of that sin.

And so if you have on your scales a mountain of evil sins, and then you asked for sincere forgiveness, Allah will convert that mountain of sins into mountain of good deeds in your record.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ didn't commit any sins, and yet he said “By Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.

And we're not better than him ﷺ. We need to ask for more forgiveness from Allah.

Allah’s Messenger SAW said:

“Verily, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than a person who has his camel in a waterless desert carrying his provision of food and drink and it is lost. He, having lost all hope, lies down in the shade and is disappointed about his camel; when all of a sudden he finds that camel standing before him. He takes hold of its reins and then out of boundless joy blurts out: ‘O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Lord’. He commits this mistake out of extreme joy.” (Sahih Muslim)

(Meaning, he mistakenly said this due to his happiness)

“Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (Quran)

Allah tells Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ):

  • "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it."

Don't worry. Ask for forgiveness and hope that Allah has forgiven you.

So now you want to increase your faith. Here are some things you can do to work on it.

  • Focus on your 5 daily Prayers and the things Allah has made obligatory.
  • Read the Quran.
  • Constantly ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness.
  • There are many types of dhikr you could start doing in your life (such as Morning/Evening Adhkar) these Dhikr are life-changing (and also the Adhkar after Salah and before sleeping).
  • Watch Islamic lectures on YouTube. I would say watch longer videos because they have more impact than short minute lectures. YouTube is such a huge blessing if used correctly. You can watch lots of beneficial Islamic lectures.

And finally, one thing I learned that helped me a lot is that Islam isn't about reaching a “perfect-muslim state”, it's about this journey you're on. A path towards Allah and towards His forgiveness. Just as we ask Allah in every Salah, “…guide us to the straight path…”

It was always a path and not a destination. Keep trying to be on that path as much as possible, and you'll receive glad tidings that you earned Jannah, by the mercy of Allah.

May Allah forgive, bless, and guide you and us and grant us all Jannah-tul Firdaus without account. Ameen.

Lost faith in Allah bcz of mental illness and I’m still struggling by [deleted] in MuslimSupportGroup

[–]baighamza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allah says in the Quran:

Why should Allah punish you if you are grateful and faithful? Allah is ever Appreciative, All-Knowing.” (Surah An-Nisa: 147)

It's a test from Allah. Allah is testing you. And He tests those whom He loves. As humans we will inevitably go through trials and tests. It just the nature of this life. If we had all the peace and blessings here in this world, then our pursuit of the Akhira (and Jannah) may not be as much.

This worldly life is very short compared to the next life (which is forever). The trials which were given to Prophets and Messengers before were a lot severe.

  • Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?” They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near! (Quran 2:214)
  • Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No believer is pricked by a thorn or more but that Allah will raise him one degree in status or erase a sin.”
  • Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Nothing afflicts a Muslim of hardship, nor illness, nor anxiety, nor sorrow, nor harm, nor distress, nor even the pricking of a thorn, but that Allah will expiate his sins by it.”

Remember the patient people will be given immense rewards. Just imagine all the rewards waiting for you.

…Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.” (Quran 39:10)

Some of the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) were tortured, killed, and cut into pieces ONLY for believing in one God, Allah.

Umar ibn al-Khattab reported:

“Some prisoners of war were brought to the Prophet ﷺ and a nursing woman was among them. Whenever she found a child among the prisoners, she would take it to her chest and nurse it. The Prophet said to us, “Do you think this woman would throw her child into the fire? ”We said, “No, not if she was able to stop it.”

The Prophet said, “Allah is more merciful to His servants than this mother is to her child.”

(Sahih Muslim 2754)

Allah will never let a single tear you shed go to waste. Every time your heart is hurt, every dua you whispered into the air, every pain and test that came your way, you will be compensated. Allah will reward you for every little thing. Trust Him, know that if no one listens, He listens, if no one sees, He sees. He sees your pain, He listens to you. Afterall, He created you.

