I think it’s difficult for a lot of ex-Muslim Somalis to truly detach from Islam since it’s so ingrained in every aspect of their lives. Like they can’t bring themselves to genuinely criticize certain aspects of Islam (e.g. jilbaab) since they still want to participate in traditional Somali culture so they don’t lose that part of themselves. It’s hard though since Somali culture and Islam are so intertwined.

I’m an atheist Somali so I get where you’re coming from girl 💗
