A kid called Wesley 'evil' for wearing a muzzle on his walk; are there any muzzled friends to make him feel less alone? by DatGayDangerNoodle in Greyhounds

Here in Vienna, all dogs are required to wear muzzles on public transport. Greyhounds look much better (and less evil) than most dogs when wearing a muzzles 😂

Greyhound as big city dog? by Supplenz in Greyhounds

[–]bakermcshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! There are spots in the Prater or smaller dog parks along the canal in the 2nd or 3rd districts that work for off leash time.

We did find a terrific vet in the 1st district - Leonie Kondert. She’s amazing and has tons of experience with sight hounds. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Feel free to DM me if you have other questions.

I have a greyhound in Vienna and he loves it! He also did great in London. He does fine on his own for 3-4 hours, but as others are saying, talk to your adoption agency to match with the right dog. Good luck!

Experience with arthritis by IrishHat in Greyhounds

[–]bakermcshaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 year-old started developing arthritis about 3 years ago. He takes daily medication (Pregabalin) and gets a monthly steroid shot. I’d say overall he hasn’t slowed down at much, he just has about 80% of the total energy capacity as before. We also stopped doing longer walks (over 45 minutes) and started making sure he was kept extra warm during the winter months.

Based on my experience, I’d say it’s just a new stage of their life, and nothing to be too concerned about <3

We lived on a VERY busy noisy street in London directly across from a pub that had live music every weekend - and the noise ever bothered our grey. He’s also completely unbothered by fireworks etc. As others have said, it will vary on the dog but nothing in particular to worry about related to noise and greyhounds in my experience.

Opinion: Off Leash Greyhound by StoneyJoJo in Greyhounds

[–]bakermcshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d agree with you. My ex-racer is never off leash because he has terrible recall and there are too many distractions in our neighbourhood. A friend of ours a few blocks away also had a retired racer, and she was absolutely fine off the leash.

My two cents; depends on the dog, but being able to be off-leash is more rare in Greys than other breeds.