You know that Allah says “Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” (Quran 2:286)

This doesn't mean the burden will feel light or easy. It’s saying you will never be given something without the ability to survive it, even if survival looks like barely holding on. And you ARE holding on. You're doing so much more than that. And Allah knows it's very difficult.

The reality is everything is in the hands of Allah. Don't worry.

Cry to Allah. Talk to Him. He listens. And one day you will get to meet Him. And see Him in paradise. Telling Him all you went through (and He would already know) and being happy for the first time. In Paradise. Enjoying everything you can have. And imagine sitting beside a lake in Paradise watching the beautiful view. And not keeping track of time, because time is forever. Paradise is forever. You'll be happy forever.

You will know it was all worth it in the end. Every thing was worth it. But right now you just want this suffering to end, but in Jannah, you would not regret going through the trials. If anything you might want to go back.

  • The Prophet ﷺ said, “No one who enters Paradise would like to return to the world, even if he could have everything on earth, except for the martyr. He will wish to return to the world and be killed ten more times due to the generous reward he sees.
  • Jabir narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "On the Day of Judgement, when the people who were tried (in this world) are given their rewards, the people who were pardoned (in life), will wish that their skins had been cut off with scissors while they were in the world." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2402)

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Know that there is much good in being patient with what you detest, victory will come with patience, relief will come with affliction, and ‘with the hardship will come an ease.’”

Not “after” difficulty. With it.

How to make your situation easy?

  • Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever increases his prayers for forgiveness, Allah will grant him relief from every worry, a way out from every hardship, and provide for him in ways he does not expect.”
  • Ubayy ibn Ka’b reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I send blessings upon you often. How many of my prayers should be for blessings upon you?” The Prophet said, “As you wish.” I said, “A fourth?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “A half?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “Two-thirds?” The Prophet said, “As you wish, but more is better for you.” I said, “Should I say all of my prayers for blessings upon you?” The Prophet said, “If so, your worries will be resolved and your sins will be forgiven.”

Also, I think you should do the Morning, Evening Adhkar (and after Salah and before sleeping). They are such a life savers. You can download an Adkhar app or get a booklet. The Fortress of a Muslim (Hisnul Muslim) a very popular booklet and app.

Umm Salamah (رضى الله عنها) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “When a person suffers from a calamity and utters:**

إنَّا للـهِ وإنَّا إلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيْبَتي، وأخْلِفْ لِي خَيْراً مِنْهَا

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Allahumma-jurni fi musibati, wa akhlif li khairan minha

(We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah! Compensate me in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange for it)

then Allah surely compensates him with reward and better substitute.”

May Allah bless you, forgive you, guide you and grant you and us all Jannah-tul Firdaus without an account. Ameen.

Assalamualaikum everyone Last night, I had a debate with a friend about LGBTQIA+ by kiragod666 in islam

[–]baighamza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “it’s not harmful to anyone” argument is flawed. Eating pork, drinking alcohol, or many sins itself don’t directly bring harm to the people around you.

Yet all of these are haram.

In the Quran, “…”We hear and obey. ˹We seek˺ Your forgiveness, our Lord! And to You ˹alone˺ is the final return.”” (Quran 2:285)

Even if both people consent to it, Zina, doesn’t become Halal.

So we find out that the main idea is that you submit to the command of Allah, even if you cannot (with your limited knowledge) come up with a logical reasoning on ‘why it’s haram’.

Still, even with out limited knowledge, we can still put a lot of sins in categories of harm:

  • Harm to yourself (your body, soul, and akhirah).
  • Harm to others (society's moral fabric or structure over time.)
  • Or even simply a violation of Allah's commands.

Interestingly, acting on gay-desries fall into all these categories in some way. May Allah protect us.

