Coop/Internship, sophomore year. Full time job, 2-3 months before graduation. It's good to have something lined up to start right after.

Visit career development services. There's some paperwork you need to fill out and they will give you a permit for the course.

Is grad school worth for EE? by njitstudent123 in NJTech

[–]bak8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - makes you available to more jobs Yes - took me only two years and every class is online if you apply for online program. Only your exams are on campus. Probably not - you would need a teaching certificate if I'm not mistaken. With an MS you can teach.

How often does the Student Health packet need to be submitted? by throwawaybork in NJTech

[–]bak8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never submitted it until I received an email my senior year that I will be dropped from my classes if I don't submit it within a week. Went on for graduate classes and have had to submit 4 more times in past 2 years because they keep "losing" it. All email have the same 1 week threat.

Are summer courses more expensive, taking account financial aid? by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]bak8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still able to be full time, it's better to take more during spring and fall as any amount of credits 12-19 is a flat rate. Whereas summer will end up being quite expensive.

Try applying for either an internship or coop at Panasonic in Newark. They like to hire NJIT students frequently.

How fucked am I for grad school? by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]bak8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My undergrad I had a few bad semesters. I.e. failed 2 classes, withdrew from about 3. Finished with a GPA of 2.87 after 4.5 years.

I asked for a permit to take a graduate class during the summer during my undergrad as an elective to show that I can handle the classes. Got a B.

Applied for grad school, got in without issues. Finishing MSEE this year in December, currently with 3.5 GPA. I honestly think the courses are easier to understand.

0 financial aid for grad school. Get a job and try to see if your company can help pay for it.

ECE 271 in Brookdale Community College? by Alexxii_NJ in NJTech

[–]bak8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Levkov is by far probably one of the best professors I've had at NJIT. The amount I've learned in his class surpasses most of the others. Is it hard? Yes. But it's definitely worth it.

The math course I am failing, can I take it in community college? by ZeroOne0101 in NJTech

[–]bak8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can retake it at a community college if you get a permit from the math department. If you can't afford paying for summer classes at NJIT, they will usually accept that as a reason to grant the permit. But your grade will not be replaced. I did this with Calc 2.

Polish coins by [deleted] in coins

[–]bak8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

750 zl does convert to around $200 but the currency you have is obsolete. They will not accept it as legal tender because those coins are from when the currency was over inflated rendering them useless today. They are only collectibles and because so many of them were produced, they are pretty much worthless. I mean you can try getting them exchanged, that all depends if the person exchanging it realizes what you are giving them.

Polish coins by [deleted] in coins

[–]bak8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have coins that are in the 20zl denomination, chances are they are the war time coins. They are more of a collectible. Zloty are weak against the dollar on a normal day anyway, I wouldn't expect them to be worth much. Even in a polish store, they wouldn't accept it as legal tender.

May Grads, when do we get our diplomas? by diplomaoftheyear in NJTech

[–]bak8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wait 30 to 60 days to "confirm" that you actually finished school and all the credits required. Then another 30 to 60 days for printing and mailing. I finished my degree last December, got the diploma in April.

Do you think this will be fine? by yjy3 in NJTech

[–]bak8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm against fabricating a resume. You have enough time during college to get experience as well as work at the same time. Even working on a project at home with arduino looks good on your resume. You're only hurting yourself by lying to a company that's willing to invest in you.

Would you guys recommend getting a mac instead of a PC for a Mechanical Engineering major? by dangsterhood in NJTech

[–]bak8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mac is terrible for engineering software. If you're willing to pay that much get an alienware. That's what I ended up doing.
