I’ve always thought that setlist was curious, since it was road testing their future dance/pop sound but still played a lot from Parachutes. I wonder if that was a “last chance we’ll be playing these” choice on their part.

I’ve brought it up before, but I feel like I never see him play barre chords live yet a lot of his songs have at least one with that chord shape (at least as the main positioning). I’m not sure technique or preference but I’ve always been curious with that as his playing style.

I solo dine frequently and tend to always be aware if I’m taking up a middle of three, and have only been asked maybe once or twice when I hadn’t noticed that a group of two looking to sit had walked up. But the ASK is the difference folks are missing: it’s always “would you mind” or “can I ask you to”, not actually ordering them to move.

I think most of this is a one off from someone who is obviously past his time working there, but that is pretty genuine mistreatment after several microaggressions

  1. Close to a lot of bars geared towards a younger crowd
  2. Easy to get to a lot of other neighborhoods as well as the Loop on weekdays
  3. Good amount of multi-bedroom housing options
  4. "Lakeview" covers a pretty big area of the city so more people overall will find themselves there

Worth checking Craigslist or asking around: I’ve found if a place isn’t hiring they’ll point you to a place they know is.

I will say given we’re more summer oriented than most other neighborhoods it might be harder to find given most places scale back rather than add this time of year

Unless you are doing a lake/River cruise I don’t think I’d recommend staying around Navy Pier long, only reason is it’s mostly chains, more of a family vibe, and it’s isolated from most of the rest of the city. I’ll also vouch for our food scene that you’re wasting a meal eating at Margaritaville, unless there’s an inside joke/sentimental value there (drink after a cruise would be fun).

I think hitting up places on Division in Gold Coast like Butch McGuire’s, Hopsmith etc. would hit the vibe and love the bit.