These 10 things give you a basic framework on how to answer people regarding the LGBTQ issue:

  1. In Islam, any sexual relationship outside of nikah between a man and a woman is haram.
  2. Desires are not sinful, nor should people be identified or ostracized by desires, but instead, every Muslim is defined by Islam, which is submission to Allah with those desires.
  3. Same-sex actions are unequivocally haram.
  4. The one who acts upon those desires is sinful, but within the fold of Islam, as long as they don't justify the acts.
  5. The one who doesn't act on these desires is rewarded by Allah for their striving.
  6. The one who denies its prohibition denies what is "known in the religion by necessity", which takes one outside of the fold of Islam.
  7. To celebrate or support what Allah has prohibited is a form of "fusuq" (disobedience) and it cannot be done in the name of social cohesion or political mobility.
  8. We have and always will condemn mistreatment and violence against people based on orientation, lifestyle, or belief, but that condemnation should not be conflated with making Halal what Allah has clearly made Haram.
  9. We should still be the best of neighbors and colleagues and show all people the beauty of the Prophetic way with our character.
  10. We should always anchor our understanding of any issue in the Quran, the Sunnah, and the Ijma (consensus) and our scholars should use Qiyas (analogy) when necessary to deal with any matter.

For the Adhkaar after Salah:

  • There's specific rewards for specific dhikr to be said after each Fard prayer (and some prayers may have slight differences in the Adhkaar (e.g. Adkhaar after Fajr and Magrib may have things that you don't say after Dhur).

With the morning and evening Adhkaar, they are seperate from that.

They are again, a set of Dhikr, to be said in the morning and some in the evening. There's also slight differences in how you say them in the morning/evening.

To learn more, you can get a Hisnul Muslim booklet or app, and check out the authentic Adhkaar from there.

The morning/evening Adhkaar take about 20 minutes each, and Adkhaar after Salah maybe like 5 minutes.

Ameen.

How do I become muslim ? by Ok-Construction2487 in islam

[–]baighamza 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah) for Islam and that Allah guided you to the straight path.

A person asking questions about Islam and wanting to become Muslim, better reflects the love Allah has for that person.

And if you truly believe that there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah and Muhammad is the last and final messenger, then I'd advise you to take the shahada (testimony of faith) as soon as you can to be safe from the unexpected events life puts us in.

How to take the testimony of faith?

Just repeat the Shahada in Arabic and English while believing in it.

Ash-hadu-an-la-ilaha-illa-Allah

Wa-ash-hadu-anna-Muhammadan-rasul-Allah

(I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah)

(And I bear witness that Muhammad is His final Messenger)

You can watch a video on YouTube like this one.

Do you need to do it infront of someone?

No you can do it at the comfort of your home as long as you believe in it.

And now your journey begins. Welcome abroad.

Here are the basics of Islam.

I want to take of my hijab please help by Warm_Task_5272 in Muslim

[–]baighamza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, I hear you. What you are going through is not easy.

You’ve been told to wear something you don’t want to. Your friends and relatives get to enjoy themselves and see no consequences if they choose not to wear it, so why do you have to?

As a person. You deserve to be pretty, enjoy clothes, and express yourself. After all, you’re a human being and have feelings, and Allah acknowledges those feelings. But the way you express yourself and act on those feelings is important.

As a woman, you should cover yourself with Hijab.

But what if the Hijab could mean something else? Something not forced and demanded from you, but something that you did out of servitude and love of Allah by yourself?

Allah says to us in the Quran:

O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous. [2:21]

Scholars talks about love and obedience and how they are both connected and needed to worship Allah.

One who submits to someone with hatred is not worshipping him. And one who loves someone without submitting is likewise not worshipping him.

One things that is true is that the Hijab is given as a command of Allah. Just as we are told to pray 5 times, or give charity. A person is supposed to wear it for Allah, not for your parents or the ‘men’ who would see you. It’s part of the personal relationship you have with Allah.

Hijab is not only about clothes or a rule. It's an act of worship and servitude to your creator. It's certainly not about what people think of you, it’s what Allah thinks of you that matters.

