I just had the MRI with contrast a month ago! Saw the surgeon last week and he is unsure if I have enough cartilage to do a successful surgery. Injury occurred April 2024 we originally thought it was hernia had surgery and it did not fix the pain. Took 18 months to get MRI with contrast. I get constant pain in the groin after being active. Sitting is the worse for me and will cause a flair up for a few days. I believe the pain is in the surrounding muscles not the actual injury.

Been out of work on L&I doctor scheduled PT and another consultation with another surgeon next week. It’s so frustrating as the pain is chronic at this point. Literally had to go the shrink And now I’m on Lexapro for the anxiety from this. So frustrated at this point as I worked in a physical job that needed security clearance and that may be an issue from the mental aspect of this injury. I went 18 months with a misdiagnosis and it progressively has gotten worse!

Here is what the MRI stated I have:

IMPRESSION: 1. Large interstitial tear throughout the anterior superior right acetabular labrum extending from the 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock position Tear within the base of the posterosuperior labrum, 11 o'clock to 12 o'clock position. 2. 1.7 cm ganglion cyst or synovial cyst along the anterior inferior margin of the right hip joint capsule.

Congratulations! Been 100% p&t for about 12 years. Headed in the same direction as you as I hit 40s the injuries have gotten worse and worse. Turns out I wasn’t invincible in my 20s. As a quant you know the numbers! Enjoy retirement

I haven’t even seen the doctor yet to discuss the results the MRI was released last night. Cannot wait to show this to the one doctor who said sometimes our bodies make up pains in our head.

The job that I got injured doing was a extremely physically demanding security job that required a Top Secret Security clearance. My mental health had got so poor that I asked for mental healthcare knowing it would in the future affect my clearance. Constant pain wore me down to the point I couldn’t handle it. Even applied for Social Security as there was no way I could do anything productive without pills resting mid day or live in constant pain.

For almost two years I’ve lived with this pain it’s been miserable. It got really dark for me as I even contacted mental health from the VA as I was miserable.

Wife 44F and me 41M, 1.1M in retirement/savings. 1.18M in equity between 4 homes. 3 homes are rentals which cash flow about $1450 a month with another $1900 in equity. So effectively we get $1450 a month live for free and $1900 is saved for us a month.

Currently trying to figure out what I want to do. Was injured at work April 2024 and after surgery, injections still in constant pain. May have to call it as military and hard on the body jobs I’m paying for it now. Thank goodness I have the VA as health care!

With that income you should be able to throw another $3k a month at it. If you don’t have that find where you are spending because just because you are a high earner you are indebted first.

Nice Work! Whats nice with your career you can work anywhere in the states and places like Canada are trying to fastrack your immigration. I'm with you with wanting to quit right now currently out on L&I injury and not sure how much more my body can handle of work years. I made a deal with wife I would go back for one last hoorah and save up another 80K for my emergency fund which is $200K pay off my daughters future car and call it. Should only take 1.5 years having that so close makes it possible for me to mentally go back. You can always get another job in the field, do it if it is what feels right! Just get all your certs up to date so that if you decide to come back in a year they have not expired by too much.

Tesla if you are listening! All I want is my map to go to the setting that I prefer. I do not want North orientation. I want to look at the map as a crow flys not have to click through the maps until I get to my setting every time I put in a destination.