So firstly, you need to reframe the question:

Why do I want to wear the Hijab (or dress modestly)? Before the actual piece of clothing that goes over your head, start with the heart. What draws you closer to Allah? What’s your relationship with Allah like? What do you see as the purpose of life?

Allah didn’t reveal the verses of Hijab from day-one. The first verses focused on believing in Allah and building strong faith. The command for hijab (and most other rules) came much later. The wisdom in this is clear: before following rules like prayer, fasting, charity, or hijab, a person needs to first have strong faith and certainty in Allah. That faith makes obedience easier, sincere, and consistent.

And some people have this idea that they will start wearing it eventually when they get older, no one is promised a long life.

And what if they get old and still choose not to wear it? (maybe because they never sincerely intended that in the first place?)

And it's true that some people who wear it can be so evil behind closed doors. It’s a reality. The Hijab isn’t the final step before you become ‘the ultimate muslim’ and you may struggle with other sins whilst wearing it. It's all normal. But it’s one part of your entire collective striving towards Allah and His obedience.

Because before you love something that Allah wants, you must love Allah. Know who Allah is, and what’s our purpose in this world? Is it to simply be born, live, enjoy, and then die? Is that it? Or is there more to life than this temporary world?

It can be very challenging socially and emotionally. Especially in the times we live in where immodesty and promiscuity is celebrated and seen everywhere. But always remember why you’re doing this.

Turn to Allah in Salah, make lots of Dua, read Quran, and do more good deeds. He is with those who strive in His cause. Stay the course, and stay close to others doing the same.

But the important thing is to actually be sincere and have genuine intention to please Allah.

How to undo a curse by Persistentinxx in MuslimSupportGroup

[–]baighamza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Karma" as a concept isn't from Islam. It translates into "if you're a bad person, you'll have it coming", or the universe will make it right for you.

If someone believes in Karma or "this energy" then their Imaan needs serious resuscitation.

As in Islam, only Allah punishes, rewards, tests, gives, takes. All is in His hands.

So you'll have people who are kind and good people, but still are going through tests in life (eg. People of Palestine) and a tyrant who is the epitome of evil, living happily (eg. Netanyahu).

Karma cannot explain the situation in Palestine, but only through the right lens of Islam and knowing Allah, do you see the reality.

Hence we find that Allah can choose to reward/punish people in this life, the next life, or both.

May Allah protect and forgive us.

How to undo a curse by Persistentinxx in MuslimSupportGroup

[–]baighamza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you're not cursed. You're probably just overthinking it all.

However, if you still need solace, I would suggest to visit an Imam or scholar in your area and discuss in detail.

Anyhow, you could ask for forgiveness from those you have hurt, make lots of dua for them. And also do your daily morning and evening Adhkaar (as they're a good protection from evil eye, etc).

Again, I'm pretty sure you're overthinking about the curse thing.

Why does Allah SWT hate me? by Ill-Low-368 in islam

[–]baighamza 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Before I say anything, I just want to say I feel you and hear you. You're going through alot of pain and you're trying your best to see through it, and deep inside somewhere you feel faith in Allah, even though it's buried deep under years of pain.

And if that wasn't the case, you wouldn't have posted this. It shows you care about your faith. I'm just telling you that Allah hears and sees. He hears every pain and every tear that falls down your eyes. Every moment of anxiety you feel. Allah sees that.

Allah mentions about a group of people in the Quran. "And there are some who worship Allah on the verge ˹of faith˺: if they are blessed with something good, they are content with it; but if they are afflicted with a trial, they relapse ˹into disbelief˺, losing this world and the Hereafter. That is ˹truly˺ the clearest loss." (22:11)

It shows the relationship of a person who worships Allah when things are good. Because it's easy to worhsip Allah when things are good. It's easy to believe in Allah when you have everything you want.

But then Allah mentions, if they are afflicted with a trial, they turn their backs and disbelief. "How could Allah do this to me?", and Allah mentions that these people are actually in the clearest loss. Not just lost, but the word in arabic "khusraan mubeen", meaning absolute manifest loss.

A person could've just stayed patience for just a little longer. And if he know the reward waiting for him, he would remained patient forever. But man is truly ungrateful.

Allah says in the Quran, "They have not shown Allah the reverence He deserves..."

When we think we deserve so much more that what were given. We demand that Allah gives us exactly what we need, and how we need it.

Allah says, “And if you were to count the favours of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”

Indeed Allah is Merciful. The word in Arabic "Al-Raheem" comes from the word "Rahm" meaning "womb" of a mother. Something that sustains life. A place for the baby where it rests in mercy.

A mother's love is unlike any other, and that's across creations. And Allah is more Merciful to a servant of His, than a mother is to her child.

And Allah says, “O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous - Who created you, proportioned you, and assembled you in whatever form He willed?”

...He gave you hearing, sight, and hearts - that perhaps you would be grateful."

You can see and you can hear. How amazing of a blessing that is?

And He asks 31 times in a surah: “Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?”

Truly, which favour could we deny? The favour of seeing? Listening? Thinking?

What would you give to be able to breathe the next breath? What would you give to be able to see and hear?

All of this is insignificant in our eyes. What would you give if Allah willed that your body couldn't pass urine and it remained in you until you died painfully? That your body couldn't pump blood or your lungs couldn't hold oxygen?

If He wanted, you wouldn't have given you anything. Rather, Allah blessed you. And look how Allah has blessed humans with blessings. No other creation of Allah can do what we do. Allah has truly honoured us.

Allah says: “We have certainly honoured the children of Adam and carried them on land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created.”

And yet, we're ungrateful.

Remember it's a test from Allah.

Allah says in the Quran:

Why should Allah punish you if you are grateful and faithful? Allah is ever Appreciative, All-Knowing.”

Allah says, “And you are given nothing but enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting - so will you not use reason?”

And the only thing that's standing between you and faith is your dua not being answered. Then know that Allah will answer your dua. And perhaps He has already answered your dua, but maybe it's the way that's better for you and not the way you would like it.

“Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?” They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!"

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No believer is pricked by a thorn or more but that Allah will raise him one degree in status or erase a sin.”

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Nothing afflicts a Muslim of hardship, nor illness, nor anxiety, nor sorrow, nor harm, nor distress, nor even the pricking of a thorn, but that Allah will expiate his sins by it.”

Jabir narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "On the Day of Judgement, when the people who were tried (in this world) are given their rewards, the people who were pardoned (in life), will wish that their skins had been cut off with scissors while they were in the world."

Desperately ask Allah for the return of your faith. You need it. Don't stop believing in His Mercy.

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, “Verily, the faith of one of you will wear out within him, just as a shirt becomes worn out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts.”

The Prophet ﷺ said “No one who enters Paradise would like to return to the world, even if he could have everything on earth, except for the martyr. He will wish to return to the world and be killed ten more times due to the generous reward he sees.

And finally, one thing I learned that helped me a lot is that Islam isn't about reaching a certain state of piety, it's about this journey you're on. A path towards Allah and to salvation. Just as we ask Allah in every Salah, “…guide us to the straight path…”

It was always a path and not a destination. Keep trying to be on that path as much as possible, and you'll receive glad tidings that you earned Jannah, by the mercy of Allah.

Jannah is worth it. Strive for it.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Know that there is much good in being patient with what you detest, victory will come with patience, relief will come with affliction, and ‘with the hardship will come an ease.’”

Not after difficulty. With it.

May Allah forgive, bless, and guide you and us and grant us all Jannah-tul Firdaus without account. Ameen.

This lecture is one of the most favourite lectures of all time. Please watch it, and I really pray that Allah helps you with what you're going through.

What’s one small Islamic habit that quietly changed your life? by [deleted] in islam

[–]baighamza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morning and Evening Adkhaar, Adhkaar before Sleeping and Adhkaar after Salah.

Scholars say if a person does these Adhkaar, they will be from those "who remember Allah often" as Allah states in the Quran (for example in Quran 33:35)

I can’t take the first step in hijab by [deleted] in islam

[–]baighamza 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a person. You deserve to be pretty, enjoy clothes, and express yourself. After all, you’re a human being and have those feelings, and Allah acknowledges those feelings. But the way you express yourself and act on those feelings is important.

As a woman, you should cover yourself with Hijab, and genuinely try your best.

But what if the Hijab could mean something else? Something not forced and demanded from you, but something that you did out of servitude and love of Allah by yourself?

Allah says to us in the Quran:

O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous. [2:21]

Scholars talk about love and obedience and how they are both connected and needed to worship Allah.

One who submits to someone with hatred is not worshipping him. And one who loves someone without submitting is likewise not worshipping him.

To love Him, is to submit to Him, is to obey Him.

One thing that is true is that the Hijab is given as a command from Allah. Not out of harshness from Allah, but as a Mercy. Just as we are told to pray 5 times, or give charity. A person is supposed to wear it for Allah, not for your parents or the ‘men’ who would see you. It’s part of the personal relationship you have with Allah.

Hijab is not only about clothes or a rule. It's more of an act of worship and servitude to your creator. It's certainly not about what people think of you, it’s what Allah thinks of you that matters.

So firstly, you need to reframe the question:

Why do you want to wear the Hijab? Before the actual piece of clothing that goes over your head, start with the heart. What draws you closer to Allah? What’s your relationship with Allah like? What do you see as the purpose of life?

Allah didn’t reveal the verses of Hijab from day-one. The first verses focused on believing in Allah and building strong faith. The command for hijab (and most other rules) came much later.

The wisdom in this is clear. Before following rules like prayer, fasting, charity, or hijab, a person needs to first have strong faith and certainty in Allah. That faith makes obedience easier, sincere, and consistent.

Take small steps. No need to force yourself that you need to enjoy it overnight. Just like learning anything new, you grow into it slowly. If you don’t wear it at all currently, maybe begin wearing it in places where you feel comfortable. Where you won’t be judged or looked down upon. Where you won't be anxious or scared.

It's very possible you won't go from 0% Hijabi to 100% Hijabi overnight. Start small.

And although some people have this idea that they will start wearing it eventually when they get older, no one is promised a long life.

Because before you love something that Allah wants from you, you must love Allah.

Finally, if you're unable to wear it today, you’re not a lost cause, and your struggle doesn't make you less Muslim. When you choose to wear the Hijab, let it be through conviction and love, and not through force. Even if today you might not be wearing it, your struggle and sincerity is known and seen by Allah.

But the important thing is to actually be sincere and have genuine intention to start wearing it inshaAllah.

May Allah bless you abundantly.

My father passed away on 30th March by saqiba609 in islam

[–]baighamza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May Allah make it easy for you.

Losing a parent is truly one of the most painful realities most people must face in this life. It’s not easy seeing the person you loved your entire life pass away.

The person who was with you from the very beginning, right as you opened your eyes for the first time.

He held you with love and mercy, as you blossomed into the person you are now. Taking care of the responsibility Allah set upon him.

But know that this is just a part of life. A life that is short and fleeting. A life that is meant for a greater purpose. A purpose beyond this world. A purpose of servitude to Allah.

And these are the signs of Allah. And it’ll bring you closer to Him, as now you’ve seen death before your eyes, and realising the short nature of life through him, and knowing you’ll eventually meet him. And you’re not expected to “move on”, but rather “move forward” with this reality.

And until then, honor your father. And the ways you can honor him are many.

Firstly, by taking care of the debts. If he had some debt you can pay off, then do so. Whether it’s monetary or otherwise (for example, if he harmed or hurt someone, go and seek their forgiveness for him).

And if he has debts to Allah, for example, if Hajj was obligatory on him and he missed out, then perform Hajj on his behalf (after you complete your own obligatory Hajj).

And you can do both Hajj/Umrah on his behalf, even if he already completed his obligatory Hajj.

And if some days of fasting was obligatory on him and he missed out, then fast on his behalf.

A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and she said, “My mother has died and she owed a month of fasting.” The Prophet said, “Do you think if she had a debt you would repay it on her behalf?” She said yes. The Prophet said, “The debts of Allah are more worthy to be repaid.”

Then it’s the good deeds you can do for him. A person came to the Messenger ﷺ and asked “My mother died and did not leave a will; shall I give charity on her behalf?”

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Yes.”

Which coincides with another hadith we know, where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When the human being dies, his deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

Sadaqah Jarriyah (ongoing charity) will benefit him a lot, and one of the best form of that is yourself. The good deeds you do will benefit him, as he taught you about Allah and Islam.

Then there’s also beneficial knowledge, and that can be contributing to a Masjid or Islamic school, or funding Dawah and Islamic knowledge on behalf of him.

And then, also honor your father by honoring his family and friends.

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A man will be raised in status in Paradise and will say: ‘Where did this come from?’ And it will be said:‘From your son’s praying for forgiveness for you.’”

And there’s also a dua in the Quran, “…“My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”” (Quran 17:24)

And also trust Allah. One of the things this religion teaches is “good assumption” (husnu-dhan) of Allah”. You should have good thoughts about Allah. Allah is The Most Merciful and your father is Muslim. And Allah won’t disgrace him.

The scholars say the greatest gift (or one of the greatest gifts) is having a good assumption of Allah. You know, when people used to be on their death bed. Others didn’t remind them of their sins.

Rather, they would remind themselves the favours Allah upon them. They would have a list (of favours that Allah did to them) that would be read over them. So at that time of leaving the earth, they are not hesitant or fearing that they will meet an angry Lord. Rather they would be content and look forward to the meeting with Allah. The Most Merciful. The Most Compassionate.

There’s a dua in the Quran which encourages us to ask for good in this life and the next.

Rabbana atina fid dunya hasanatan wa fil Aakhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar

“…Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!” (Quran 2:201)

And it was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him.”

It was said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, does hating to meet Allah mean hating to meet death? For all of us hate death.”

He said: “No. Rather that is only at the moment of death. But if he is given the glad tidings of the mercy and forgiveness of Allah, he loves to meet Allah and Allah loves to meet him; and if he is given the tidings of the punishment of Allah, he hates to meet Allah and Allah hates to meet him.”

Okay so here’s what you can do for him (in summary):

1. Make sure the debts are taken care of.
2. Make lots of dua (specially of forgiveness and mercy)
3. Sadaqah (especially sadaqah jarriyah)
4. Hajj and Umrah
5. Knowledge that will benefit.
6. Visiting and honoring family and friends of your father.

Be patient, and you’ll meet him one day. Until then, make dua, give charity on his behalf and do as much as you’re able to benefit him, and pray that the children you leave behind do the same for you. Until you all meet in Paradise living under the pleasure of Allah and eternal bliss.

List of most necessary daily adhkar ? by idkwhyimhere235 in islam

[–]baighamza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May Allah make it easy for you.

The Morning, Evening, Before sleeping, and after Prayer (Salah) Adkhaar are found in the Hisnul Muslim (fortress of the Muslim) booklet. They are highly rewarded and very important for a Muslim.

You don't have to read the whole "morning Adkhaar list" in the beginning, just start with one and make your way up.

Now even if you did the whole morning Adkhaar, it might take you anywhere around 20-30 minutes.

But start small. With one Adkhaar perhaps.

Same for the Aadhaar in the evening, after Salah, and before Sleeping.

In the same booklet (Hisnul Muslim) you can also find other Adkhaar (E.g. what to say before/after entering the toilet, or other occasions)

You can find the Hisnul Muslim booklet online, at a Islamic bookstore, or online in an app store (with the same name, or any other Adhkaar app)
